Helping you live well on a budget in the Pacific Northwest.
Welcome to Frugal Living NW!
I'm Angela Davis, a PNW native, mom of lots of kids, and I love saving money. I'm here to help you live well on a budget by making every penny count. You'll find deals at your local stores, ways to save online, recipes, and frugal living tips and inspiration.
This was a great week to show how you can roll the register rewards thereby spending very little out of pocket. If I had gone earlier in the week I would have done so much better, but I didn’t make it back again until Saturday night at 8pm. It still ended up being pretty great deals, though, so if you need an example of how to roll RR’s then check this out.
Total OOP: $2.62
Register Rewards recieved: $6
Transaction #1 (Done at a different store) They were out of everything:(
Breath Right Strips $4.99
-$3RR from Colgate toothbrush earlier in week
Received $4RR (Register Reward)
Transaction #2 ( next store)
(2) Glade $4
used (2) Free Glade candles coupons
FREE + received $1RR
Carefree Pantiliners $1.99
Colgate toothbrush $2.99
Counting workbook $.75 (filler)
-$.40 Colgate -$4RR (from trans. #1)
Total OOP: $.33 & received $2RR from Carefree & $3RR from Colgate
Rembrandt toothpaste $5
Chapstick $.30 (filler)
-$5 in RR’s from Trans. #3 Total OOP: $.30 & received $5RR
Now, had the first store had everything I would have spent just pennies for each transaction as I would have done the Colgate toothbrush and the pantiliners first, spending $.30 for a filler and received a $5 RR. With the $5 RR I would have then bought the Rembrandt, spend $.30 and received another $5RR. I could have just kept rolling the $5 RR back and forth between the two transactions until running out of coupons or product or I could have rolled the RR’s into something else that produced an RR.
Still, I can’t complain too much with how it turned out, especially for a Saturday night! Now I have $6 in Register Rewards to work with for this new week of deals.
Hope this helps some of you newbie couponers, and remember, you can always leave a comment if you have a question or email us as well.
