Happy Valentine’s Day! Our family is looking forward to a day of relaxation — we will watch the NBA All-Star Game and listen to my husband lament the fact that Brandon Roy is not playing and hopefully enjoy a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy’s — pizza and cookie dough for just $9.99. Now that is love.
My husband was telling me how he tried to win us a $100 gift certificate to a fancy restaurant this week on 95.5 The Game. Listeners were supposed to call in what their partner had done for them on a past Valentine’s Day and convince the Wheels at Work guys that the listener deserved the gift certificate to reward their partner. Make sense? My husband wasn’t able to get through, but he knew that his story would have won us the prize.
So this inspired me to throw out our own Valentine’s Day story contest. Leave a comment with a Valentine’s story that you have done or someone has done for you. The very best story will win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card. There may even be more than one winner. Entries will be accepted until 9 pm tonight (Sunday, February 14).
Judges will be my husband and me and whoever else happens to be at our house when the contest closes. Go ahead, try to woo us. But know that romantic only gets you so far in this house. The story my husband wanted to tell on the radio was when I surprised him with two tickets to the very last NBA basketball game Clyde Drexler played in Portland. We would have totally won.
