Dear Rite Aid:  Your carts are awfully small.  Either that or my children are getting too big.  I would let them walk, but would probably never see them again.  You’d have to put them to work.

Correct! Remember that the UPs cannot be used until the day after you earn them, and are good only for 14 days. See my posts above re the shave cream deals. If you have the 10% or 20% discount, you will get these for next to nothing or even make a few pennies. Sometimes you’re better off spreading your purchases over a couple or 3 days so you can use the UPs you earned earlier, but of course run the risk of finding things out of stock. RA gives rainchecks on sale items AND will deduct the UP value when you purchase it later.

does anyone know all the items included in the $20 get $3+up noxzema/schick only need 9.48 to get the $3up so might be worth it w/coupons to get something.

Reply

charolyn January 15, 2013 at 2:27 pm

I know it includes some Schick razors in addition to several types of shaving cream. The razors aren’t on sale this week-it is a monthly +up, so I am going to wait & see what happens the next two weeks. Or maybe there is only one week left (runs until the 26th).
Also I believe the disposable razors are the ones that have the movie coupons with them.

Reply

kris January 16, 2013 at 3:24 pm

is the $20get$3 noz/sch a monthly deal? so i can finish it next week?

Reply

charolyn January 16, 2013 at 5:45 pm

yes!

Reply

Howard January 15, 2013 at 6:19 pm

Perhaps if you check the yellow shelf tags under the razors and shave creams, it should specify what items are included and the beginning/ending dates. I spend virtually zero on 4 shave creams this week (after cpns and UPs) and still got credited for $11 toward the $20. I’m also ignoring the $100 promo and still have $45.20 credit toward it. Last time I ignored it I got so close that I spent a few extra bucks on qualifying items and got a $10 or $20 UP.

The Tampax boxes now have even better coupons in them-they say $9 of coupons on front & include $2 & $3 coupons-including another $3 for the Tampax!

Reply

Howard January 14, 2013 at 4:48 pm

Be careful with those; I’ve seen several instances of thieves removing the cpns from those Tampax cartons on the shelf & leaving the boxes obviously opened.

Reply

Brenda January 14, 2013 at 9:03 pm

hmmm…Howard they better start putting tamper warnings on the boxes like they put on OTC medication.

Reply

Howard January 15, 2013 at 6:15 pm

Yes, I agree. Or the legislature can pass an Anti-Tampax Tampering bill.

Reply

Brenda January 15, 2013 at 9:26 pm

Now that’s a Great way to spend our tax dollars!

charolyn January 15, 2013 at 9:29 pm

I got another one today & you can be sure I checked those boxes closely! Some did look suspicious :-)

victoria January 14, 2013 at 9:10 am

Has anyone had trouble finding the GE CFL Light Bulbs coupon. Lots of coupons, but I could not find it. I looked twice thru all of them.

I had decided we didn’t get them & then stumbled across it last night! I think it was the next to last page on top on the left side. This is in the Oregonian.

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 6:25 pm

I had a $2 coupon on Tampax Pearl Tampons from a previous box I bought (and noticed boxes today have a variety of coupons also)= pretty good price for the large boxes.
I was in the two Aloha stores today & both of them had the $1.75 coupons on the Tresemme!
There are also load2card coupons (on the riteaid website) for scrubbing bubbles.

Great deal on selected frames and photo albumns this week-a reader gave a tip on last week:
Some have monthly +ups and they are 50% off this week-so nearly free (forgot to look at frames-some may be free).
I got a really nice albumn-slip in type with area to write by it-
1/2 price = $8.49 with a $8 + UP!

Reply

Brenda January 13, 2013 at 8:47 pm

Yippee Charolyn!
I’m so glad I found this tip before my sister and I headed out for a quick trip. She found a beautiful photo album to give as a wedding gift and was thrilled to pay $8.49 and receive a $8 UpR back. Also, it’s part of the Buy more, Save more promo too!
It’s so helpful when people leave unadvertised deals and extra hints, very appreciated!

I agree :-) I always read the tips before I shop.

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 11:03 pm

Now you gave me another good idea-think I will pick up a few more for wedding presents :-)

Reply

Howard January 15, 2013 at 6:22 pm

One of the young cashiers at King City store is very coupon-savvy, and told me today about the frame deal (which I already knew about thanks to “Hillsboro Sharpie”). Maybe if I get closer to the $100 threshold I might check them out.

