I had troubles with two of the scenarios at Rite Aid today. The Visine A that is on the $2 coupon (link provided above), was not on sale but instead was priced $7.49. Also the Werther’s candy deal did not work either as the coupon (link provided above) is for sugar-free only and those candies are not on sale for 2/$3 nor do you get any UP rewards with it. Disappointing trip to Rite Aid today as they were out of the Schick Quattro razors also. I did get mouthwash and cat litter though. :-)

It’s so frustrating when scenarios don’t work like we hope or they are out of the sale items. Both the Visine and Werther’s deals did not list the specific varieties that were on sale in the ad so it’s important to double check once you get to the store. Glad you were able to get a couple of the items on your list!

I am waiting for the Arm and Hammer cat litter to be back on the $5 Friday at Safeway. It is the best litter…but I am out. And if people do NOT want their Arm and Hammer cat litter coupons I would be more than glad to take them off your hands. I get as much as I can afford when they are on sale at Safeway!

addi August 30, 2013 at 9:36 pm

I have cat litter coupons, if you email me your address to bay9898@gmail.com.

Reply

Brenda August 30, 2013 at 10:27 pm

Totally agree about Arm and Hammer! I do wish they made their boxes better, they always leak on me. Nothing like leaving a cat litter trail through the store…well, at least it’s not used!
If the rumors are true, there will be a great sale on it at Rite Aid in a few weeks!

Rachel August 30, 2013 at 12:33 pm

I was wondering if you have to use filler items at Rite-Aid when you are using a manufacturers coupon and a store coupon. I was wanting to do the Tidy Cats litter deal….and I just noticed that the coupon printed from Rite Aid says “manufacturers coupon” on the top. So I am assuming that you wouldn’t be able to use one of the $1 off coupons from the paper along with the coupon from Rite Aid that also says manufacturers coupon….correct? So it would make the litter $4.99- $1 manufacturers coupon = $3.99. Or am I wrong?

Reply

Melody August 30, 2013 at 1:50 pm

Nope, it can be done just as I wrote it above. The store coupon’s barcode starts with RC49, which according to their coupon policy, states that it can be combined with a traditional manufacturer coupon. Kind of confusing, but totally legit.

Did anyone else not get the Almay $5/2 coupon. I don’t seem to have that one. :-(

Reply

Brenda August 27, 2013 at 11:34 pm

The Oregonian did not have the Almay coupon (they never are in it!)
Not sure where you are, but the Columbian (Vancouver, WA) usually gets the Almay coupons.

Reply

Howard August 28, 2013 at 4:30 pm

This explains why Oregonians are much more beautiful than Washingtonians….or is it the other way around? :)

JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) August 27, 2013 at 4:24 pm

Did the Oregonian get the Wet n Wild coupon?

Reply

Brenda August 27, 2013 at 4:46 pm

No, it wasn’t in the Oregonian or Columbian.

Reply

Howard August 27, 2013 at 4:50 pm

No, as I recall we don’t get those. We’re already wet and wild from the rain we get.

Reply

JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) August 27, 2013 at 9:06 pm

Howard, this is why we love you so. Yes, very wet and wild… Thank you for your quick replies Brenda and Howard. Now I won’t have to go more wild looking for it. :-)

Does anyone know if the upcoming weekend/Labor Day is a no coupon Sunday paper?

Reply

Brenda August 27, 2013 at 4:47 pm

Looks like the new P&G will be the only insert for 9/1.

Reply

Howard August 27, 2013 at 4:49 pm

Hi, L, I looked at sundaycouponpreview.com (you can subscribe to that, and they will send you weekly emails with links to the lists) and didn’t see anything for 9-1, although that could change tomorrow. I’d guess that there will be no SS or RP, but I think we’re due for a P&G circular. They often distribute on holiday weekends.

Laura, SW Pdx August 27, 2013 at 4:52 pm

Thank you Howard and Brenda! I think I’ll put a hold on my paper this weekend!

I got a nice surprise when the Command hook rang up at .79 after my discount and the coupon still took off the full .99! Also, played around with the math and my discount on the Gillette Foamy deal. Ended up buying 3 at $6.87, using a $6/3 coupon = .87 and got a $1 UpR.

Reply

charolyn August 25, 2013 at 9:01 pm

Thanks for the insights-I didn’t notice that about the command hook & got that price also:-)
And good idea on the Gillette foamy- I will look more closely at that one also.

Reply

Howard August 25, 2013 at 9:18 pm

My cashier had the hooks behind the register. She took me cpn, handed me a hook (“one per person”) and didn’t even ring it up.

Reply

charolyn August 25, 2013 at 9:44 pm

That is a very clued in store !

Did anyone else have any trouble doing the Axe scenario listed above? I just got back from Rite Aid and apparently the Axe face wash is not included in the BOGO deal or the +Up deal according to my store manager. Once I noticed that I didn’t get the +Up he was nice enough to credit me the BOGO, but said I would have to contact the Wellness+ people to get the $5 Up.

Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem or not? I’m not sure how a face wash is not considered skin care, but I never have any problems getting the +Ups for the CSR for Wellness+.

