BINGO! Tried Raleigh Hills/SW Portland store this morning. They had 6 H&S citrus/mint men’s shampoos. I got 2 for $2.49 each after cpns. Also found a pretty diverse supply of Stayfree pads. Bought 8 for $20, less 6 $1 cpns (that’s all I had), less four $2 on 2 in-ad cpns. Paid $6, rec’d two $3 cats that expire 8-31 and a $5 UP. Realized when I got home that I didn’t get the $3 UPs for the shampoo. That’s never happened before; I guess I have to call someone somewhere. I know I bought the right ones.

Howard June 6, 2013 at 5:37 pm

I tried 3 stores for the shampoo–none left. I did get a raincheck Tuesday that includes the UP credit of $3, so I might be OK if they ever restock it. Supposedly, the UP was ONLY on the citrus/mint flavor of the H&S 2-in-one deep clean.
According to Charolyn, you can buy 8 Stayfrees and make $5 net. I tried one store today (Barnes and Cedar Hills–gone). Might try another store Fri or Sat, but probably not worth the effort. Once word gets out on these things, they go. Rainchecks are a good idea, though. The $5 UP is monthly till around 7-2, so a raincheck for the $2.50 sale price this week would be a good idea, especially if the store will allow use of multiple in-ad 2 for $5 cpns.

Welcome, Nancy!
As Charolyn mentioned there are how to guides at the top of this post to help you get started and feel free to ask questions. We know how confusing it can be when you’re starting out, but if you stick with it you’ll be a coupon pro in no time!

Howard June 5, 2013 at 2:14 pm

I’m soooooo glad you referred to us as “coupon pros” instead of “degenerate shopping addicts.” (We’ll keep that secret as long as we can…..)

Reply

Brenda June 5, 2013 at 11:37 pm

sshhh…she’s new…wait until we have her hooked before giving the dirty secrets of our cult.

Nancy,
I forgot one little detail that I should have warned you about before…things get a little nutty around here (at least when Howard is around!)

Howard June 6, 2013 at 5:35 pm

KGW-TV posted on FB a request for suggestions for the new Ben & Jerry’s Portland ice cream flavor. I said “Obviously, fruits and nuts, with a healthy portion of flakes.”

WOW! you guys are serious couponers..kuddos to your ladies. I’m 3 months in & just learning about Rite Aid. Gotta look more into this RA video thing, not sure how it works but reading about all you guys have saved, inspires me..good job ladies!!

charolyn June 4, 2013 at 9:19 pm

Yes we are, mostly ladies-but don’t forget Howard too-he is very knowledgeable. We are all nice & happy to help new people, so holler with questions. The great thing about rite aid, is new deals tend to be found also -so keep watch on the comment too.
Did you see under stores across the top-when you scroll down to rite aid-off to the side there is a store guide-which will cover this topic nicely.
Basically on the riteaid website-you set up an account with your store card # & watch videos for the coupons. When you are ready to use them you can print them off.
There is also “load 2 card” coupons also on the website-you put them directly on your card.

charolyn June 4, 2013 at 1:51 pm

I wrote this up for the top drug store deals blog-but want to repeat it again-as it is such a great deal this week:
The SUPER rite aid deal this week are the stayfree pads:
on sale for 2/$5
Best option is to buy 4 at a time-so you get the best catalina
use 4-$1 coupons 5/5 SS Also a printable one
$2/2 in ad coupon (in their insert-many stores will have them behind the counter this week-as they are being used so much -so ask :-)
Also most stores will let you use up to 4 of these per transaction.
$3 catalina when you buy 4
= $1 money maker
AND if you do this twice you will get the $5 monthly +up-when you spend $20.
=$7 money maker :-)
(so still worth it even if you don’t have all the coupons :-)
Also if you can only buy 2, have those coupons= free with the $1 catalina you will get :-)

Howard June 4, 2013 at 4:55 pm

Hey, didn’t someone point out a few days ago that the Stayfree newspaper cpns are limit 1 at a time, or something like that?

