Safeway has a pretty sweet deal running on first aid tape. It’s not a freebie, but I can’t remember the last time I saw a sale that yielded FREE first aid products (other than Band-Aids) so I think this one is a winner.
First, you need to find the $3/2 Johnson & Johnson First Aid products tearpad coupons. These were right next to the J&J items in my local Safeway. I have also found the $3/2 blinkie coupons at my Fred Meyer, but they cannot be doubled (which isn’t an issue for those of you in Washington and Idaho).
Three types of Johnson & Johnson First Aid tape are on sale $2.79 as a part of the Buy 8, Save $4 promotion: Cloth Tape, Paper Tape and Waterproof Tape (1 inch x 10 ft).
This scenario will work when you purchase any combination of eight participating Buy 8 promotion products, but this scenario is assuming you just want the tape. And I personally don’t think it’s crazy to buy 8 packages of tape — the goal of couponing is to never have to pay full price for products again, so you can scratch first aid tape off your “list” for the next couple years and it only required one transaction.
Buy any 8 Johnson & Johnson First Aid Tapes @ $2.79 each wby 8 = $22.32
Use (4) $3/2 tearpad coupons (-$12)
Use 4 Safeway doubles (-$2)
$8.32 after promo savings, coupons & doubles ($1.04 each) — $10.32 in Washington & Idaho
As you can see from this picture, the Safeway generic equivalent of the Waterproof tape is $4.29.
I imagine the Walmart generic (Equate) is more than $1.04 as well.
You can also take either $3/2 coupon to Walmart to use on the First Aid To Go kits in the travel section ($.97 each) and make $1.06 buying 2, though I think Walmarts everywhere will be wiped clean for the foreseeable future. Please, please, please don’t make a special Walmart trip to get the first aid kits, especially with your kids. I don’t want you to be frustrated.

Remember, Safeway doubles manufacturer’s coupons in Oregon & SW Washington only.
