Review: The Couponizer

by Angela on November 2, 2009

I’ve been wanting to try out The Couponizer forever and am thrilled to do a review of this coupon organizing system.

The Couponizer® is an organizing and shopping system for coupons and other discounts. It contains six pieces:

  • The Couponizer® – 8″ x 5¼” booklet with 18 grocery coupon pockets, 4 Non-grocery coupon pockets, 3 gift card/shopper loyalty sleeves, shopping pockets
  • Shopping List – 20 page tear off list pad with cardboard backing
  • CoupStacker – Pre-sorting mat color coded to match the system pockets
  • CoupTracker – 15 page spiral bound list pad with cardboard backing
  • Scissors – blunt tip
  • Carrying Bag – clear vinyl zippered bag

What I love about this system of coupon organization:

the carrying bag
— keeps all the “stuff” together and fits nicely into a larger purse or you can just carry alone.

the pre-sorting mat – enables you to quickly sort your coupons according to the envelope slots in the Couponizer book. Folds down compactly to fit inside the carrying bag.

the organizing categories — this is the perfect system for middle-of-the-road couponers. Most of you need more slots than a dollar store accordian file and not as many as Rebecca & me (we’re pretty hard core).

our coupon box

And let’s be honest, some of you are not interested in toting a large plastic box into the store. The Couponizer is a great solution.

the number of additional storage & organization options — I like keeping my loyalty and gift cards with my coupons. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone shopping only to discover that a gift card is in a different location! There are also slots to keep your receipts, shopping list, rebate information, restaurant coupons, etc. that often get overlooked in other organizational systems. You really don’t need additional envelopes or containers.

What I would change:

  • the scissors — I find longer blade scissors to cut coupons most efficiently (Ikea, baby!). But your kids will enjoy them!

The Couponizer is ideal for those of you who clip selected coupons or 1-2 inserts every week. Much more than that and the system will be too stuffed to be useful. This is also perfect for those of you just starting out and need ideas how to start managing your new hobby or are outgrowing a smaller system!

Great review! I'm currently using a plastic accordian style holder and I have way too many coupons for it! This looks wonderful.

I have been trying to get serious with "couponing". I am such an organized person that I can't stand the mess of it all. This system looks like it would make me feel not so "chaotic" while I save money : )

yes, I would like to have a more advance coupon organizer.I have bought several differnet kinds of organizers, and I have either lost them, throwen them out, because they didn't have enough room in them.or they didn't have a space for the new products,as well as the old one's.I would really be excited to try your new system out.And i've even tried the envelopes, out and the shoebox, and the coupons, ended up on the floor of the grocery store,It would be great to have something that works for a change.I hope I hear froom you,It would be greatley appreciated, especially being on a fixed income.cvthumper@yahoo.com

I am just starting out couponing and like being organized and could REALLY use something like that. My wife and I saved $8.00 bucks on groceries the other day with coupons…we are beginners, just imagine if we were organized. Thanks for the great website, as we are new to Washington State also.

Amy…
Sometimes simplicity is the best way to go. It can be difficult to find something that fills everyones needs, but this is a great beginning for any newcomer or someone that does moderate couponing.