Reply

Brenda June 4, 2013 at 7:10 pm

Yeah they are, I did a similar deal as Carolyn’s but used a variety of coupons. There were some .50 IP coupons available awhile ago along with the $1 on their site and on Smartsource (I think) If you get the All You magazine there was one in a recent issue as well along with the 5/5 SS. I was able to put together 4 different coupons to purchase 4 at a time. Got my $5 UpR today, stores around here are running low so I wouldn’t wait too much longer if you want to do the deal.

Reply

charolyn June 4, 2013 at 9:14 pm

Yes it is above & I looked at it more closely & saw this:
it says “one per person”-then in bold lettering ” no more than 4 coupons (of any kind) for the same product in the same transaction”. This is confusing & contradictory to me !! I can tell you I used 4 like ones today in the same transaction- (for 4 items) & they didn’t beep. If the manufacturer really wanted you to only use one -they could fix it so it wouldn’t go through.
Also even if it comes from a different source-it is the same manufacturer, so even more so makes no sense to me.
Let me know what you think.
I did try to print one-but am still having the same issues as last week with Java -which this coupon is also-(tried all the suggestions-I did see it seems to be loaded on my external hard drive-which isn’t even connected & my computer won’t open-so can’t get to it to delete it).

I got the two gillette disposable razors & couldn’t use the $2 coupon with the BOGO. My store said that isn’t allowed & they are a good couponing store. They even said they get scrutinized more, because they have so many couponers-so have to be careful what they do.

Reply

Melody June 3, 2013 at 1:25 pm

That’s strange! I know we’ve been over this again and again, but I still read their policy to say you can use both together. Still a good deal even without the $2 coupon though!

Reply

Howard June 3, 2013 at 2:29 pm

I never ever combined a BOGO cpn with a cents-off cpn until I began reading this blog 17 months ago and received encouragement from various readers and writers and a couponing friend. Now I keep a printed copy of RA’s policy and try to bring it with me if I’m trying such a tactic. To my recollection, they always have to input the cents-off cpn manually because it rarely if ever scans.

Reply

charolyn June 4, 2013 at 1:47 pm

I do need to print out the policy & keep it with me too. Yes they would have to put it in manually, as it did beep. I think they are getting more leery when it beeps now.

Couple other monthly deals that I found.
Ghirardelli Bars have both a weekly and a monthly reward.
weekly= $1 UpR on 2
monthly=$2 UpR on $6
I had a tearpad coupon for them that was Buy 2 Get 1 Free also.
I bought 3 = $6-$2 coupon = $4. Receive $2 UpR and $1 UpR.
Even without the coupon, it makes them $1 each which is a good deal for the bigger bars.
Head n Shoulders 2 in 1 deep clean for men 14.2 oz.
Printing a $3 UpR (monthly deal) limit 3.
These are $4.49 -2 coupon (6/2 P&G) = 2.49. Receive $3 UpR.
I couldn’t find this shampoo at the store I went to tonight, but this deal is being reported as working for other people. I will try another store tomorrow.
Bought 4 Stayfree (overnight thins) and was happy to see it tracking on the bottom of my receipt for the monthly UpR.

Reply

Brenda June 2, 2013 at 9:47 pm

It looks like the Head and Shoulders deal is only for one specific kind.
Head and Shoulders Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner Men 2 in 1 Deep Clean with Citrus and Mint Extracts
UPC 037000830016
This is the only one being reported as printing the $3 UpR, but if anyone has success with any other kind please let us know.

Reply

charolyn June 3, 2013 at 1:06 pm

I looked today also & that was the only type that was marked with the +up at my store (and it was out of course-but I know to watch for it-thanks again).

Thanks, B, I love the thrill of the hunt! Will be passing a few RAs in my travels this week, so I’ll be out there looking. (I think I’m subliminally using my shopping hunts as an excuse to play golf in far-flung places.)

Howard June 4, 2013 at 4:58 pm

Tried 2 stores during my travels today. This flavor was sold out at both. The word has gotten out, I fear. At the 2nd store, I got a raincheck from the mgr, whom I know from another RA he used to manage. Super guy; he’s “head and shoulders” above the rest! He even offered to check with his scanner to see if it’s a discontinued item; it’s not. I believe there’s a limit of 3 on the UP reward. The $3 UP is a monthly; the $4.49 price is good only till Sat 6-8, so raincheck it if you can’t find.

