Here’s a great deal at Target on Spot Shot Carpet Stain remover.

Spot Shot Carpet Stain Remover (14 oz) on sale $3.89

Does this work well at getting smells out of carpet? Say smells from a small child experiencing the stomach flu?

I would try baking soda to deodorize carpeting, Kate. If you have a stain as well, try this strategy:

Blot up as much as you can
Spray the carpet with Spot Shot
Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda

The baking soda will turn yellow as it draws up the stain and the Spot Shot. When it’s dry, vacuum the area to reveal clean, odor-free carpeting! We use this process whenever we adopt a new dog and he or she has an accident during the potty-training stage — which means it’s been repeatedly tested and proven successful!

Hey there. For getting puke smells out you need to go to Whole Foods and buy a spray called “Back Out” It is seriously amazing. It even gets pee smell out too!!!! Like when your kid pees in the bed and it seeps through to the matresss. :)

I would normally think this story/info was weird to share, but since you asked…We have used it on cat vomit and worked well for us.

Personally, I find the smell of this stuff worse than any odor “offender” (too chemical-smelling for me). I really like BioCleen’s Bac-Out, as well. Cuts right through things like dog urine and vomit. I’m sure it would work on kids’ versions, too.

pet smart sells nature’s miracle, which is amazing at getting out stains, even old stains out of carpets, plus it uses enzymes to get rid of urine and other body excreted smells (so the pet does not try there again). Everyone I talk to claims it is the best stuff. It works on human urine, vomit etc. I have had great luck with it
