Oh, Safeway, please work out your eCoupon kinks…
As with any new program, especially an electronic one, there are bound to be glitches. The new eCoupon program at Safeway is certainly no exception. I appreciate all the comments you all are leaving to help figure out why so many Coupon Link eCoupons are not working properly.
If you run into problems, here are some possible reasons why your eCoupon was not deducted:
:: The system just isn’t working properly yet and there’s nothing anyone can do. Just return the item if you don’t want it.
:: These eCoupons are not showing up on the receipt like Cellfire and Shortcut eCoupons. It actually reduces the price of the item. If a box of cereal is $2 and you have a $.50/1 Safeway eCoupon, the receipt will list the price as $1.50, not $2 with a line item underneath it for -$.50.
:: $1/2 Safeway eCoupons don’t seem to be working on BOGO items like I assumed they would. You would have to purchase 4 items, get 2 free and have the $1/2 eCoupon attach to the 2 you are paying for. This is not the case with paper coupons.
A big thanks to Lisa for sharing her insight from her THREE calls to Safeway corporate!
