*This is how I believe the scenario should play out.  As long as the body wash is more than the cleanser you buy, the cleanser should automatically trigger at the 50% discount.  Just make sure the cleanser isn’t more than the body wash, or you will only get the 50% price taken off with the coupon.  There are going to be a lot of different products that work with this coupon, so you won’t necessarily have to find 4 of this specific type.  Rite Aid’s coupon policy also clearly states that you can use a “cents off” coupon with a BOGO coupon, print the policy and take it with you if you are unsure.

I had the same issues with the Olay/PG deal. It didn’t track correctly or print my Up. I also had an issue with the coke/planters deal. I purchased 8 different varieties of peanuts @ $2.49 each and used 4 $1.50/2 q’s. I spent $13.92 OOP and should have recieved $5 Up (if they rounded up like before) but it didn’t track any of the purchases or print an Up. The total should have been $1.12 each. I tried to call CS but was on hold for 15+ minutes before being disconnected. Hope to figure it all out tomorrow.

By the time I got to RiteAid this afternoon they were out of the Olay bodywashes so I decided not to do the deal. Boy was I glad, while checking out there was another woman trying to do the Olay deal and having all sorts of problems trying to get it to ring up correctly. I think I’ll just wait for another deal for that rebate!
On a good note, I discovered that they carry the Neosporin Essentials Pack that is a $5 moneymaker after the rebate that’s available.

Went to the the Rite aid located at 222 Telegraph Road, Bellingham WA this morning at around 8:20am. The Lysol Kitchen system that was advertised in the paper was the one that have the free refill but was scanning at $9.99. The cashier asked I guess a so called manager over and she said it’s the wrong one, that it’s the orange color one like the photo on the coupon. One of her staff took the hubby to the shelf and told him which one and he brought back the Lysol hand soap which is not the kitchen version. The so called manager’s reason is that because the product is new that they don’t have it in stock, geeez it’s not like they don’t know it’s gonna be on their ad since it’s printed months ahead.
I know for a fact that’s the Lysol with the free refill is it but if the uninformed woman insist it’s not the right product there’s nothing i can do. I’m gonna save my coupon and use it at other stores that doesn’t give this much trouble. Forget about shopping at Rite Aid from now on, with the ups being loaded onto the card is annoying because you can’t use it right away for something else. Rite Aid will continue to lose all their couponing customers at a very fast rate.

Did I mention that she wrote up a raincheck for only one item saying that because she doesn’t know if it’s gonna be instock so that’s why she can only write one. On their flyer we’re allowed two!

Jes,
I’m a Bellingham shopper too. I love the RiteAid on Sunset. The ladies there are SO helpful with coupons, deals and with inventory. They know me as a coupon lady and give me hints and help me know what’s already sold out, when they’re getting it in, etc. Give them a try! :)

I got some insight into the Olay deal from a cashier today after she observed what has been happening:
some items are not counting towards the $50-even though some are pictured-she has noted these:
Olay regenerist products, Whimsy olay body wash, orange package olay bars and Clairol.

Also it looks like the conair brushes require a certain amount spent before you get the +up-not per item (as has happened with several deals in the past few months-all the info didn’t get into the ad).

I went to riteaid this morning. They only had two olay cleansers, I bought them with 2 olay bodywash. the computer grouped the cleansers together and the bodywash together so I got one cleanser half off and one bodywash half off. They were trying to give me both products that were half off for free in stead of subtracting both bodywash. The manager even came over. Finally I got it through that the coupon states the bodywash was free. I went to another riteaid to get 2 more cleansers and 2 more bodywash and the manager said I had to do it in 2 transactions because the coupon clearly states 1 coupon per purchase. I pointed out the coupon states that but also clearly states 4 coupons per transaction. She also wanted to only subtract the half off item, instead of the 2 bodywashes like the coupon clearly states. Then she refused to let me use the 3.00 off the cleansers coupon. I finally gave up and refused to do the deal
I have already 25.00 towards the 50.00, but I think I want to do a more simple transaction for the other 25.00!!!.

