Staples.com: 20 Reams of paper for just $3.05 shipped

by Angela on April 18, 2010

Here’s your chance to score some incredibly cheap paper (for printing coupons, of course!). It requires a few steps, but I think it’s totally worth your time. And there’s a good chance that Staples will pull this deal once they realize that it’s a popular deal, so get on it!

  1. Sign up or log into your account at ShopAtHome (3% cash back) or Ebates (2% cash back). If you’re new to either site, you can get a $5 sign-up bonus. Search “Staples” and click on it.
  2. Once you get to the Staples site, select “Order by Catalog #” at the top of the page.
  3. Input the number 122374-QJ.  This will bring up HammerMill Copy Plus Copy Paper.  The price will be $24.99 for one case.  Add 2 to your cart.
  4. Add 1 dozen pencils for $1.61 to your cart.
  5. Continue to checkout. Select “Add/Edit Coupon” and input 47617.  This will deduct $5 per case = $10. You will also get free shipping (on orders over $50). Pay $41.59.
  6. Submit your receipt to Staples.com for a $32 rebate (pre-paid Visa card).

Here’s how the deal breaks down:

2 cases of paper (20 reams) = $49.98
1 dozen pencils = $1.61
Coupon code (-$10)
ShopAtHome rebate (-$1.54)
ShopAtHome or Ebates first time purchase bonus (-$5)
Staples rebate (-$32)
$3.05 after coupon code, rebates & rebate bonus

If you already have both a ShopAtHome and Ebates account, you will pay around $8 for 20 reams of paper.

Thanks, Penny Pinchin’ Mama!

Seems to have worked fine- the rebate appears as $16.00 but it indicated the system would re-calculate it if ordering multiples. Cool! Thank you!

WOW! What a great offer, I was running low on paper too:) Thanks!!!!!

Interesting…they have made the pencils cost $9,999,999.99. I guess that’s the way they chose to pull the deal?

Guess they changed it back, but what was up with that?!

I just did the deal and it went pretty slick. I do have a question…
I used ebates for the first time but don’t see where it took off $5. Could someone explain it to me (maybe I did something wrong)???

Your ebates bonus will show up in your account in a few days. They pay out every couple of months, so it will be a fun surprise when it shows up!

Thank you Angela! I’m kinda a newbie. :)

They are charging $37.99 for each case of paper now. Guess this deal is over.

I just did the deal and it worked perfectly for me. But of course, I forgot to go through Ebates or ShopAtHome! $1.54, down the drain!

I’m not sure why it’s funky for some of you. The only thing I can imagine is that the site is going wonky because so many people are working this deal. Try again.

Just did the deal and it worked just fine.

I just ordered mine and it was still 24.99 per case. Thanks for the deal. Between the $1 ink refill on Thursday (earth day) at Walgreens and this cheap paper, I’ll be printing coupons like crazy!

Thanks! It worked perfectly :)

I was able to get it to work this time! For some reason the ream price went down. I searched for pencils, and the price wasn’t $9,999,999.99 anymore. Thanks for the deal!

WOW!!!! So excited. I was just thinking I should compare costco vs. Staples ad for the box of paper for $22/cast to see which was a better deal. This is so much better – not sure where I can store 2 boxes of paper but so worth it!!!

Does anyone know how to get the second rebate to work? It only showed the one and when I tried to put in another, it wouldn’t let me. Thanks!

Worked great- and if you want to be sent a check rather than the visa card when you get to the rebate screen that says something like “click to see other options for your rebate, check, gift card…” so I clicked on that and asked for a check instead.

The price is now $37.99

For those who are getting the higher price, I had to enter the item number in the search box to get the lower price. If I entered in the catalog number it came back with the higher price. Go figure!

It worked just fine for me. I did follow Elizabeth’s advice and put the item number in the search box. I also did a search for pencils (because the link led me to a box of pencils that cost $9,999,999), and found a box of pencils for $1.21–even better!
Thanks!

My pencils came up like yours did! Yay! :)

Worked for me. I used my staples rewards # so I will get $3.79 back for each box. Thanks!

My rebate seems to be only totaling $16 did I do something wrong?

hi, i have tried this but it keeps coming up $37.99 a case, any ideas? Also, where do you see the amount of your rebate you are suppose to be able to get?
Thanks anyone for your help:-)

hi, got it to work for the $24.99 a case but by entering the item number in the search box—and got the pencisl for $1.21 too:-) how do you get it to take both rebates, it seems to let you only enter it once for the $16
thanks!!

Worked great for me! Thank you for this deal! Way better deal than Costco! I was a bit nervous since this was my first time using these websites and rebate cards. But it looks like it will work out great! Thank you!!!

Hopefully this works! It appears that when you read the rebate form that you send in, that you have to do one form PER rebate (limit 2), but it doesn’t say anything when you do the online version. Hopefully the online rebate automatically submits your limit of 2 rebates and gives it to you in one shot. *crossing my fingers*

I did it through shop at home but I don’t see anywhere on my new account there that I got anything other than the original $5 sign up bonus. Did I do it right? Help?

It takes a few days sometimes-my Staples purchase isn’t on my acct. yet either:)

This worked for me as much as I can tell. I opted for the rebate check instead of the Visa card. I got them for $24.99/case. When I submitted for the rebate it said it will apply to all items that are available for a rebate, but I can’t tell for sure until they process it and send me the status:)

I just received confirmation of my Easy Rebate, and it looks as if both were honored. It should, anyway, based on the limit of two and this portion of the FAQ:

“I bought 2 (or more) items that fall under the same Easy Rebate® promotion number. After entering the first SKU online, I am not able to submit for the additional SKU(s).

“If you purchased multiples of the same product with a rebate or if you purchased multiple items that fall under the same rebate offer number, you only need to enter the rebate offer number once. The system will use your Easy Rebates® ID number or order number to verify the rebate products you purchased. Then it will update your status to reflect the multiple rebates.”

I got my paper today!! The delivery driver said, “I usually don’t have this many home deliveries, but I have four or five today just on my route. All for two boxes of paper and the small box. Must have been a good deal.”
Uh, yeah.

I got a small box with my pencils and a free “Sharpie” like pen made by Pentel. Looks like it’s made out of recycled materials… awesome! My two huge boxes of paper came today! So excited! And yes… the small print on line said that you would get one rebate per item. No need to do anything else!

Got my paper yesterday by courier- and the pencils came separately today. Looking forward to the rebate check- what a great deal!

Is the rebate only good at Staples, or is the card just like any other debit card ?
