Potential Tacoma News Tribune Deal

This one is interesting. And completely unconfirmed. I just received this email from my mom up in the Tacoma area:

Ok, so I canceled the Tacoma News tribune because they were going to charge me the regular rate – I can get the ones I want at the dollar store; after I talked w/them, they asked if I would want the coupons and sales ads for free, delivered every Sunday at the house…. interesting!  I will let you know what I get – is a way of saving on the subscription.

If you’re in the Tacoma area, it’s certainly worth calling to see if you can score some free coupons. And, just to answer the inevitable question, Dollar Trees in the Puget Sound area often sell the Sunday paper for $1 after Sunday morning. I know of no similar deal in the Portland Metro area. And there is no way to get the Oregonian for less than $2 per paper. I know, totally stinks.

I go to Walmart to get my papers, the TNT is $1 and the free deal she was talking about is not dependable at all. I got offered it before the holidays and have only gotten it once. They people outside my neighborhood get it all the time, so I think its just laziness on the drivers part. The crummy part is that all the neighbors just leave them out until trash day and then eventually pick them up to toss them in the recycling bin…I am tempted to snag one, but my conscience gets the best of me…

This is a fairly new program to the Tacoma News Tribune (I posted about it a few weeks ago)…but basically readers can call and ask for the “Yes Essential Shoppers” magazine subscription and it’s supposed to have the ads & all the coupon inserts that would be in the Sunday paper. It would be delivered by 10am on Sundays. I’ve called several times to the TNT & confirmed it. However, one reader did mention that she receives this & since the holidays have ended, she’s not receiving the full amt of coupon inserts or ads.

Oh, and it’s ONLY for people who are not subscribers to the TNT. My 1 yr subscription is ending in another week, so I’m going to sign up for this & see what it’s like!

You are the second blog I have heard about this on. Definitely worth checking into. I will still get my Dollar Store paper since it’s on my way home from church.

Hey there, ironically enough I also called the TNT YESTERDAY because my $26 for 26 weeks deal was expiring (much better than having to drive to the dollar tree each week, saves me gas money) and they were going to charge me the regular price. I told them I wanted to cancel because I only bought the paper for the coupons and they offered to give me another 26 weeks at $26. I would suggest calling and telling them you’d like to try the paper for $26 for 26 weeks 🙂 You might be pleasantly surprised. Although FREE is better for the coupons, if you also enjoy reading the paper, you might find this worthwhile.

Yeah I just found the dollar store newspaper deal! Usually the TNT has better coupons and more inserts then the Seattle paper anyway – usually I buy both because sometimes one has something the other doesnt.

Salem’s Dollar Tree sells the Sunday Oregonian for $1. At least the one on South Commercial.

Walmart also sell the TNT for $1 on Sundays. The free coupon thing is nice but they don’t always deliver it and it does not have all the ads or coupon circulars. Last week mine only had Target and Redplum.

The actual Dollar Stores also sell the Tacoma News Tribune for $1.