I’m glad someone else was able to get on and let you know the Olay deal (although awesome in theory) didn’t work at the register. The cashier and I tried several different things but it grouped like items together for the BOGO 50% off instead of the lowest priced item. The assistant manager was even amazed that it wasn’t the lowest priced item that went half off! (FYI: I’m located in Yakima, WA)

Because I wanted to make sure I got the best possible scenario, I left everything at the counter and decided not to do it. So it would either work in one transaction how you (Melody) posted it above or it would work in four transactions as Miss Jay posted. Although, with the +UP not printing, that throws a wrench into things! If the $10 +UP doesn’t print it would still be a hot deal because you would get 8 Olay items for just over $3 or $0.38 an item.

So a couple of things:
1. Does a discount come off of these items? If it does, Melody’s scenario is just over $50 without a discount which would bring it under $50 if a discount applies to this scenario.
2. Since it now doesn’t matter if the body wash is more expensive than the facial cleanser, you could in theory get different prices for the items and get lots of different scenarios. I think a trip to the store is the only way to figure out the lowest overall price. I’ll have to go when I have a little more time and work it out.

Thanks for all the time you spend and the headaches you endure to put these match-ups together each week! Normally we hate the system for taking the discount off the lowest priced item but in this case we wanted it to! Shame on you, Rite Aid computers! LOL

On the rebate form it wants you to write down the UPC codes of your purchases. It only gives you 8 spots so where do i put any additional products I purchased? Do I print out another form and write my other purchases on that one then attach it to the first one?

Brenda March 18, 2012 at 2:22 pm

Amanda,
I have always just listed the extras on the back of the form making sure to include everything they ask for.

Lori March 18, 2012 at 9:50 pm

I print out an extra form and put both forms in with my address info only on the first. I e-mailed them and they said you could do it that way. I also wrote continued on page 2 on the first form.

For once having a fussy, crying toddler with me worked to my advantage! I went in to do the Olay deal (or, my own version of it, including some H & S shampoo) and had to leave before I could get it all figured out with as little OOP as possible. Based upon other people’s experiences with it, I’m glad I saved myself the headache! Sometimes, with those big +Up deals, I have found myself spending more OOP and +Ups not printing. Think I will just skip this one, as I don’t really need the products anytime soon. Did find a good deal on a box of Finish dishwashing powder–on clearance for $2.74. Free toothbrushes and pantyliners help, too.

The olay deal kind of fell apart for me in the store today. The computer auto-priced down to 50% the most expensive item (so the 2nd & 4th body wash) So I decided to do 4 transactions (1 body wash & 1 cleanser in each). But then was unable to use the $3/2 cleanser coupons.

Additionally the computer didn’t track all $50, says my total is at $34 so the UP didn’t print. The manager at my store said it’s because you are supposed to ‘spend’ $50 and I didn’t because I used coupons. I think corp will fix that part, but it’s been a pain.

Oh man! I thought I had it all figured out with how their registers work with the BOGO 50% off sale. I’m going to assume others will have the same problem, darn it. I’m wondering if they take the identical items and match them up for the BOGO 50% off?

So it would look like this:
(4) Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash (23.6 oz) $8.99 (2 at $4.49)
(4) Olay Complete Ageless Cleanser (6.5 oz) $7.99 (2 at $3.99)
Use (4) Free Body Wash wyb Facial Cleanser coupon from 3/4 PG insert (- $26.96)
Use (2) $3/2 Olay Facial Cleansers coupon from 2/12 RP insert
Pay $17.96, Get $10 +UP Reward
Submit for $15 mail-in rebate
FREE + $7.04 overage after coupons, reward and rebate

I went to rite aid for the olay deal and the ups didn’t print. Not only that it says I spent $42 on Olay. Which make no sense since by pre-coupon total was $50.92.
I have never called Rite-Aid before? Is it easy?

Reply

charolyn March 18, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Yes it is easy to call rite aid (1-800 riteaid) & they are very responsive. Last month I had a deal like this that should have reached the targeted amount & I didn’t get my +ups-so I called.
Seems like there have been some computer issues recently.

On another deal recently with the BO50% off, I broke up my transactions to be sure the ones I wanted 50% off worked, as I find you never quite know how it will go. But like Miss Jay says above that is a bummer as you can’t use your $3/2 coupon and you really have to match up the cleanser & body wash for that coupon too. I will have to think this one through more before I go & do it.

Thanks for the comments-it really helps to know what to expect (or in this case as it is an odd one-sort of!).

Is the Clean&Clear coupon from 3/18 RP regional? I got the Oregonian in Se Portland and its not in there.
Sad Face.

