Facebook Kate hinted about it a couple of weeks ago on Facebook and now the time as arrived — the big chicken giveaway!
Zaycon Foods, a Spokane Valley-based company that brings fresh meats and other products direct to consumers at wholesale prices, is giving away a 40 pound box of fresh (never been frozen), boneless, skinless chicken breasts to three Frugal Living NW readers.
JC Conrad, the owner of Zaycon Foods, literally drove a box of chicken out to me from Spokane to try for myself. Facebook Kate went to work and created a freezer cooking plan and two days later, we started cooking. I sincerely apologize for the lack of pictures. Just imagine seven kids, including two babies, and one tired photographer. Not a good combo for photo success. Next time we will plan for the fellas to be around to help out.
If you want some fantastic pics of the chicken, check out Crystal’s great giveaway post at Frugal Chic Living (and you can enter there too!). Crystal is definitely not a slacker-blogger.
We were very impressed with the quality of the meat — not too much fat to trim and the meat was super fresh. 40 pounds of chicken breast yielded 19 medium sized dinners and about two gallon sized bags full of chopped meat for future meals.
While the giveaway is really cool (who doesn’t want free chicken?), what I’m really excited about is that Zaycon Foods is delivering chicken breasts to Oregon, Washington and Idaho at the end of October and the beginning of November. The best part? They are selling this chicken at
This chicken contains no added hormones, additives or artifical ingredients and is fresh (never been frozen). To keep prices low, they sell the chicken in 40 pound boxes, which contains four bags each filled with 10 lbs of chicken.
