Our reader, Jan, just emailed a great way to turn $2.53 into $10 at Macy’s this weekend:
Macy’s is having a sale this weekend: Buy any denim item in the store, Get a $10 coupon good on any $10 or more purchase in the store. This offer cannot be combined with any other savings pass, coupon or discount. Here’s how to work the deal:
Go to the children’s department. They have denim shorts on clearance for $2.98. Use your Macy’s card or the 15% off WOW pass in this week’s ad and pay only $2.53 for the item and get a $10 coupon. I bought four pairs of clearance shorts and got four $10 coupons.
I used one $10 coupon to get four baby’s clearance items for $1.92 after coupon. Total for the shorts and four baby items was $4.45. That’s only $0.89 per item!
Most of the children’s clearance items are summer clothing, but there are some onsies and nice tops. There is also a rack of 75% off clearance baby clothes that ring up $4.78 each and there are complete outfits on that rack. So you could get two of the $2.98 items and one of the 75% off outfits for a total of $0.74 after the $10 coupon. Counting the shorts, that’s only $0.82 per item.
The $10 coupon is good on any item, doesn’t have to be denim or children’s, but only one $10 coupon can be spent at a time. You have to buy your denim item and collect the coupon by September 5, but after you get the coupon, you have until September 11 to spend it.