Reply

charolyn January 15, 2013 at 9:31 pm

I got another photo albumn today (and will check another store tomorrow)-they are very nice quality. Think wedding presents Howard!
The store today didn’t seem to have frames-so still haven’t checked them out-tomorrow :-)

Reply

kris January 17, 2013 at 2:30 pm

so the frames are getting the +up even at 50% w/out any signage for the +up?? was going to buy one today but was afraid there would be no +up printing because no signs up

Reply

charolyn January 17, 2013 at 2:54 pm

As far as I know-it is ONLY selected ones-hopefully your store has signs up on the ones that qualify-if not-check out the post Melody did on this-she had a few pictures and in the comments a few more are identified. but yes they are definitely printing with the 50% off this week.

yesterday i got $4UPs on purchasing 2 bogos Bic pens(10ct), they were 2.59/0 on both and used (2) $1.00/2 qpns, paid $3.18, I love making $ on deals!

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 5:10 pm

Thanks for the reminder on the bic coupons! I have been watching all the pens/pencils/sharpie deals! Also waiting for some to get in stock:-)

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 5:11 pm

FYI-in the 1/6 SS1 (was 2 SS that week).

Reply

Brenda January 13, 2013 at 6:49 pm

Are you guys referring to the pentel/sharpie UpR monthly deal? Just wondering if it’s the same because I already got 3 and the limit is 4. Are the Bic pens BOGO this week as well?

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 8:10 pm

Think the Bic is with the sharpie deal (would have to double check the tags)-pretty sure not with the pentel. I believe they are two separate deals.

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 8:14 pm

Also Brenda: not BOGO this week-but thanks to you cluing me in last week I did get 4 packs of the different colored pens- not the money makers-but very cheap nonetheless-I was happy. Also one set counted towards the $20/$100 +up!
I am still watching them as with the 20% discount-the chepaer ones are still a good price. And still waiting for Pentel to restock again-maybe they were cleared out with last month’s monthly +ups.

Brenda January 13, 2013 at 8:41 pm

Thanks, Charolyn! I kind of forgot about the Bic coupons as well and am excited to find a deal to use them with!

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 11:02 pm

OK I looked and can’t find the bic coupon-is it in the Oregonian?

Brenda January 13, 2013 at 11:09 pm

No the Oregonian didn’t get the Bic coupon, I got a few from a friend. Sorry!

charolyn January 14, 2013 at 12:23 pm

That’s OK-thanks for letting me know.

Howard January 14, 2013 at 4:46 pm

Charolyn, you and Brenda really “Flick My Bic” with all of your neat deals and comments. I’ve nearly given up on finding those Pentels; have tried several times. Not a big deal, I just like the “hunt”. Guess I have another 12 days to find these puppies.

Reply

Brenda January 14, 2013 at 8:57 pm

Good luck, Howard. I haven’t seen any of the Pentels since the first couple days of the sale!

Reply

Howard January 15, 2013 at 6:12 pm

Yeah, I check for Pentels every time I visit a RA for other purposes. About to give up, although I still have 11 days. Actually, I need more pens/pencils/Sharpies like I need a third leg. Time to start donating some of this stuff.

charolyn January 15, 2013 at 9:34 pm

Me too Howard & Brenda-on all accounts. I did get a double pack of black sharpies today-also on the $100 deal (we will get you there yet Howard!)
-with that discount, my 20%-also good with 10% & the +up =great deal!!

charolyn January 17, 2013 at 9:49 pm

Got some today at the Hillsboro RA in the Esplanade-and they confirmed there is no limit! (Yes I left some for others:-)

sandra January 13, 2013 at 3:41 pm

I got a Buy 2 tostitos chip coupon and get a queso dip free(exp. 01/16/13), if I use this I probably would have to get 2 chip and 2 dips to recieve $4 UP right? Pay $5 after the above?

Reply

charolyn January 15, 2013 at 9:40 pm

Yes your scenario would work & is correct-
could also buy 2 chips-free dip-$2+up =$4 for the 3 items-also good.

