A reminder to explore OMSI for just $2 this Sunday, February 1st, and every first Sunday of the month. This is a great winter time activity and frugal too!
Another option to think about for frugal fun is taking advantage of free passes through your local library to many different museums. Portland’s Multnomah County Libraries have passes to check out to visit the Children’s Museum. I just placed my hold on a pass which lets 3 people in for free for 3 days, and with the 313 people in line before me to check it out we will be able to go in May. I’m sure it will still be raining then so it will be handy. Tacoma Public Library also has passes to The Children’s Museum of Tacoma and the Tacoma Art Mueum. I was visiting my sister recently and we checked out passes to get into the Washington State Historical Museum which was having a train exhibit. Couple that with riding the lite-rail downtown and my little man had a fantastic day.
I imagine most major cities have these type of passes available at your local library.
