One thing I detest is book clutter. I have kept a couple of books from our days in grad school, a few Bible reference books and a handful of other parenting, Christian and kids books. Other than that, I have donated the rest to our church’s library or the Goodwill. I know I could sell them at a used book store, a garage sale or ebay and make some money (which I’d love to do!) but I currently don’t have the energy to add one more thing to-do list right now.
I was recently contacted by the president of Cash4Books.net about checking out their book buying service located out of Beaverton, Oregon. This website seems like the answer to my problem — get rid of the clutter and make money with no driving around and very little work.
Here’s how it works:
:: Enter the ISBN number of your books, including recent textbooks, at Cash4Books.net and click “price my books.” I entered the info for my copy of Dave Ramsey’s The Total Money Makeover (which is an absolute must-read).
:: The next screen will tell you if Cash4Books.net is buying that particular book and how much they will pay you for the book. I was offered $2.08 for my Dave Ramsey book, which I think is a decent price for minimal work on my part.
Note that most of the books they purchase have a publication date of 2007 and newer and their needs change, so a book that is rejected today may be accepted in a couple of weeks or months.
3. Print the pre-paid mailing label and mail the books. That’s right, shipping is free!
4. Get paid! After your books are received and inspected, you will get paid by check or PayPal within three business days of your books being processed.
Oh so easy.
What are you waiting for? Gather up your unused books and see if you can make some money decluttering your house!
