This is a GIANT week. Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, share your scenarios for the P&G promotion with us. I’m blogging from a hotel room in the middle of watching my brother play in the state basketball tournament and just can’t look at the computer for One. More. Second.
Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
And you certainly deserve it-you do so much for us.
One idea-2 tide (I got a $2 catalina coupon today-so check too)
1 charmin
=30.87=18.62-coupons & +up, (or less with $2 tide coupons)
not bad as these are the large tide & $3-4 is the best I can
usually do on the small size.
Charolyn,
Do you use Savingstar? If you do, don’t forget they have a Charmin coupon. Buy $20 get $5 back (multiple trips okay!).
Makes your deal even sweeter!
Thanks, I already did that last time it was on sale (at rite aid of course
. but good reminder for other people.
Melody,
You’re a saint for doing this post when you clearly have more exciting things going on!
There was a one page coupon insert from 2/17 (maybe regional?) that has a $1/1 Vidal Sassoon coupon that would match up perfectly with the scenario you already listed which brings down the price to .75 each!
Here’s a similar deal with Pantene, if you have the 2/17 insert I mentioned above.
Buy 6 = $19.50
Use 3 BOGO Pantene coupons (2/17 insert)
Use 1 $1.50/2 coupon (3/2 P&G)
Use 1 .50/1 coupon (3/2 P&G)
Pay = $7.75, receive $5 UpR = .46 each
There’s a $2/2 IP coupon available and/or look through your coupon stash for higher value coupons sent from recent sample offers to make for an even better deal.
Thank you for this! I love Pantene
and so do you know if the full price of all 6 items would be assessed towards the $50 total needed for the MIR?
You will have $19.50 towards the P&G MIR if you do the Pantene deal above. P&G is good at specifically stating their rebate totals are figured before manufacturer coupons!
If you use the 3.00/3 Pantene coupon in the 3/3 P/G instead of the .50/1 or 1.50/2 that would make them .29 each.
Linda,
Duh. Didn’t catch that $3 coupon, thanks!
Ladies, thank you for these great suggestions. For those of us poor souls who get only 2 newspapers, this might work:
Buy 4 Pantenes ($13), use 2 BOGOs from 2-17 plus $3/3, $.50/1 from 3-3 P&G (is that legal? I think it is.); buy 1 Vidal shampoo/conditioner @ $4.99, use $1/1 cpn from that 1-page insert and also the free styler WYB shampoo/cond cpn from 3-3 P&G. Pay $6.99 after all cpns for the 6 items, get the $5 UP on $15 purchase. (If this is not doable, someone please advise.) Plus there might be as much as $17.99 credit toward the $50 milestone for the rebate, right?
Oops, just realized I can’t use the $3/3 Pantene if I’m paying for only 2 of the 4. So the $1.50/2 would be the one to use, and I’d spend $8.49 OOP and get $5 UP, if I figured right.
$8.99 OOP, not $8.49 (including the Vidals).
howard, you can use the $2/2 on coupons.com and make it a little better
Howard,
Your deal looks good to me.
I hate having to spend so much over the dollar requirement to get a deal so this is what I decided to try
(I only have 2 inserts as well)
Buy 5 Pantenes = $16.99
(not sure how the 5th one will ring up, might be .74 cheaper)
Use 2 BOGO coupons (-$6.50) and $3/3 coupon
Pay 7.49, receive $5 UpR = .50 each
Also, if your store has catalina machines look through your coupons I just found a $2.25/2 and $2/1 Pantene ones that will make this deal even better!
That $2/2 coupon wasn’t available when I originally posted, I’ll update. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion, Brenda. As soon as I entered Tigard RA this morning, I ran into the lovely Linda, my longtime “partner” in couponing. She graciously gave me a Pantene BOGO, so I got 6 and used 3 BOGOs and the $3/3. The cashier took off the $3/3, $6.50 for 2 of the BOGOs and only $.25 for the 3rd BOGO. She tried explaining that I’d paid only $.25 for one of the shampoos. I protested mildly and she said she’d subtract another $3 “just for you”. I muttered something about RA’s policy on BOGOs with cents-off but just let it go and left. (I think this had something to do with the April 6, 2012 policy statement allowing combination of BOGO and cents-off: “the value of the cents off cpn cannot exceed the selling price of the item”. I guess she was thinking that once she did the $3/3, the 3rd BOGO was worth only a quarter?) Bottom line, I paid $6.75 and got the $5 UP.