Reply

Howard January 13, 2013 at 2:10 pm

Thanks, Melody, for the shave cream matchup. I paid $5.58 for two Edges (after 20% discount) and used $2 cpn and got two $2 UPs: 42-cent moneymaker. Didn’t bring along my 2 Skintimate cpns, so will go back and try to get those too. They won’t be free, but will be a very low price after $.55 cpns and $2 UPs, and the 20% discount.

Reply

charolyn January 13, 2013 at 5:08 pm

Also there is a monthly + up deal-have to spend $20-which is a lot of shaving cream! but it also includes some razors. They aren’t on sale this week-but maybe next week.

Reply

Howard January 15, 2013 at 6:09 pm

Went back today and surprisingly, they had a good supply of Skintimate and Edge. Bought one 10-oz Skintimate for $2.63, another 7-oz for $2.79 (both after 20% discount), used 2 $.55 cpns from Sunday’s paper. Paid $4.32, rec’d $4 in UPs.
Also used raincheck for Calgon from last month (BOGO50%, plus $4 UP WYB two). Bought two 2-pack soaps ($2.99, $1.49), less $4 UP value deducted at register, two $1 cpns. BINGO: $1.52 moneymaker!
Total purchase was $2.80, rec’d $4 in UPs.

I’ve been hearing that rumor for as long as I’ve been coupon shopping at Rite Aid (about 3 years). I’d be shocked if it actually happened, I haven’t seen any evidence that they are tightening up or cutting back, so I assume we’re good for awhile.

Actually reading about them in The New York TImes and it seems their prospects are improving right now. I also notice a lot more traffic in the store during the week when I am couponing. Lots of non-couponers picking up a few necessary items and such.

I would be shocked too with how much their pharmacy gets used. All our prescriptions are filled there. I’m sure that is what keeps them afloat.

Well, I hope they don’t; my son just got a job there in the pharmacy as a cashier and a future pharmacy tech. I’ve heard for the past few years that they are in financial straits, but who knows? They did just end their rebate program.

My receipt from yesterday offered a free Atkins Sample Kit. Go to riteaid.com/atkinskit. I unchecked the box and didn’t even need to give an email address. Looks like some free bars and more stuff; states it’s a $10 value.

I’m really more of an anti-dieter, but I did order this. Thanks.

Don’t forget there is a $2/1 Aleve Coupon in the Flu Coupon Book, if you still have one.

Finally a worthwhile deal on Skintimate shave gel!!! I’ve been on my last can for awhile now, been using it sparingly (it’s winter, I need a nice fur coat. Don’t you judge me). Gotta get stocked up again for when my legs need to get some air. ;)

Lol! I happen to like my ‘fur coat’ in the winter…not sure if hubby likes it, but he’s not the one couponing for the shave gel. ;)

I intended to say…
Cool…good to keep it going!

So true about the carts; one would think they’d use larger ones to encourage you to fill it up. As for kids working at RA, my youngest son just got a job at Cedar Hills/Barnes RA store as a pharmacy cashier.
Hold off on the Cadbury eggs (if you can, HA!) till they’re cheaper before Easter. When my girls were small, I took them shopping every Sat morning and raced them up and down the aisles in a cart. They got free cookies at every store with a bakery.

You must be so proud of your son!! Does he know the store by heart like my son does-from shopping with you? My son said before I started couponing at RA-he wondered what was in the store as we never went there-now he says he knows it by heart-and I have no doubt it is true:-)

My son cried one time when we drove past the store front to go through the drive through. He was so mad that we weren’t going in. At that time he was 2 1/2. I agree, as a parent with a 3yr old, 18 month old and 1 month old, the carts are way too small.. I can’t bring my kids with me much anymore :) And if I do there isn’t room for any items in my cart.

That’s so cute about your son! A future couponer :-)

You’ll only need to buy 363 of the Cadbury eggs to make the $250 and get your $50 ups! ;)

Jen,
I had to laugh at your comment as I just figured out how much 1,792 pkgs. would cost!
Melody,
It would be a good way to use any UpR’s you have to burn, that is if you have $1236 worth…

Melody January 14, 2013 at 8:53 pm

You know me, ultimate Rite Aid shopper. You bet I’ve got $1,236 in +UPs to burn!