Reply

Brenda June 4, 2013 at 7:16 pm

Flavor?!
Hmmm…not sure about that, Howard.
I like citrus and mint but I think the shampoo soapy taste would cover it up!
Thanks for seeing if it was a discontinued item and the reminder about the sale price, I hadn’t thought of that!

Reply

charolyn June 5, 2013 at 7:37 pm

That is a great idea for the raincheck-I didn’t think of that either. I have a feeling it will be a long wait to find it in the store :-)

Allyssa June 5, 2013 at 11:53 pm

Thank you Brenda for the UPC code! I will check it tomorrow morning. I saw 2 bottles of H&S for Men today but I’m not sure they were that flavor:)

On the stayfree, I am wondering if I am missing something. All of my stayfree coupons say one per person. So at most if I had a 4/7 rp and a 5/5 ss and a printable, I could purchase 3. How does anyone purchase 4?

Reply

Brenda June 2, 2013 at 7:15 pm

I found 2 different printable $1/1 and a .50/1 Stayfree coupon so I just mixed them up with the insert printables.

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 9:14 pm

WARNING-at my store there were large bags of the nonchocolate candy that are the same types as the “peg” bags that get a $1 +up on 2. These are priced 2/$4, but the tag also said they had this same +up on it. It was not that way in the ad-just the price-no +up, so I was doubtful-but wanted some for my son’s bday party, so gave it a try. It did NOT give a +up. I looked again & it said 14 oz bags & these were more like 15-I asked the cashier if there even are this size & he said no-so looks like these tags are an error. Don’t be fooled like me :-)

Thank you Brenda re shampoo! I was able to pick up a bottle today for free thanks to you! My receipt contained at bottom a RC# coupon for $7/1 Prilosec 28-42 count. Pretty sure I can combine that with $1/1 PG q from todays paper. With the $4 UP, that is an incredible price for Prilosec 42 ct. Looking forward to trying the deal tomorrow.

Yes you can combine an RC coupon (store coupon) with a manu. Good find!

14-count RA brand omeprazole (generic Prilosec, and 4 other products) are two for $18, with a $10 UP. But with the 20% wellness discount, they were only $8 each (reg price is $10 each). So, $6 net for 28 pills, a very good price.

Walgreens has an in-ad cpn for store-brand Prilosec (omeprazole) this week. $10 off reg price of $22.99. Today is senior pricing day (over age 55 or AARP member), so I paid $10.39 for 42 count after 20% senior discount and cpn. Otherwise, $12.99 with cpn all week.

Can I combine RAD Catalinas coupon with printable coupon?

Reply

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 4:02 pm

I’m not sure what RAD is-but the stayfree catalina (for ex) that is a money back on your next purchase can be combined. Other catalina’s are manufacture coupons (look on the top) & can’t be combined.

I think she means Rite Aid cats. My local RA just started issuing them.

Both Garnier Rite Aid store coupons are gone.

For the unlucky Oregonians that never get the Garnier Shampoo coupons in their inserts, I found 2 more options for you. There is one available through the Load2Card program ($1/1) and there is a printable one ($1/1) on Redplum’s site.
www . save . com/ coupons/ latest-coupons (remove spaces)
Now everyone can have free shampoo!!
well everyone that was able to print the $2 RA coupons before they ran out.

Thank-you Brenda for the tip-I do have the load 2 coupon-but probably would have forgotten it :-) You are very helpful.

Couple of heads ups:
Ben & Jerry’s ice cream pints go on sale Sunday at Walgreens, BOGO $4.99. My Oregonian B&J cpns were $1/1 and expire 6-16. (I think a $1/2 cpn would work on a BOGO deal too.) Anyway, $3.99 for 2, much lower than RA price.
Oregonian likely won’t get the Garnier cpns Sunday.

At Walgreens I *think* you can use a q on the free item. Would make it an even better deal.

There is a catalina on stayfree (buy 2 get $1 on next purchase, 3-$2 and 4-$3-the 4 will only work if your store allows 2 in ad coupons-which most do). However I have seen some debate if this is the same size that is on sale this week-so time will tell for sure. Also can’t remember if this is also on the carefree & OB.

