This worked yesterday at the Monroe Fred Meyer. On sale for $.88 with a $1.00 coupon and the cashier entered in the entire $1. Going to try it again but I have a feeling getting the overage may depend on the checker.

Thanks for the update.

From the FM site:
If the coupon amount exceeds the final cost of an item (whether it’s the current price of the item or after discounts or other coupons are applied), the coupon amount may be adjusted to match that cost.

Howard,
I plan to take my FM add to walmart to get some overage!!! They can price match!! FM does not give overage! Sad!!

Thanks, great idea. A new WM opened near me 2 months ago, and I still haven’t gone there once. Do they price match at the register, or at customer service?
Lissa says
I did this at walmart the other day to get the overage. They price match at the register, just let them know before they ring it up 🙂

Thanks, L and L. I finally visited the new WM in Tigard today. What a huge place! And it’s smaller than the one in Sherwood that opened the same day, I hear. The cashier was a little shaky with the cpns, but she got all 3 to work (despite the printed limit of 2), so I paid only $3.14 for 10 cans of Fancy Feast and 3 Suaves. Also talked to a very knowledgeable customer service rep at Tigard FM, and she confirmed the policy of no overage and no price mods on cpns that exceed the item value. Her rationale was that the mfr won’t reimburse them for the cpn if it’s modified (I’m skeptical). My cat thanks you too.

They are always making up rules on the fly.

This did not work for me today. The items were on sale for $.88. With visions of overage dancing through my head, I was brought back to reality by a cash register beep with the message that the cpn exceeds the price of the item. I asked the cashier to price modify the cpn, and she refused. No sale.
