Fred Meyer Science Days: FREE admission to OMSI 8/12-8/15 + membership deal

by Angela Davis on August 5, 2010

Enjoy FREE admission to OMSI August 12-15, courtesy of Fred Meyer. In addition to the free admission, OMSI will have extended hours during this week — 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

They will also be offering a 40% discount on all OMSI memberships. I’ve been dragging my feet renewing our membership. Luckily for me, procrastination has paid off this time!

  • OMSI for 2 membership: $35 (regularly $75)
  • Family or Grandparent Membership: $50 (regularly $75)
  • Family or Grandparent PLUS Membership: $75 (regularly $115)
  • Friend Membership: $100 (regularly $140)

Get the specifics of each membership level here. In addition to free admission to OMSI for one year, you will also enjoy FREE admission to over 250 science museums worldwide, including the Pacific Science Center and the Museum of Flight (both in Seattle) and several museums throughout Oregon.

Enter the promotional code FMFREE10 at checkout during your online purchase (I just checked — the code is not working right now).

Thanks, Valerie & Teresa on Facebook!

The information you are providing for the discount is incorrect. You should really check your sources before you posting erroneously.

Code didn’t work and thanks to Amber I almost bought a membership from your site. But I was worried about being asked to show ID to OMSI for proof of residence (it says you must live 90miles away) Then went back OMSI site. Now code works. Thanks everyone! This is our first membership to OMSI and we haven’t even been there yet. Hope our sons would like it!

I just bought my pass today. My friend told me that the $40 discount went through the end of this week. This was such a deal because I was going to buy one any way!

Thanks Amber, saved me tons of money. I just got a pass for omsi and the childrens museum, awesome deal for $40!

We have previously purchased a CREHST Museum Pass (Richland, WA) for our family and used it at both OMSI and Pacific Science Center in Seattle along with the childrens museum in Portland. This cost $40 for one year! The info is found online at their website, http://www.crehst.org/membership.htm. This may be cheaper than the Fred Meyer discount.

i was just there wednesday and was thinking of using our day admission towards a yearly membership… it took $42 off a family pass and we would have to pay the rest up to $90… 2 adults and 4 kids… I am curious if i can still apply our admission to the pass with a discount?

Does anyone know if the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville has a reciprocating membership with OMSI? They are listed on the list, but in fine print it says that reciprocating museums must be outside a 90 mile radius from where the Museum you bought your pass through. They have the option to acknowledge the reciprocating membership, but it is at their discretion….

Best to just contact them directly. We have a science center within the 90 mile radius of our membership location, so I thought they would not allow free admission. Fortunately, I called and checked. They honored our membership!

I called Evergreen Aviation Museum and they said that they only honor the OMSI membership on the last Sunday of each month.

My family has a membership with Evergreen Aviation museum in McMinnville, which is part of the same reciprocal list. We recently visited thePacific Science Center in Seattle and the Telus Science Museum in Vancouver for FREE! The museum in Vancouver was VERY cool. We also visited the one in Ft. Lauderdale two years ago on the same program.

Woohoo – just got mine. And we are headed for Seattle so will be putting the free passes to Pacific Science Center and Museum of Flight to good use. Super deal :)

I want to get a membership and use it at Seattle science center since they are apart of the same organization. Does anyone know if that won’t work?

There is a list of reciprocal science centers on their website. I have used my OMSI membership at two different places in California and both worked perfectly.

I’ve also used mine at the Pacific Science Center (actually my membership is from a Eugene science organization—part of the ASTC Passport Program) and I had no trouble getting free admission!

Also, do you get a temp. membership card online when you buy? We are going to Seattle on the 14th, and would love to use the free membership at their science center too.

Does OMSI require you to show id with your membership card like the zoo does? Or do they not check to make sure the two adults entering are the two on the membership card? **Hope that makes sense :) **

The code probably won’t work until the days – 8/12-15. We needed to renew – so this is great – thanks so much for posting it!

Reply

Alisa August 5, 2010 at 2:42 pm

do you have to do anything for the free admission or just show up on those days?

Reply

Angela August 5, 2010 at 3:14 pm

I think just show up!
