For instance, right now you could go to Walmart and use the $1/1 IP or the $1/1 from the Healthy Clippings booklet for Muir Glen Organic Diced Tomatoes and only pay $0.38. You could also use the $0.75/1 from the 10/26 insert and pay $0.63. Then you could pick up some Goody Ouchless hairbands using the $2/1 IP and pay $0.12 a pack, making these some great stocking stuffers. Before you leave there you could grab some Ronzini pasta and use the $1/1 coupon from the 10/5 insert making these only $0.50 a box. If you have multiple coupons then you could end up leaving Walmart with a couple bags full of great products worth $29.40 but which only cost you $10.15.
Yes, but only if you are still within your food budget. Otherwise you will need to take that money out of some other category and let’s be honest, will you really remember/force yourself to subtract that from that other category or will it end up being one of those, “oh, I’m sure it will work out.” kind of deals.
2) Pull Out Cash for Envelopes or for Scrip – Set a day where you know you are near the bank and pull out all your cash for all your envelopes once a week or however often you want to shop. At the very minimum use cash for gas, food and personal money. ( I just bought a $10 gift card for Fred Meyer through Scrip as I am going there to buy butter. Same cost for me, but I just donated $$ to DCS, my Alma mater.)
5) Look for Coupon Matchups – Here’s a little trick to know if there is a coupon for an item; go to hotcouponworld.com and type in the item’s name and it will bring up all the coupons that are out there for this product
7) Use Your Extra to Buy Only Loss Leaders at Other Stores – Now, with your leftover cash from your food budget, you can go get the loss leaders at the other stores. This is the tough one, I am still trying to get this one down. I don’t usually have much left after getting the necessities as my food budget is really small, but when I do a good job of menu planning and have some meatless meals then I can squeeze a few extra dollars from the budget to stock up with. I know it is really hard to pass up good deals, believe me, I know, but once again, your financial peace is more important than getting all the best deals. Especially if those deals are for non-necessities such as the ones I listed above. If it is going to put you over budget, pass it up!
Deep Breath….and now…..
