Walgreens: Huggies Diaper Deal

Did you notice the $5/$25 Walgreens coupon on the front flap of the weekly ad? Here's a scenario for those of you in the market for diapers:
Buy 4 Jumbo Packs of Huggies @ $8.99 each = $35.96
Buy filler item = $1.04+
Use (4) $2/1 coupons (-$8)
Use $1/1 Walgreens store coupon from Children's Activity Book (-$4) -- register will automatically deduct $4
Use $5/$25 Walgreens purchase coupon (-$5)
Pay $20+ after coupons
Submit receipt for $.75/pack Caregivers Marketplace rebate (-$3)
$4.25 each after coupons & rebate
Thanks, Moms By Heart!

My $5/25 coupons says the $25 must be after all manufacturer coupons and store coupons. So, it wouldn't work for me since your total after all coupons is only around $20.

Debbie: The $25 is after coupons but before you redeem the $5/$25 coupon.

I have a question about Walgreens for this sort of deal...as far as I've read, you have to have the same number of coupons as you do items. So, if you have 4 huggies packages, but 6 coupons (including the 5/25 one), what other things do you buy in order to fill up enough items? what have you found to be the cheapest/easiest fillers at your walgreens?

Katie: The rule only applies to manufacturer's coupons. The Children's Activity Book coupon & $5/$25 coupon are Walgreens store coupons.

The issue arises when you are using Register Rewards to pay for the transaction, because RRs are considered manufacturer's coupons to the Walgreens register. You must have as many items in your transaction as manufactuer's coupons. Think of manufacturer's coupons as post-it notes -- each MQ needs to stick to an item. If you are buying 4 packs of diapers, using 4 Huggies MQs and paying with a RR, the RR does not have an item to "stick" to -- you must add a filler item to the transaction for the RR to have something to "stick" to.

In this diaper example, you only need to add a filler item if you are paying with a RR.

Hope this helps!

Katie,
this week there should still be clearanced Halloween items, I bought pencils last week which were $.06 each. Next check out the clearance area, usually an endcap in the back of the store, there are often $.15 -$.25 items. This week the ad has some great fillers. Page 14 has a coupon for 8/$1 Christmas accessories. You don't have to buy 8 to get the ad price. So one would be $.13. If you don't want that then page 3 has Royal Instant pudding on sale at 4/$1. Buy one and it is only $.25 each.

Excuse my confusion ... why do you have a filler item of $1.04+ listed?

Is this Huggies deal good on any size of Huggies? Also, is it good on the other kinds of Huggies such as Little Movers or Pure and Natural? Thanks for the help!

I saw the Caregivers Marketplace form says you have to submit for a minimum of 5 eligible products in order to receive your cash back...? How can we work this deal with 4 pkgs of diapers...any idea? Thank you!!

Ruth: Just hold on to your receipt until you buy another pack. I have an envelope marked "Caregivers Marketplace" in the front of my coupon box that I store the receipts in.

Thank you! Its so nice to have smart people like you make up for my great lack of brain cells! :)

Jeannette: The filler is to get your total after all coupons to $25+, otherwise you can't use the $5/$25 coupon.

Thanks, that is helpful! Walgreens is so complicated, it makes me not want to both with the deals, although I did try today...

Oh another question also, if I pay with RR, it's like paying with a coupon, then, right? So I wouldn't be able to use the 5/25 in ad coupon?
