I ventured in to Rite Aid with my three boys and was pleasantly surprised with these new wheelie cart things my boys could push around in the store to keep them entertained while I checked out the men’s razor aisle. After looking through Melody’s awesome Rite Aid match-ups, that was the one thing that stood out that we were in desperate need of (as in I almost had to go and pay full price somewhere for my husband’s 5-blade razors!)
Before stepping in to a Rite Aid store, it is important to be prepared (both for your sake and the sake of the shoppers standing in line behind you). I checked the Rite Aid match-ups for this week and decided on the Gillette Deal – spend $30, get back $10 +UP Reward.
I then gathered all my coupons that match with the items in the ad.
Once I got to Rite Aid, I checked the items on the shelf with the appropriate tags that would trigger the $10 +UP Reward . . . . . and there were no tags on the shelf. After talking to a very lovely cashier who was not sure how to help, I found the manager on duty and kindly asked for help on which items qualified. (At this point, my children have abandoned their cool wheelie carts for some die cast cars.)
With his help, I was able to find a razor and matching cartridge refill, plus a razor for me. I reached the Gold Level last year, so I have to factor in the 20% discount. I knew my total had to be $30 or more after my discount, but then I could use my coupons to lower my out of pocket expense.
Here is my transaction:
Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor $8.79 ($10.99 shelf price)
Gillette Fusion ProGlide Cartridge Refill $15.03($18.79 shelf price)
Gillette Venus Embrace Razor $9.99 ($12.49 shelf price)
Total Before Coupons: $33.81
Used $10/2 coupon from 1/27 P&G insert
Used $2/1 coupon from 1/27 P&G insert
Paid $21.81, Received $10 +UP Reward
Before starting my transaction, I did ask the cashier to change my +UP Rewards so they print out on the receipt versus being loaded to my card. I prefer to have them in hand in order to give them to the cashier after my coupons (which is completely legit) rather than having them come off my card before my coupons. You can easily change your +UP Reward options in the store. My +UP Reward printed immediately on to my receipt once my transaction was complete.
We only had one trip to the bathroom, only knocked over a few items of soap on the bottom shelves with the awesome new wheelie carts, and managed to race cars down the aisle without taking out any ankles. All in all, a successful trip!
Rite Aid Gift Card Balance: $78.19
+UP Rewards for next week: $10
*This transaction did cost me almost a quarter of my budget, but I also received a high +UP Reward. In the future, I should not need to spend as much out of pocket as I roll my +UP Rewards each week. I also kept with my goal of only purchasing items my family will truly use.
