How does a hard-core couponer save money on items that usually don’t have coupons? Stockpile the loss-leaders! Tillamook Butter is dirt cheap this week at Fred Meyer — $1.50. This price only comes once or twice a year, usually at Thanksgiving and one other time. I don’t anticipate the price hitting this low again until November, so I purchased a six-month supply, keeping 8 in the fridge (August expiration date) and putting 14 in the freezer.
This transaction cost me around $40. At regular WinCo price, the butter alone would have been about $60. And I don’t have to make a special trip to the store. Stockpiling saves me money & time!
