The best part about living in Eugene – the great running trails and Duck Football!!

julie March 29, 2011 at 5:59 pm

best part about eugene … the ducks!

renee March 29, 2011 at 5:36 pm

What do I love most about Eugene? Two words — Saturday Market!

Cara March 29, 2011 at 4:20 pm

Native Oregonian…so automatically biased!
Traffic jams…ha!
You can live in the country but be in town in 20!

Cara March 29, 2011 at 4:17 pm

Checking my schedule, but hope to do a late sign-up and attend Saturday’s class!

Leah March 29, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I am really loving the new Matthew Knight Arena…it has created new opportunities for entertainment in Eugene. I’m a huge basketball fan and the $2 tickets for the lady ducks have been great.

Kelly March 29, 2011 at 2:58 pm

Centrally located to get to everywhere in a short time, Portland, coast, mountains,
Ashland/Grant Pass/Medford area. Pretty good for shopping (or close to Portland),
wonderful restaurants. Diverse!
Thanks for coming down!

Megan Skaggs March 29, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I live between Corvallis and Monroe and but visit Eugene a couple of times a month to do some coupon shopping!

sarah March 29, 2011 at 2:16 pm

Honestly, cause it is close enough to my parents in Portland to make a day trip of it… but far enough to not have to do it too often!

But I hate the area for the same reasons!

Dan March 29, 2011 at 1:50 pm

The Ducks, all the way!! Quack!!

Kelly Johnson March 29, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I love living in Eugene! I am from the Midwest and the best part about Eugene is the low-humidty in the summer.

Nanell March 29, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I love the Eugene/Springfield area becasue I am so close to everything. The people here absolutely rock. And in the summer SKinner Butte park is so awesome for the kids and its right next to the river.

Karen March 29, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I love Eugene. I’ve lived other places and have always come back. I love that it’s close to the coast and mountains. I love that it doesn’t snow IN Eugene much, but you can easily get to it. I love that there are so many activities for families.

Carri March 29, 2011 at 1:37 pm

Eugene is a hugely diverse place. Great food, great shopping, great outdoor activities. Oh, and a terrific and fun farmer’s market!

Christy March 29, 2011 at 1:03 pm

I love how “into itself” Eugene is. Most of the residents seem proud of their town and put effort and money into it. The great parks, the support for places like the Hult center, etc. are the fruit of this. Also I love how great almost all the stores here are about couponers. They seem a lot more relaxed than the Portland stores. Hopefully as we get more couponers in this town it will still stay that way!

Josh March 29, 2011 at 12:48 pm

The best thing about Eugene are the Ducks! Love it here

Kimmy March 29, 2011 at 12:37 pm

I can’t think of just one thing I love about Eugene. This is honestly one of my favorite places in the world (and I have been to 22 countries). Some of the things that top my list are our running community, the U of O, the farmers market, the emphasis on local and sustainable, how friendly people are… I could go on and on all day.

jennifer March 28, 2011 at 6:49 pm

Eugene is great because there are such a wide variety of people, restaurants, and events…

Shannon March 28, 2011 at 5:03 pm

I second what everyone else has mentioned, but another thing to love about Eugene are the newspapers the Register-Guard and Eugene Weekly–bot excellent papers in their own right.

Larissa Mayfield March 26, 2011 at 12:53 pm

I love the farmers market in Eugene. It always has such a wonderful variety of stuff.

Tara March 26, 2011 at 7:30 am

I love living in Eugene because I <3 my DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was born and raised in Eugene and now I get the privilege of raising my kids here! I am sooo thankful :)

Laura March 26, 2011 at 12:30 am

This is a family town! So many places and activities are family friendly. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall open the Eugene Weekly and plan your next family outing. We love the bike paths, parks, farmers markets, ect.
We homeschool/unschool our three kids and this is a great community to do it in.

Angela March 25, 2011 at 10:39 pm

Eugene is great because it is family friendly. There are endless free activities and places to go. It’s also the perfect location since we are a short drive away from “big city” shopping & dining, the coast, the mountains, lakes, and so much more!