Howard,
Maybe I’m just trying to justify the deal I did, but I really don’t understand why this is any different then any other BOGO deal. You didn’t pay .25 for one. The $3/3 coupon should take $1 off each item making them $2.25 each. I hate having issues at the register, but happy that you got the deal! We had no issues doing the same deal today.
Well Howard & Brenda I am with you-I can’t even imagine where she got the .25 -her brain was in another zone I think.
The only issue could be as Jan said below-if they now consider the BOGO to be on two items (which would be a change). I did it with 4 items-2 BOGO & the 1.50/2 coupon & my cashier didn’t blink an eye-I do think she had to manually put in the 1.50/2.
My Rite Aid won’t let me use a $off coupon with a BOGOF coupon starting this week and the $off coupon wouldn’t scan after she did the BOGOF after I asked her to try. She said that Rite Aid now considers manufacturer BOGOF coupons to be a coupon on two products instead of just the free one like they used to.
Thanks for all the cool comments. Frankly, for years and years I never thought it was kosher to use a cents-off with a BOGO cpn or BOGO promo, till Linda and several of the writers/readers on this site convinced me to try. I suppose the cashier/store could argue what Brenda mentioned: that the $3/3 makes them $2.25 each, so each of the 3 BOGO cpns takes off $2.25 not $3.25. ($9.75 total discount). Which = exactly what my cashier proposed: $3/3, $3.25 X 2, $.25, total discount $9.75. Now I can see her point. I think it’s time for me/us to back off on the double-dipping, even when it makes perfect sense from our frugal point of view–which in this case was to subtract $3.25 X 3 FIRST, then take off $3/3 for the 3 “full price” products.
Since you are on the subject of BOGO coupons, can any of you give me your advice? I am in desperate need of clincal
strength deoderant, and this week it is BOGO 50% off, so could I buy 3, use a B2G1 free coupon along with a $3/2 coupon? This one just has me stumped?
I never thought about it that way, I always gave the cashier the BOGO coupons first and then the cents off.
I’m with you about rethinking this policy. I don’t feel the need to stretch or bend the rules just to save a few bucks and be part of the reason why they continue to crack down on other policies.
I certainly don’t want to be lumped into the category of “if the cashier accepts it then it’s okay to use any coupon you have” type of couponer either.
DeAnn,
You can use 2 coupons on sale that is BOGO 50% off, so you should be fine with the $3/2 coupon. I don’t think I would feel comfortable using the B2G1 coupon with the sale. If you did, my guess would be the cashier would take the cheapest one (the 50% off one as your free one with your coupon.
DeAnn, I don’t think your proposition would work. RA’s store policy is “B1G1 cpns cannot be used in conjunction with a B1G1 (free) or a B1G1 at a % off promotion.” Although your plan is to use a B2G1 cpn (I’m not even mentioning the $3/2 cpn yet), I think you’d have a problem using the B2G1 cpn even by itself. They probably would give you the value of the product that’s 50% off. (A Walgreens mgr recently told me something to that effect.) On the other hand, if you use the $3/2 cpn and are buying 3 items, I think that would work by itself. You’d have to buy more than 3 in order to use both cpns; I won’t even hazard a guess as to how many.
How about a $3/2 and a buy two get one spray for free?
Jen-according to our previous understanding-yes-the spray is free, so there are still 2 products for the coupon off of 2.
Now after reading all of this though-I am starting to wonder too, if you can mix with free coupons.
Thank you all for your good advice. I don’t think i will attempt this.
Raisin bran is about $1 at safeway on the buy 4 get $4 off sale (other items can be used also) & the 2/17 RP coupon $1/2 & a double.
This goes until Tuesday. See the safeway posts for other ideas.
Thanks Melody =)
Anyone here use iheartriteaid to find out what the following weeks deals are? How accurate is it for Portland/the NW? I almost didn’t ask but I see FLNW reference other coupon/frugality sites often so I figure it was safe. Before I found this site it’s all I followed but haven’t been back in over a year bc last I remember, it was hard to make out and wasn’t written nearly as clearly as the match ups on this blog.
I use iheartriteaid. It’s especially useful for things like the Grape-Nuts sale, for which I ordered $1 coupons in advance. (We like Grape-Nuts and they rarely go on sale.)
Any differences from our ad are subtle- the main reason I’ve largely quit shopping at Rite Aid is lack of stock.
Those are actually the ad scans I use for the match ups, so all of our information is the same.
They are usually close to accurate, with a few regional changes. These in-ad coupons are a total crap shoot though.
