Black Friday 2011: Fred Meyer Deals (November 25)

by Angela Davis on November 16, 2011

Here are the best deals at Fred Meyer on Black Friday 2011 (November 25). Doors open at 5:00 am.

Here’s my take on Fred Meyer’s Black Friday 2011 deals:

  • The best values are the clothing and apparel deals.
  • The electronic deals are pretty good. I’m disappointed that the quantities are so low on the best priced items. I think we will see prices with 10% of these available online throughout the Christmas season.
  • The toys deals are not worth standing in line for — you can get similar prices on Amazon right now. I am by no means an expert on toy prices, so leave a comment if I’m wrong on a deal and I’ll add it to this list.
  • The tool deals are pretty good. My husband needs to comb through the ad. I’ll update this post with deals worth standing in line for soon.
  • The household deals are okay. Fred Meyer is good about offering great sales with in-store coupons and promotions year-round, so I’m not too excited about any of them. Again, let me know if I’m wrong.

we showed up 10 min before 5 and were able to get one
What bothered me was (at beaverton freddys) some mens pj bottoms I got were marked $10, but were showing up at the register for $13, when I brought it to the cashiers attention he changed the price on one (I was buying)and acted like he was doing me a favor, I voiced again the correct price and he modified it, but after checking the recite he missed a pair, and I saw a dickie jacket marked 60% off was came off 40%, so I had to get it fixed at customer service, so peeps be sure to check your totals

Stores love it when people are desperate enough to camp out for a $50 item.

Sarah November 17, 2011 at 6:51 pm

If I’d like a shot at the blu ray player, about how early should I plan on getting in line?

Lee November 17, 2011 at 9:05 pm

Early. With limited stock per store and at that low of a price, they’ll go fast at 5:00am. If you want a very basic player, this is it.

Iris November 17, 2011 at 9:18 pm

This is just me, but any time that there’s a chance I would only get a deal by camping out overnight, like in this instance where there are only 20, it’s not worth my time any more. But if you want to get there at 1 am, or if you like camping out, go for it. I don’t have specific advice about what time is best to line up at Fred Meyer. My only experiences Black Friday shopping have been Target the last two years–the first time I arrived at about 10 am so I got good deals but none of the really HOT, limited items, and last year I arrived at 6 am, to say I had the experience and the excitement–but the lines were like an hour long to check out.

I was pretty disappointed with Fred Meyer’s black friday ad. I’ll be sticking to Walmart & Target.

Iris November 17, 2011 at 9:21 pm

Target has been pretty good the last two years. I am on a low-shopping kick right now, though, so I will probably skip altogether unless I see something specific that I really want or need advertised. I have Chanukah gifts mostly covered already through all the great Target clearance toys, Amazon Lego deals, and Amazon gift certificates for my older kids.

Sara November 17, 2011 at 9:28 am

Remember you can buy any size of something for the sale price and return it later for the correct size. don’t stand in line for boots just grab the sizes they have left and go back later for the correct size. Just a thought.

Emily November 17, 2011 at 10:17 am

Yes! That’s what I told all my friends that are going with me to Old Navy on black friday. I said “if you want it, grab it! It doesn’t matter the size, just exchange it later!”. Great tip! :)

Bree November 17, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Great idea, guys! I’m going to brave my first Black Friday ever now :)

Iris November 17, 2011 at 9:22 pm

If you’re not agoraphobic (afraid of crowds), it’s a fun experience! I just learned last year that it also is a great way to blow lots of money on impulse purchases. :)

Joni @ Truffle Pops and More November 17, 2011 at 9:07 am

I think I will be getting the pjs. My little guy refuses to sleep with any covers. So, footy pjs all year long!

Tiffany Kerns November 17, 2011 at 8:07 am

you know i used to buy all the kids socks for the year on this day but I have found that I can get the same price year round with a 30% off coupon on a sale at kohls or Penny’s. The crowds do not make it worth it for me at all!

Susan November 17, 2011 at 9:32 am

Same here! I do better (at least 75% off) at Penney’s and Target year round . :)

Amy F November 23, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Last spring I stocked up on what I’m assuming were their black friday sale leftovers…undies and socks for my boys marked down and then another 60 and 70 percent off clearance so that was my best deal…but honestly they have grown so fast I need to buy a few more things now.

Bree November 17, 2011 at 7:36 am

anyone know if the Bear Paws are worth standing in line for? I would like some new boots, but not sure if these are worth the amount of time I would be spending…?

Angela November 17, 2011 at 8:26 am

I’m imagining that you don’t have to get there early for the boots as they aren’t a “limited quantity” item. Getting there around 5:10 will probably work just fine.

Rachel O. November 17, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I know that they sell fake ugg’s at Cotstco, and I think they are not much more than that…I wouldn’t get up at the crack of dawn for that deal, but thats just me.

Leah November 17, 2011 at 2:13 pm

Actually the Bear Paws boots are a much better quality than the Costco boots. I have a pair of both. Also these were on here last year as well and you would be surprised at how many people ran through the doors for them! They were gone in minutes.

Angela November 17, 2011 at 2:51 pm

I saw Bear Paws at Macy’s yesterday on sale
for $54. I got these for my daughter 2 Christmases
ago and they are great. Freddie’s is the best deal.

Bree November 17, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Ok, you guys convinced me…I do need a good pair of boots and the price is nice. Thanks for the responses!

Shira November 19, 2011 at 9:06 pm

Just hit season 5 with my Bear Paws. Got the ones with the more rugged sole and reinforced toe. Still super strong and comfy! Love them.

Amy F November 23, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Big 5 always has some bear paw boots this time of year too-
My sis has been asking for some, so I think that’s what I’ll be getting up early for! Freddy’s has one style in particular that I didn’t see at big 5.

Jenna November 17, 2011 at 7:31 am

Where’s the typo? $199 doesn’t seem that great to me?

Lee November 17, 2011 at 7:45 am

Typo probably already fixed by Angela.

Lee November 17, 2011 at 7:28 am

If the blu-ray player is the LG-BD550 that’s a great price. Don’t be tempted to buy an HDMI cable with the player as retailers markup these cables enormously. Never pay more than $10 for a 3 to 6 foot HDMI cable. Amazon sells a high quality MediaBridge Ultra Series cable for $9.49 for 3 foot and $9.99 for a 6 footer w/Prime.

Lee November 17, 2011 at 7:51 am

The more I look at this, its likely the LG-BD630 based on the Freddy’s original price of $99.99. Still a good price at $49.99 as Amazon’s price is $$84.

Lee November 20, 2011 at 9:21 am

Speaking of blu-ray players….the TOP rated standard (non 3D) player according to Consumer Reports, the Samsung BD-D5700 just dropped to $99 (from $130) on Amazon last night. I suspect Amazon is starting to price match BF deals around the country. The Freddies player deal, the unrated LG BD630, dropped from $84 to $68 last night on Amazon.

Lee November 20, 2011 at 9:25 am

Correction, the LG BD630 is rated third by Consumer Reports.

Angela November 17, 2011 at 8:25 am

Great tip, Lee! Thanks!

Shelli November 16, 2011 at 11:33 pm

Typo on the acer

Angela November 16, 2011 at 11:44 pm

Now that’s worth standing in line for!

Iris November 17, 2011 at 12:16 am

Why? There are only 10 of them.

Robyn November 26, 2011 at 6:09 am

There were 20 when I went yesterday. I showed at 530 am. Walked in and got one. No line. No waiting for check out. It was awesome!
