When I heard Walgreens was officially done with their Free After Rebate program and their Easy Saver Catalog I thought the days of getting free stuff were practically over. After a couple weeks of really great Register Reward deals, however, I have decided that I now like the new way much better! I like it better now because, A) I don’t have to wait 10 days for my gift card to reload at the end of each month, B) I can go back multiple times to get the same item whereas we were limited to one rebate before and C) no need to worry about entering the receipts on time.
Here are my two trips I have made so far this week:
Note to all the timid and novice couponers: The manager rang me up for this and upon seeing that I was getting the meter for free she took the $5 Register Reward and set it aside and was not going to give it to me. I smiled, pointed at it and said, “I think I’m supposed to get that, at least, that is what the advertisement says.” She then handed it to me without saying a word.
I bring this up because I’m pretty sure if I had been new at this I would have cowered in fear and thought I had either done something wrong or just not had the guts to ask for it. It doesn’t seem to me that they would be losing any more money by me using the coupon to get it free, after all, they will be reimbursed for the full amount of the coupon. So be bold and speak up, but be nice about it.
Dry Idea Deodarent $5.99
Hersheys Candy Bar $.49 with ad coupon(filler)
– $2/1 IP
– $2 RR last week
Total $2.48 paid with Gift Card
OOP Zero and received a $5 RR

Hershey Candy Bar $.49 with ad coupon, (not shown, I ate it:))
– $1/1 tearpad coupon (there aren’t anymore on the display, I still had one luckily)
– $5 RR from Trans#2
Total $1.47 paid with Gift Card (Last one!)
OOP Zero dollars and received a $4.50 RR and a $2.50 RR
I could have only paid $.47 on my GC, but I was in WA with no access to a computer and didn’t know about the $1 IP.
Dry Idea Deodarent $5.99
Edge Shaving Gel $1.99
Meow Mix soft food $.25 clearance (filler item as I had 2 coupons and an RR)
-$2/1 Dry Idea IP
-$5 RR from Bayer Trans#1
Total $.43 paid with Gift Card
OOP Zero and received a $5 RR and a $1 RR
Colgate Visible White Toothpaste $4.49
Meow Mix soft food $.25 (filler item again)
– $1/1 Colgate IP
-$2.50 RR from Bayer Aspirin
-$1 RR from Edge
Total $.24 paid with gift card
OOP Zero and received a $4.50 RR
I still have $11.90 on my gift card and $14 in Register Rewards. I am sure I could have worked some of these scenarios differently to maximize the RR’s, but I feel like I am doing well with it only being a couple weeks into the new way of Walgreening.
