Use (3) $.55/1 coupon from 9/18 SS insert (let’s hope the Oregonian gets this one)

FREE + $.65 moneymaker when you buy 3

Thanks, Stacy!

My cat didn’t print today. Anyone have the web site/email that you contact when we a catalina doesn’t print?

Tried this at FM 158th at Beaverton, No catalina! Waaaa.

Yay. Did this tonight at freebies in downtown Renton WA. They had lots of whole wheat barilla. Had only 2 q’s but still pleased. Considering I just bought pasta @ Costco, I am set for months. Roommate is gonna score the same deal on payday.

this deal works at Safeway too! it’s even better because you pay nothing out of pocket (with double) and get a $2 cat back!

Tonya September 18, 2011 at 8:51 pm

Say someone doesn’t have q’s, what do hey need to do to roll the Catalina? Just keep buying in 3′s or do they need a filler item?

#1 3 wholewheat pastas
Pay $3, get $2 cat

#2+
3 wholewheat pastas
Pay $1, use $2 cat, get $2 cat

????

No you won’t need a filler item. The filler item is only to absorb coupon overage. For example, you have three coupons for $1.00 off and your total is only $2.00. You would need to have a $1.00 filler to absorb the overage, if your store allows overage.

This is what your transactions will look like:
Trans. #1
Buy 3 Whole Grain Barilla Pastas.
Pay: $3.00

Trans. #2
Buy 3 Whole Grain Barilla Pastas.
Use: $2.00 Catalina
Pay: $1.00

and continue on if you like.
Your final out of pocket cost for all six pastas will be $0.66 each; or think of it like this: buy 3 at $1.00 each, get the next XX amount for $.33 each.

Does that help?

Yes. That’s what I needed to know. Have told my roommate about this so she can stock up because she needs pasta & want to make sure I am giving her the right instructions.

Today I bought 3 whole grain and three regular (because my kids LOVE the tri-color rotini) and got a $2 OYNO catalina and a Buy 1 jar of Barilla Sauce and get 1 Barilla noodle free catalina.

I just returned for Freddy’s frustrated because only one catalina printed. I forgot it had to be the whole grain! I’ll return tomorrow, lets just hope they have some left… The longview daily news didn’t get the coupon, but if I roll the cat and pay $1 for three boxes of pasta $.33 is a great deal in my book.

Make sure you are getting the whole grain. I saw someone today not get the catalina but it was because they purchased regular & whole grain…. or so I deduced. my worked after that transacation with just whole grain.

One more question. Will this work:

First Transaction:
Buy 3
Use (3) $.55/1 coupon from 9/18 SS insert
Pay $1.35, Get $2 Catalina
(as described in the post)

Second Transaction:
Buy 3 plus a $.65 filler item.
Use (3) $.55/1 coupon from 9/18 SS insert
Use $2 Catalina from previous transaction
Free and get another $2 Catalina.

Repeat transaction #2.

Thanks!

That sounds like that would work too! The $.65 would be from the $2 catalina, so sure you could find something that was $.65 to cover that! The reason I didn’t is so I didn’t have to buy as many papers. But that is a very good and viable transaction! Nice!

Only one cat prints when you go to buy them.

Reply

KN September 18, 2011 at 10:02 am

So we’ll need to buy them 3 at a time?
Thanks

New to couponing. I’m interested in the catalina information. I understand what they are
and why they print. What I don’t know is how you know WHEN they will print and at WHAT store? Thanks for all the great info. I’m off to a good start.

Welcome to couponing. It’s awesome. Catalinas were a mystery to me for a while, but this website makes it really easy. Just go to the top of the page and click “stores”, then choose which store you want to shop at and there should be a catalina link to click on. It will then list which catalinas are running at that particular store and when.

Kristina September 17, 2011 at 9:40 pm

I already got my Oregonina and the coupon IS in it!! Perfect timing since I’m down to ONE box of pasta!!!!

Christine September 17, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Will I need to check out in multiples of 3? This could be time consuming for them….

Reply

Maegen September 17, 2011 at 9:36 am

If you can’t find a physical coupon book, they should put in the 1.00 price for you.

I was told this was their policy when there was a deal I wanted to do, but the store didn’t have any books left (that was a couple of years ago, but I’ve done this fairly frequently without trouble).

Jen September 17, 2011 at 8:21 am

Is it just the whole grain pasta or is the regular included in this deal?

Reply

Angela September 16, 2011 at 8:12 pm

If you buy multiples of 3, will multiple cats print?

Reply

Angela September 17, 2011 at 8:20 am

It should, but we can’t know for sure until someone tries it on Sunday.

Reply

Kate September 16, 2011 at 7:55 pm

The extra savings book can be found at Fred Meyer entrances. Also at cash registers they sometimes have stacks.

Reply

Stacy September 16, 2011 at 7:53 pm

The Extra Savings booklet can be found at customer service. But a store coupon isn’t needed for this deal. $1.00 is the sale price for the Barilla pasta as advertised in the Extra Savings bookelet.

Reply

Alison September 16, 2011 at 7:28 pm

How do you get the extra savings book?

Reply

JJ September 16, 2011 at 6:50 pm

Will the Catalina roll?

Reply

Stacy September 17, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Yup – usually grocery store catalinas roll.

Reply

Christine Whitaker September 17, 2011 at 12:58 pm

So would I be able to turn around and use this CAT at Safeway?

Reply

Andy September 17, 2011 at 1:44 pm

No. Rolling simply means being able to use the Cat to purchase the same items and get another of that Cat back.

Reply

Deborah September 17, 2011 at 2:49 pm

My Safeway lets me use the Fred Meyer cat coupons.

Reply

Andy September 17, 2011 at 4:19 pm

As per http://www.safeway.com/ifl/grocery/coupons-policy

Safeway WILL accept Cats for “$X off Y” where Y is a specific product (like the ‘$0.75 off Tetley Tea’ from Fred Meyer that happens to be sitting on my desk right now), but they SHOULD NOT accept $$$ off your next purchase Cats (like the one this offer is producing).

Things like this are always YMMV, but it’s often best not to get people’s hopes up based on one’s experiences.