Reply

charolyn August 25, 2013 at 9:14 pm

I got shaving gels (which apparently counts for a face care item) & body washes & they all counted,
Does seem to me that face wash should count for “face care” that is listed in this deal! Sometimes things are not programmed correctly in their system, so that may be the case also.

Few catalina’s I have seen posted on iheartriteaid (and from comments there):
best one will be for the Visine-buy 1-$1 cat, 2-$2, 3-$3-note that the in ad coupon looks like a manu one, if so can’t be added with the other one. It is rare, but occasionally I have seen the in ad coupons, not be Rite Aid coupons. Still looks great with the Cat!!
Also cottonelle wipes has a $3 cat when you buy 2. But I don’t think portland got that coupon-I just saw one for scott wipes.
Also I bought 2-4pks of Kleenex, several weeks ago & got a $2 cat-I never did see any info online about it, so don’t know if it is still going on.

Reply

Brenda August 24, 2013 at 10:23 pm

I was just coming to post about the Visine In-Ad coupon.
Since the barcode doesn’t start with RC I doubt that it is a store coupon. Good catch about the catalina, makes for a great deal!

Reply

Adriana August 25, 2013 at 9:21 am

I just came from RA and both coupons worked well and I got $1 cat. I bought 2 Cover girl shadows, 1 comand hook and 1 Visine that rang $4.76 with my discount, I used $3 +up, paid $1.67 and received $4 +up rewards and $1 Visine cat.

Reply

Howard August 25, 2013 at 10:10 am

Hey, B, I missed you! I figured you were either romping around Gay Paree on the money you saved by shopping at RA, or visiting every RA up and down the west coast and stocking up on shaving cream.

Brenda August 25, 2013 at 3:18 pm

Nah, just took a week off. Can’t remember the last time I did…which is a sure sign that I needed to!

Reply

charolyn August 24, 2013 at 10:35 pm

Little correction (sorry, couldn’t read my own notes)-Cottonelle wipes cat is $2 when you buy 2 & $3/3.

Reply

charolyn August 25, 2013 at 8:15 pm

Another clarification to the Visine catalina-it is just on the A, AC, and original. Did you get the original Adriana? Glad to see you got the cat.

Reply

Howard August 25, 2013 at 9:27 pm

After all the grief over unsuccessful printing of the Visine cpn, and problem finding the newspaper one, it took 2 cashiers and the mgr several minutes to unravel the hassle at the register when no cat printed (I bought 2). The register didn’t take the $1 cpn (as we expected because I used the $2 ones), but after switching registers, doing returns and rebuys, I paid $4.46 for two (after 20% discount, two $2 cpns and two $1 cpns which mgr OK’d) and got $4 in UPs and $3 in cats. I zoomed out of there happy! Also got $7 in UPs in my US mail after last week’s fiasco with Anacin and another product.

Reply

charolyn August 25, 2013 at 9:43 pm

Which visine did you end up getting ?

Brenda August 25, 2013 at 11:34 pm

I bought the original Visine used both coupons (neither beeped!) and got both the UpR and Catalina. Wished I would have bought 2 after seeing Howard’s great scenario!

Howard August 26, 2013 at 3:18 pm

I bought one AC and one Long-Lasting (which is maybe the same as original?). They must have been OK, because the 2nd register they tried kicked out a $2 cat. I don’t know where the $1 cat came from, but they gave it to me anyway.

Adriana August 26, 2013 at 6:05 pm

nope, I got the AC.

Gonna be tough doing the Cover Girl deal if the cpn comes out 9-1 and the sale ends 8-31, unless you buy the Sunday paper a day early and shop that day.

Hahahahahahaha! Why in the world do they have the 9/1 inserts listed in the database already? Ack. I’ll update, thanks Howard.

Couple of other places to find cover girl coupons:
tampax packages have had them in the past-you may have some in your stash, and check your rite aid catalina coupons.

Great suggestion, Charolyn. I have a bunch of those Cover Girl cpns from Tampax Radiant boxes. A guy can never have too much eye shadow, right? Re Visine: I cannot for the life of me find the $2 cpn in 7-28 SS (or RP) and it’s not in the cpn database. The online one is a SS cpn, which means it will take me about 2 hours to uninstall/reinstall Java and print the cpn. Not worth it.

The Visine coupon is in the SS Healthy Essentials 7-28 insert. I order my inserts online so I’m not sure if the insert was regional or not. Hope that helps Howard!

Thanks, Jacqueline, I just found it after all. It’s one of those dumb Unilever “one coupon per person” coupons that also reads “Limit 4 cpns on the same product per transaction.” I got busted on one of those a few weeks ago when the cashier refused to honor more than one. I also tried printing the online version and got my usual “Java Not Detected” message–after I spent close to 2 hours last weekend reinstalling it.

I also get the Java not installed message-which I do have installed & also tried uninstalling & reinstalling-no success.
But I think I did have luck printing when I was on internet explorer instead of my usual mozilla firefox-you might give that a try. I keep forgetting & pretty much just ignore those coupons.

Right, my desktop computer with Firefox is horribly slow as it is, but it’s 10X slower when I try IE.

I am the same-that is why I don’t typically use it :-) You know it is serious if I generally even pass it up to print coupons !!
