I didn’t see the odwalla coupn in the oregonian, also the dial coupon is not for one item. You must buy the handsoap and 3 bars of soap. Making that not that great of a deal

The wording on that cpn was very ambiguous, so I just left it unclipped and ignored it.

At fred meyers today I bought the Skintimate Shave Gel on sale $1.99
    Use $1/1 in-store manufacturer’s coupon
$.99 after coupon then used the coupon from I think 3 Sunday’s ago newspaper of a $.55 coupon making my purchase only $.45 for shave gel….smoking deal. Those are normally $3 dollars each!

Normally FM won’t let you use one of those in-store man cpns along with one of your own from the newspaper. I’ve tried it without success just to test the system.

If you carry a couple of P & G coupons with you and show them what per purchase is. They clearly state “1 coupon per purchase and no more than 4 like coupons in 1 transaction” Although some of these store clerks and managers are pretty uninformed, its sad that the couponers have to educate them, and when we educate, they don’t believe because so many people take advantage, it makes them skeptical

Rose, that’s a good idea about carrying a P&G coupon with you as an example. Last month I won a copy of “The Idiot’s Guide to Couponing” from another coupon site and I was thinking of carrying that with me, too. Although there wasn’t a whole lot of new information in it for me (I’ve been doing this coupon thing for quite a while), it does give definitions of coupon jargon such as “per perchase,” as well as acceptable coupon-stacking scenarios, etc. I might just highlight a few key items to have ready. If anyone is looking for a good beginner book on couponing, however, I would highly recommend it.

Lindsay, that happened to met oo at Target last week. That has never happened to me there before but it took me almost an hour to check out! and I had a 10 month old who was hungry and exhausted. She made me put in all my coupons in “sections” (food, healthcare, cleaning) and then put my items in groups. And then she went through every coupon and took a red pen and checked off the exp date, product and the fine print. Good God I was about to walk out after the 3rd coupon but I had spent over an hour getting all my stuff. Some of these stores are making me want to give up on coupons. Its like I am being punished.

Argh! I just had my own runaround with Target last night. The cashier, the customer-service person and the manager all interpreted “one per purchase” to mean one per transaction. (I had two identical items and two coupons, and they wanted me to come back the following day to buy the second item/use the second coupon.) Even though the manager finally relented, I could tell that he thought I was talking out of my hat about what “per purchase” really means. I finally called the district office and had to read to them (from the Internet) what “per purchase” actually means. They were under the same impression as the others. Really?!! REALLY?!! I understand that stores are trying to prevent coupon abuse, but so many of them don’t seem to even understand coupon basics. I’m constantly having to explain things to THEIR employees. What a pain!

I totally agree with your interpretation of one per purchase. I sailed that ship many years ago with a cashier, but not since. All it means is you can use one cpn per item and buy as many as you please, subject to any advertised limits or any limits printed on the cpn, such as “Maximum 4 like cpns per customer”. But also see what I posted today re Target’s policy re one offer per guest.

I’m kind of on the fence about that one (Target’s “one per guest” wording). On the one hand, it’s Target’s own coupon, so I guess they can make their own rules about it. The Target site allows for two prints, however, so by enforcing the “one per guest” rule, they are making the customer come into the store twice (on two separate days) to use them. While you’re no doubt right about Target wanting to get our butts into the store as often as they can, it seems rather petty on their part to insist that people return a different day to use the very coupons that they have allowed them to print in the first place. While it’s not such a big deal to me, since I don’t shop at Target a lot, plus I have one that I pass by on my daily route, for some people, having to go to Target TWICE (especially with rising gas prices) to buy that second item with that second coupon makes the second coupon basically useless.

I went to Beaverton (Hillsdale Hwy) store this morning with 3 items. The cashier eyeballed all of my cpns (I had 4 total) and verbally questioned whether the Up and Up eyecare pkg was a trial size. I told her it was from the regular display and she relented and scanned it. I would not DARE try to use more than one Target cpn in the same trip, whether it’s in one transaction or two. I had two of each for 4 different products (one was out of stock today), so I MAY go back another day to make the 2nd trip. The Target web cpns clearly read “One offer per guest.” So what is the point of trying to use two at a time, be it in one transaction or in two back-to-back transactions? I’ve said it before–these stores practically give these items away in order to get our butts into the store and (hopefully) buy other things–NOT to let us get multiple items for free or a few cents. If we all play by their rules, MAYBE they won’t be so anal all the time.

Howard, I’m sorry that Target cashier was a pain. You may want to fill out a survey on their website and voice your complaint. Believe it or not, those in charge at Target take those surveys very seriously. Just an FYI, Target’s coupon stance (at the moment) is that you can use 4 “like” coupons in any transaction. Whether they will let you do multiple transactions in the same trip is pretty much cashier discretion (if its super busy they may not let you). If a cashier gives you a hard time about using more than one coupon, you may want to mention that. I’ve also found that politely educating cashiers (in a friendly way) is the best way to help them understand….those not in the “coupon world” don’t really know how it all works. Wishing you better luck on your next trip to Target!

The reason Target went through your coupons is that they have been having a lot of coupon fraud recently. I work there and they’ve asked all of us to check and double check coupons (dates, quantities, etc.). Its sad that those who do illegal things with coupons make it more difficult for those of us who use them legitimately.

Orbit gum is B2G1 free. Use the ad coupon and get it for 59 each package. Regular shelf price is $1.19 – so you actually B1G2 free in the end.

I had a HUGE problem this morning w the snapware coupon at the Fred Meyers on Division. They did not want to accept it because the product I was buying was $1.99 and the coupon was for $2 off. They ended up price adjusting it but only after they called a manager at their house to make sure it was OK to do. oye.

Yes, I had the same issue with a couple of cashiers at FM in Beaverton and Hillsboro. I ended up just asking them to take it out.

Is an “in store manufacturer’s coupon” different from a store coupon?

Technically, yes, and most stores will not double them–it usually says that on the cpn or on the Safeway Doubler or Albertsons TTV. Safeway will accept another store’s in-ad mfr cpn IF it is for a specific product and not a general cpn like “$4 off $10 of meat.”

Tried the link for Dreyer’s ice cream–could not find it. Saw only a 50-ct Breyer’s cpn. RA also has the Dreyer’s two for $5 after UP (must buy 2 to get that deal).
