Amazon: Unlimited movie & TV streaming with Amazon Prime {FREE one-month trial}

by Angela Davis on February 22, 2011

I am so excited about this deal! Your Amazon Prime membership now includes unlimited streaming of movies and television shows. Amazon Prime costs $79 per year and will still include the FREE two-day shipping. If you are already using a service to stream movies and TV shows, I think the Amazon Prime deal turns out to be cheaper. We pay $8 a month for Netflix streaming, so I think we will switch to the Amazon option — I have really come accustomed to my free Amazon 2-day shipping and will miss it when my free trial is up. I think I can convince my husband to switch!

Amazon is offering a FREE one month trial of Amazon Prime, which includes the free video streaming so you can try it out before paying the $79 fee. This offer is not available to those of us who have been mooching the benefits of Amazon Prime shipping with our Amazon Mom memberships.

Thanks, Mojo Savings!

My biggest beef with Amazon video is that when we are browsing it isn’t unusual to see pornographic or adult content right alongside of classic films. We can’t browse for a movie as a family due to the graphic nature of the “covers”.

I emailed Amazon’s customer service asking for content controls in “My Account”. I received a prompt reply that my suggestion was appreciated and had been forwarded to the Instant Watch Video Team.

I don’t think I have the equipment for this to stream—-we were thinking of cutting cable and just getting Netflix thru our Wii. Does anyone know if this will work thru my Wii? I checked the comments about it on Amazon, and I saw mostly discontent with the choices (yeah, yeah, I don’t often leave comments when I’m happy with the product either, only when it doesn’t work). But I’m wondering how good a deal this really is, and if its working well for you and your readers.

Found it, yes it does include ROKU :)

Now we’re definitely doing it! We use ROKU too!

Does anyone know if this includes streaming on ROKU?

Ooh, I had heard rumor of this. We’ll probably cancel our netflix if it’s true.

I am curious to try it. I have a free amazon prime membership through amazon mom. And with all the coupons for diapers and such (I just bought Luv’s 204 diapers for $14 after tax!) I keep getting free extensions on my membership.

Just an FYI, a friend of mine who’s husband was a grad student, said that they had a free amazon prime membership with his student status. I haven’t tried it myself, but it might behelpful for some.

The only lost I figure is the new release rental we get with Netflix in addition to the streaming. I would miss that.
