Is there anything more frugal than growing one’s own fruits and vegetables? It is at the top at the very least. This is my second year to plant my very own garden and I am hoping I figured out enough from last year so this years’ crop is much more plentiful.
My husband came home for the weekend (he’s working out of state for a while) and rototilled the garden for me. I was so thankful to not have to tackle that on my own! Then I had fun going to Bi-Mart and Tony’s Garden to buy seeds and starts.
With the right amount of water and sun and a bit of luck this is what my garden should be yeilding for us:
cucumbers, zuchini, cherry tomatoes, roma tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, spinach, sugar snap peas, green beans& sugar pumpkins.
I also bought cilantro and I already have parsley growing. I am trying to increase my herb garden little by little, it’s a slow process.
In the fruit department I was given a bunch of strawberry plants by two different people and raspberry plants by a different neighbor. I love sharing resources, it’s even more frugal and makes everyone feel good.