Tina March 25, 2011 at 8:12 pm

I love the small town feel of living in a neighborhood (North Eugene) – I can’t run to the grocery store without seeing someone I know, yet the city offers lots of bigger city amenites as well. Also, we are so close to the mountains, the ocean…the beauty of Oregon!

Gail March 25, 2011 at 4:56 pm

Can I leave a comment and enter for my U of O bound son? I’d love to send him off to college with a Groupon for donuts or a dinner out! We’re in love with all of the variety Eugene has to offer!

Tiffany Kerns March 25, 2011 at 4:32 pm

The best part of living in Eugene is the great size, big enough to have a great park system, college town so we get fun sporting opportunities and great bike paths for running and biking but not too big to deal with lots of traffic and extremely high housing costs. I love this area!

kari moreno March 25, 2011 at 3:19 pm

I actually live in Grants Pass about 2 hours south of Eugene but love to head up there at least once a month to shop and eat out. I am trying to convince my hubby to relocate up there so we can be closer to all the fun things we like to do. Hopefully if I win I have yet another excuse to get up there to visit. Thanks for all your posts. This site is great!

Erin March 25, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I love living in Eugene because it’s so eco-friendly and green here, and it’s just the right size, not too large, and not too small of a city.

Shelby March 25, 2011 at 2:09 pm

The best part of living in the Eugene area is being able to route for our local colleges athletics…home to the University of Oregon Ducks! Lane Community College Titans!

Bobbie P. March 25, 2011 at 2:06 pm

The best part about Eugene is our Ducks! We are also a short drive to the ocean, mountains, and the “big” cities.

sarah March 25, 2011 at 1:54 pm

Eugene is beautiful and I love living here!!!

Kristin March 25, 2011 at 1:37 pm

We recently moved a few minutes out of Eugene, and I have missed living there so much. We still visit often, but it’s not the same. I love the Farmer’s Market where I buy fresh raspberries to eat while I peruse the rest of the market for things like tie-dyed toilet paper.

Vincent Villegas March 25, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Our Family loves Eugene for being the city that does not feel like a city it feels like a community.

Theresa Hilkey March 25, 2011 at 12:43 pm

The best part about living in Springfield is our family is here and I love how close we are to natures beauty from the ocean, mountains, waterfalls…you name it!

Amanda March 25, 2011 at 12:18 pm

The best part about living in Eugene is being able to tell my friend’s some of the wackiest stories they’ve ever heard. We are the city where weird is the “norm” and shenanigans run-a-plenty. And, why not? Some of the greats made their roots in Eugene; Ken Kesey and Steve Prefontaine, to name a few. Not exactly known for being “normal.” I love living in a place where I can begin my wacky stories with, “Only in Eugene,…)

Lauren March 25, 2011 at 11:48 am

The best part of being in Eugene is the natural diversity in and around the area.

Robbin Poetzl March 25, 2011 at 11:47 am

I live in Cottage Grove, and love living the small-town life, but with the convenience of a “big” city nearby. Eugene has everything we need; the only thing that could make it better would be an Ikea.

Claire March 25, 2011 at 11:33 am

I love to visit my friends in Eugene because of all the amenities and neat restaurants that Albany isn’t large enough for. Some of the best places are Sam Bonds bingo night and “Sweet life.” I’m down there enough to use one of the certificates :)

Jannine March 25, 2011 at 11:31 am

Our family loves all the bike paths and parks.

Stephanie March 25, 2011 at 11:23 am

We love Eugene for the beautiful scenery. Plus our family lives here. And we love our Ducks!!!

Kristy March 25, 2011 at 11:11 am

My favorite part of living in Eugene is how pretty and green it is, and how easy it is to be outside with my family.

Sarah W March 25, 2011 at 10:46 am

Is Corvallis too far to enter? I visit Eugene a minimum of once a month :)

Just in case I’m eligible, I love visiting Eugene mostly for the variety of restaurants. I don’t know if there is anything I can think of that I can’t find there. Great shopping. I have been to Matthew Knight Arena twice now and just LOVE it! The Ducks are a lot of fun! There is a wide variety of people and things to do, which keeps things interesting.

connie March 25, 2011 at 10:35 am

I love Eugene because of all the great activities available for kids!