Thanks, gals [=
Ugh just checked it, yeah it’s pretty much useless as far as match ups go but I like the ad scan. Just would hate to get everything ready and have it not be a local ad =/
I look at it sometimes (when I want to know ahead of time what is happening) & yes the match-ups aren’t nearly as good-but does give you an idea of what is coming. Usually isn’t a local ad-except as Melody noted on this one, when there are lots of in ad coupons.
Also there are lots of people that comment on it-so you can get tips there also.
If you are really eager to know, here in Oregon at least, you could buy the Sunday paper on Saturday to see what is happening.
Regarding the Riteaid ad which starts 3/3/13:
The Naturemade /Aveeno deal-$10.00 UP reward when you buy $30.00 worth of items-
the ad states’limit 2 up rewards valid 3/3/13-3/30/13′
Can I assume then that this exact deal is good for all of March rather than just this week? And will purchases track over the month or does it need to be done all in one transaction.
I seem to remember seeing a Naturemade sale in an upcomming ad via the ad scans on IheartRiteaid, so I’m wondering if that is true which deal would we get?
Monthly deals track throughout the month and don’t have to be purchased all at once. Even the weekly deals that have a $$ purchase minimum can be spread throughout the week, I believe. Your receipt (bottom) often tracks these for you.
Regarding the above posting:
Naturemade is BOGO free on the ad starting 3/10/13-
then the same UP reward deal starting tomorrow is also listed in the ad starting 3/17.
So if we buy Naturemade the week of 3/10 which deal applies?
The +UP Reward promo will run and track all month, over multiple receipts. If you purchase the week of 3/10, the BOGO deal will apply which would definitely be the better deal. The only thing I would check is if it is on the value size or all vitamins and supplements, every once in awhile they throw in that extra wording.
Got the Oregonian today, and we DO have the Rite aid Coupons!!!
Was so excited to see those too!
The $3 Huggies slip-on coupon doesn’t work. i keep posting to FB and getting an error message. Sad.
Thanks for all your hard work with match-ups in the middle of a basketball tournament!
Finally got my planned trip this Sunday at RA :

Pay $8.93 oop & get $10+UP
If you don’t have +UP’s to rollover then total cost is $18.93 and you’ll get $10+UP’s
oh snap! I just realized that for the Loreal Advanced treatment I can’t use my VV coupon with the in store coupon so I’ll use the VV coupon with the $2/1 manufacturer coupon from 2/17 RP so my total cost would actually be
$7.93 oop with the $10+UP’s
J, see Linda’s comment above; there is supposed to be a $3/3 Pantene cpn in Sunday’s P&G which is slightly better than using the $1.50/2 and $.50/1.
thanx Howard….I have 2 more groceries to do this week so I only ended up purchasing
3 Pantene shampoos
3 Pantene conditioners
2 Gillette Custom 3
1 Gillette Sensor 3
Use 3 BOGO Pantene coupon
Use $3/3 Pantene coupon
Use BOGO Gillette coupon
Use (2) $2/1 Gillette coupon
Total=$15.35
Received $10+UP
My oop cost was only $3.35 because I rolled over $12+UP that were expiring. Hubby just left for Navy retreat & during his packing process learned he really needs razors and the ones I got are not bad (IMO) and now I have $19.50 towards the P&G rebate. Thanks for the scenario help everyone and happy hunting at Rite Aid this week!
Did you know about that school for belly dancers–the Navel Academy?
Gossip for all shoppers of Pantene products!!! I have been told that the BOGO coupon is not supposed to be combined with the cents off coupon per wording on the P&G coupon.
I just so happened to be able to use the $3/3 coupon (it beeped but cashier didn’t think it beeped because of that & neither did I).
I read one of my remaining BOGO coupons & don’t see this but I heard it.
ok I understand…..it is not a BOGO coupon it just says you get a free conditioner/styler if you buy a shampoo so we can’t use the cents off coupon on the conditioner.
so I should go pay Rite Aid $3
Janene,
This is a highly debated subject that I honestly try and avoid. Personally, after reading the written RiteAid policy and the Pantene coupon again, I think you are fine. The $3/3 coupon is used on the shampoo that you bought, not the conditioner that you got for free.
I wonder if Fantine (from Les Miserables) used Pantene.
I posted my own similar experience above, before I read these comments. Guess I/we will have to be more careful.
Just a heads up!
If you are planning on doing the Spend $25, Receive a $10 UpR
Schick razor/shaving cream deal it does not start until 3/6!
It’s actually a monthly deal that runs 3/6-4/2.
