Summer vacation is right around the corner and it’s a great time to start planning different activities for your kids. Here’s a list of various summer reading programs around the Portland Metro area:
Read any eight children’s books and track them in the Passport to Summer Reading. Kids choose a free book from B&N once they complete their passport. Also includes downloadable activities.
Read any ten books, fill out the Double-Dog Dare form and choose a free book.
Read 15 minutes a day and earn a $3 Half-Priced Books Shopping Card. (Thanks, Thrifty & Thriving!)
Tons of reading activities and incentives for reading throughout the year.
Typically this is the most lucrative reading program in the Portland Metro area. From what I remember, kids get big prizes from local businesses when they hit three reading milestones.
Beaverton City Library “Make a Splash, Read!” Summer Reading 2010 (perhaps all Washington County Libraries?)
Read or have someone read to your child for at least 15 hours over the summer.
Be sure to check your neighborhood’s library for their program!
