Angela’s right then you have $5 to spend on something else

Crystal M. says

Actually, I believe it’s 1.74 per pack which has 28 bottles in each. You have to buy 4 packs at 2.99 each . So I believe she just broke it all down a bit further to tell you what you are paying per pack.

Pam says

Yes, but that would be AFTER you paid your initial $11.96/4pks (which equals $2.99/pk). So, if you did this deal 2x’s & rolled your cat in your second tx, it would look like this:

$11.96 (4pks of 28 bottles)

$6.96 (4pks of 28 bottles)

Total: $18.92 for 8pks of 28 bottles = $2.365/pk of 28 bottles**

The more times you roll your cat, the better the per pack price gets…

Roll it twice $11.96 + $6.96 + $6.96 = $25.88 (for 12pks of 28 bottles = $2.16/pk of 28 bottles**)

Roll it three times $11.96 + $6.96 + $6.96 + $6.96 = $32.84 (for 16pks of 28 bottles = $2.05/pk of 28 bottles**)

**plus deposit

I think that is what DavidP was trying to explain. You are paying $2.99/pk for your first 4pks & THEN you’d be paying $1.74/pk for your next 4pks.

Angela says

Deal bloggers always include the last cat in the final calculations. So this deal is calculated like this:

#1 OOP = $11.96

#2 OOP = $6.96

-$5 cat from #2

= $13.92

/8 packages

= $1.74 each

The math looked off to me too. Thanks for working it out for us, David!

DavidP says

I’m afraid the math is wrong on this – catalinas are being double counted.

Assume I buy one set of 28 bottles. I spend $11.96, and get a $5 catalina to spend later, which means I bought 28 bottles for $6.96. So that is $6.96 per 28 bottles.

Assume I roll the coupon and buy another set of 28 bottles. I spend another $6.96, plus the previous $5 catalina. I’ve spent ($11.96 for first 28 bottles + 6.96 for second 28) = $18.92. I have a $5 catalina to spend later, so I’ve bought 56 bottles for $13.92. That is $6.96 per 28 bottles.

Assume I roll the coupon again and buy a third set of 28 bottles. I spend another $6.96, plus the previous $5 catalina from the second set of 28 bottles. I’ve spent ($11.96 for first 28 bottles + $6.96 for second 28 + $6.96 for third 28) = $25.88. I have a $5 catalina to spend later, so I’ve bought 84 bottles for $20.88. That is $6.96 per 28 bottles.

No matter how many times you roll this catalina, you always spend $6.96 per 28 bottles.

Angela says

The Albertsons sale price is $2.99 per 28-bottle package. You buy (4) 28-bottle packages in each transaction.

$6.96 for (28) .5 liter bottles is not a good deal.
