I have been absolutely floored and thrilled with the response you all have given to our efforts to fill 300 care packages for female soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. The stories left in the comments are such a blessing to me. Thank you so much for your efforts!
My family is sending out 10 care packages and honestly, my stockpile just can’t support the amount of items needed, so I’m doing a hybrid donation. I raided my stockpile for dental floss, toothpaste and some snack items. I also hit my local Walmart for candy, games and razors. All of these items can be crammed into one large sized Priority Mail package.
I will get the rest of the items from Vitacost and Amazon and have the packages sent directly to Afghanistan. They pay for the packaging and shipping. Brilliant, eh?
My kids got in on the action yesterday, drawing pictures for the soldiers and breaking up the large bags of individually wrapped candy into 10 small ones. We had a good discussion about what our military is doing in Afghanistan and how we can serve these women with our abundance.
Please check out the post describing how you can participate in this campaign to give back just a little to 300 female soldiers stationed in Afghanistan. It is our goal to get as many packages in the mail by Wednesday, May 30 (the real Memorial Day).