Kristen Smith March 25, 2011 at 10:31 am

I live in Roseburg, which is actually 60 miles south of Eugene. But, since Roseurg is such a small town, we head to Eugene at least once per month. We love Eugene because it has all the stores we don’t! We make a day of going to Old Navy, Trader Joes, Kohls, etc…, and we always eat lunch at Cafe Yumm!

jenifer March 25, 2011 at 10:27 am

I love living in Eugene because we are close to the mountains, beach, and just about everything…we see all four seasons and we are in Duck country! =)

Rachel March 25, 2011 at 10:14 am

Best thing about Eugene? It’s so hard to choose one! I love the Saturday Market, and all the cute downtown Eugene shops, all the interesting local restaurants, and how friendly everyone seems to be. It’s the small-town feel with big city amenities, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else!

Arena Thompson March 25, 2011 at 10:09 am

I’m in CB but we got to Eugene at least once a month, does that count for the giveaway? Pretty Please? lol. I love Eugene because it’s civilization and has all the shopping that we love, like actual malls, Costco, Target, etc.

Jan Larsen March 25, 2011 at 9:45 am

Eugene is a great place to live. Centrally located so that you can get away and in no time be in central Oregon, or the coast, or the City of Portland. We live on the outskirts of Eugene with a country type setting by the lake. It takes less then 20 minutes and we can be in down town Eugene. Lots of sport events at U of O and really close to Oregon State University. Great walking and hiking paths.

Jennifer Willis March 25, 2011 at 9:36 am

I love Eugene – it’s the perfect quirky place for me. :) We love being able to support local businesses and the local economy. I love the surrounding areas as well, all the little towns and their charm, are so close, just a short drive from in the “city” – I love the nature and the fact that I can go hiking right in the middle of town! Sweet Life Patisserie is one of the other best things about Eugene! :) And Dizzy Deans donuts are my favorite donuts in town!!! :) There’s so many things I love about Eugene, I can’t even narrow it down to a couple!

Laura T March 25, 2011 at 9:36 am

I LOVE how easy is it to navigate Eugene without a car. Bike paths everywhere, and gorgeous scenery!

Sarah March 25, 2011 at 9:03 am

The best part of living in Eugene is that it is small enough to get everywhere you need to go quickly and there’s very little traffic, yet it’s big enough to have all the restaurants & shopping outlets a girl could ever need! Except a CVS. I keep hearing great things about CVS. And there’s no In N Out. Or Container Store. Or Ikea. Hhmmmmm…. ;-)

Kristin March 25, 2011 at 8:29 am

Love livin here. Prefect blend of city life and nature.

Alyssa Ayoma March 25, 2011 at 7:59 am

There is no major rush hour traffic :)

David A. March 25, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Except after a Ducks game…

Meagan March 25, 2011 at 7:59 am

Eugene rocks because the people who live here rock!!! We’ve only lived here a couple of years but love it because everyone is so friendly and nice.

Melissa March 25, 2011 at 6:46 am

Eugene is awesome. Great people, great food, and fabulous outdoors! The rivers are great and your close enough to make day trips to The Coast, Bend, and Portland!

Heather March 25, 2011 at 12:21 am

Eugene is beautiful! I like visiting other places, but there really is nowhere like Eugene.

Shannon March 25, 2011 at 12:21 am

Hmm… I can’t decide between the McKenzie River and the awesome weirdness of the Saturday Market. Its all good! I love Eugene.

tabetha proctor March 25, 2011 at 12:11 am

The best part of living in springfield is still having the small town feeling but with the flexabilty of all of the amazing activities of both city and country. We’ve got it all!

Rexan Brooks March 25, 2011 at 12:01 am

the best part of living in Eugene/Springfield is living an hour away from about everywhere.. the city, the mountian, the coast.