Regarding a previous tip from a reader:
“Spend $25 on Dial, Renewal, Simple or Eucerin products, Get $10 +UP Reward”
I saw that in my store today also. They had a separate sign for each item, so don’t know that they are mix and match.
There is a sale on dial soap this week to consider & maybe more info will come out about this.

Melody great scenario on the Youth Code Kit-I would have never thought of getting 2 +ups with one item! I looked at the kits on previous sales, saw how expensive they were & thought it would never work into a good scenario!

Looking at the olay it looks like a good deal. I have never done a rebate before and im really unsure how easy it is to get your money back. Do they look to see if the amount that was paid is after coupons or before. what are things i needs to be careful of when submitting for rebates? any info really helps. thanks

Brenda March 17, 2012 at 11:59 pm

Amanda,
I’ve done several P&G rebates with great success. I have always used coupons and used my pre-coupon total when submitting them. However, it’s important to really read the fine print on all rebates. I have noticed lately that many are including new rules. Some clearly state that any coupons used will not count towards the rebate. This P&G rebate does not state that, in fact it says, “rebate can be used in conjunction with other offers.”
It does have an odd detail for Oregon residents (I’m in WA) that your purchases have to be made and submitted within 7 days. This is a new rule that I have never seen before, hopefully they won’t change it for everyone.
Bottom line, make sure to read the fine print and make a copy of your rebate paperwork before you mail it off. I write on the photocopy when I mailed it and how much money I am expecting to receive.
I would encourage you to give it a try, it’s an excellent way to boost your savings and moneymaking deals!

Here is a scenario using fewer coupons:
(4) Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash (23.6 oz) $8.99
(4) Olay Complete Ageless Cleanser (6.5 oz) $3.99 after 50% discount
Use (3) Free Body Wash wyb Facial Cleanser coupon from 3/4 PG insert
Use (1) $3/2 Olay Facial Cleansers coupon from 2/12 RP insert
Pay $21.95, Get $10 +UP Reward
Submit for $15 mail-in rebate
FREE + $3.05 overage after coupons, reward and rebate

If you only have 3 free body wash q’s, you should still be able to use 2 $3/2 for the 4 cleansers and a $2/1 body wash 3/4 PG for the one left over. I could be totally wrong too.

Oh, yippee! I totally forgot about using the $2 coupon for the extra. Thanks, Amanda!

Trying to work out my own deal on the Olay stuff, bcause i only buy 2 papers per week. Anyone try the regenerist creme? Looking for an anti-aging creme to start using on a regular basis.

Reply

Brenda March 17, 2012 at 5:09 pm

I have used the regenerist creme and cleansers and love them. I won’t buy them unless I find a good sale, but they are my favorite! Also, I only buy 2 papers a week as well, it looks like if Melody’s deal works out we’ll still have a moneymaker with just 2 coupons!

Thanks again, Melody! I took one look at the P&G deals and turned the page, I couldn’t face figuring out a good deal. Thankfully I have you to do the hard work!!!

Melody March 17, 2012 at 5:13 pm

Seriously, that promo looked maddening at first. The P&G stuff usually only works out if there is a BOGO coupon. I’m glad you mentioned about only having 2 papers. I only get 2 as well and was going to have to figure out a way to do it for myself, but think I may just do it as I listed with less coupons. Good call!

Usually when I’m done writing the match ups, I would gladly pay for someone to write my personal scenario. :)

Can someone explain a deal that only uses two coupons?

I’m sure I’m just being super slow.

I actually Need body wash, so this would be great!

Beth, I know someone who uses this. I had not seen her for 3 weeks when I did I couldn’t believe the difference, her skin looks youthful and has a nice glow to it. I am also going to work out a deal for it.

I use it and I have tried a # of moisturizers over the years ~ top of the line and drug store. Olay Regenerist is my favorite. I love it! And I get complimented on my skin all the time. Rarely did before I started using it.

The new VV coupon states excludes youth code cleansers, I printed it out.

Melody March 17, 2012 at 4:04 pm

It really does? I printed mine last week for the deal and just checked it, no wording anywhere about the cleansers. They must have changed it this week after the deal last week. Bummer!

I was reading on another blog and they actually changed it today? The person that posted it says hers printed fine and when she printed on her husband computer it has been changed. :(
