Have you all been following the U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials on NBC this week? It’s so exciting to see American athletes competing for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.
My family watched the trials on Wednesday evening after a round of ice cream at TCBY’s Waffle Cone Wednesday (a special night for our kids — ice cream and a late bedtime!). The kids were all practicing their swimming strokes during the races and Matthew, our two-year-old, was yelling “Win, win!” like a wild man. Luckily, we were watching the 100 meter races and not a long-distance one (or, lucky for the neighbors?).
Watching the trials as a family is a great opportunity to build excitement not only for the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but for swimming as a fun personal activity and will help when I drop the “we’re taking swimming lessons” bomb soon.
The trials are running through July 2, 2012 and will continue to be broadcasted every night at 8 pm Pacific on NBC. USA Swimming is throwing a Twitter party on Monday, July 7 at 4:30 pm Pacific — stop by #SwimToday anytime between 4:30 and 5:30 to win prizes, chat swimming and cheer on the Olympic hopefuls!
This post is a part of a campaign sponsored by USA Swimming and The Motherhood to encourage families to get involved in swimming and to support Team USA at the upcoming U.S. Olympic Team Trials and Summer Olympics in London.