I have the catalina print-out from a week or so ago and it doesn’t specify size, but the sizes pictured are the larger ones. I’m going to buy them anyway, so I’ll report back!

Sounds like the monthly Stayfree deal might not match up with weekly sale either. Since they are so cheap I figure I’ll buy a few and see it they track on my receipt.

I got no catalina with my 2 large Stayfree pads but they were cheap anyways so no complaints

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 3:56 pm

I got the catalina today-I bought 4 and the monthly signs ARE for this sale-so double SCORE :-) Also I verified both with my most knowledgeable checker (she is also a couponer).
Janene-I would call as you should have gotten it. One more question though & a caution for other shoppers-does your store have a catalina machine? Not all rite aids have them -or so I have heard-all of mine do around Hillsboro.

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 3:58 pm

PS: the monthly +up deal is $5 when you spend $20 & as they are 2/$5 -for a change it matches up exactly even :-)

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 3:58 pm

OK-my brain is slow today-but one more caution-if you are going for the monthly deal-buy in two groups of 4 for best savings-as after 4 you don’t get more on the catalina part.

Brenda June 2, 2013 at 5:04 pm

Yeah Carolyn!
Thank you for testing it out. Now I want more details, what kind did you buy?

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 9:05 pm

I bought 2 -22 count ultra thin regular & 2-14 count overnight with wings.

Brenda June 2, 2013 at 9:42 pm

Thanks Charolyn!

charolyn June 3, 2013 at 1:03 pm

I finished it up today & got my +up-worked great!! I got several other varieties of the stayfree-so think they all work.

calder June 1, 2013 at 5:38 pm

This is incorrect … the Q is only for Comfort 3 Advance which are priced higher.
****Deal Scenario****
(2) Bic Comfort3 (4 pack) $3.99/$1.99
Use (2) $2/1 coupons from 6/2 SS insert
Pay $1.98, Get $2 +UP
FREE after coupons and reward

would Skinny Cow singles count for the nestle candy?

Reply

charolyn June 1, 2013 at 6:05 pm

I saw on an iheartriteaid comment that it would-so check it out for sure -it’s on my list too :-)

Melody June 1, 2013 at 10:21 pm

I missed that one, I’ll add it! There is also a $.50/2 3 Musketeers coupon that I’m adding right now you could use.

Reply

Brenda June 2, 2013 at 12:00 am

Keep an eye out for Snickers Tearpad coupons (.50/2) I found them both a RiteAid and Walgreens in the candy section.

Reply

Howard June 2, 2013 at 9:58 am

This could work out nicely, as I have two Skinny Cow BOGO cpns and one 3 Musk $.50/2 cpn. If this plan works, should cost $.16 for six bars after UPs and cpns.

Reply

Howard June 4, 2013 at 5:01 pm

Got ‘em today at King City/Tigard. Paid $.17 net after UPs and cpns.

Janene June 2, 2013 at 10:36 am

the skinny cow b1g1 worked for the single candies!

Reply

charolyn June 2, 2013 at 3:53 pm

I also had 2 .50/2 M&M coupons that I printed awhile ago -so don’t know if they are still available. They do say available at walmart on them-but they scanned no problem. Last I checked at rite aid, about such coupons-they said they are fine with them as long as they scan.

I got 6 skinny cow singles and used 3 BOGO coupons today. The cashier used reg price $0.99 as a discount for BOGO coupons so the total was $1.03 and got $2.00 +up. $0.97 money maker! I will get Head & Shoulder deal with this $2.00 +UP tomorrow.
P.S. I am so glad to found this site about a month ago. Especially, these comments really help me. Thank you everyone for the information!

Howard June 7, 2013 at 8:06 pm

I had to tell my cashier 3X that the candy BOGO cpns were worth $.67 each, not the $.79 (wellness discount) price the register was showing. He finally listened.
Be careful with the Head & Shoulders. Supposedly the +UP is on only one certain kind (deep clean 2 in 1 with citrus/mint), and I’ve yet to find a store that has it. Good idea to get a raincheck for the $4.49 sale price and the $3 +UP.