In the ad it shows the start and end dates of it underneath the picture, but it’s so small I’m sure some people will miss it and try it tomorrow.
Oh geez, I didn’t even notice that! I’ll add a note to the match ups. Thanks Brenda!
Thank you so much for letting us know! I’m really glad I read these comments before I head out to do my shopping
Yes I always do too & really helps to give me the latest info
Thanks everyone.
Thanks Brenda {& allcontributors} !
So I didn’t see before hand that the schick deal starts on the 6th, and I bought 6 shave creams and 1 hydro razor this morning. Total before my coupons but after my gold discount was $26.34. And I DID receive the 10+up. Was this a different deal I got? Possibly a monthly up from February? Hmm.
It is weird, Desi.
I’m not sure what is going on with the monthly deals. When I posted the reminder yesterday I had only seen the ad. However, while shopping today I noticed that the monthly deal signs had the dates of 3/3-3/30, not 3/6-4/2 that the ad shows. Since the signs at the store shows today’s date and you in fact received the UpR, maybe the ad has the wrong dates?
I also did the deal today and got my $10 up
The Mars $1/2 in my paper is limited to the 6-packs:(.
Oh shoot, that wasn’t listed in the database. Thanks!
I got the $1/2 Mars, and it didn’t give any size. I used it today and got 6 snickers eggs for .0 !
My Oregonian cpns specified 6-packs. I guess if I don’t buy and eat these, I will retain my six-pack abs (ha).
I tried to use the $1 of any 2 candy and the cashier wouldn’t let me because it specifies 2oz or larger and the snickers are only 1oz or less. Any suggestions?
The ACT mouth rinse will be cheaper than $1.99 if you have the Wellness discount. I bought mine for $5.99 less 20% discount of $1.20, which made them $1.79 after cpns. (Note that there is a limit of one on the in-ad cpn per customer, but most cashiers will ignore that.) Some of the ACTs are $5.59, or $1.47 after 20% discount and cpns.
When buying the controversial Pantene Sunday, I was told by the clerk hanging the tags that there’s a monthly $20 UP on $30 of Finesse, thru March 30. Could be a good deal, although I don’t think there are any current coupons. (There might be a new P&G circular on Easter, 3-31, but that won’t help here.)
I noticed the signs for Finesse as well, I believe Aqua Net is included in the deal. Also saw signs for a new Nivea Monthly Promo, Buy $20 Receive $10 UpR. Didn’t take the time to see if all Nivea products are included or not, I think our current coupons expire tomorrow so hopefully they will come out with new ones before the end of the month.
I believe this +UP includes the St. Joseph aspirin, Keri Lotion, and a whole long list of other things.
This is a beginner question and probably on the rite-aid site, I have about 13+upR to use and I have already “stockpiled my share of razors, shaving cream but if necessary will get pantene and more…any way I can buy a rite-aid gift card or some other gift card with the +upR befroe it expires?
cant use +ups to purchase gift cards ;(
A few ideas might be for some of the monthly up deals. Snap ware products are spend $15, get $5. If you have the gold discount, plus the $2/1 q’s, there are some good deals to be had. I buy a lot of bulk foods, and this is a great way to get containers to keep my pantry from filling with bulk bags. You could use these for Legos, or other small toys, toiletry or medicine samples, whathaveyou
Another idea is for the SensatioNail gel manicure kit, maybe for you or a present. They’re $59.99, but there’s a $10 vv q, and a $15 up for it. After gold discount and q’s, it comes to $22.99, which is a fantastic price for the LED lamp alone. I looked up some reviews for this product and they were all good.
Valerie,
Unfortunately you can’t use them on any giftcards. I can’t think of any easy ways for you to roll your $13 this week other than the items you already mentioned. One thing to keep in mind if you do get more Pantene is the P&G mail in rebate. It’s $15 when you buy $50 or more (before coupons!) and includes more products so it wouldn’t be hard to reach. You can submit multiple receipts as well.
Another easy one is milk, though this will depend where you live as some states have milk laws that restrict the use of coupons on it.
Anyone else have better ideas for Valerie?
I would do the Charmin scenario if it were me. Even if you use your +UP rewards, you can still get the $5 Saving Star reward (just be sure to load it to your card first). If you don’t do Saving Star, it’s still a great deal and I imagine you use toilet paper?
I do have until the 13th on the +up, so I have time, I do like Pantene, my husband said I already got him over 2 years of shave gel and razors so I can stop now. As for TP, I could, but we are doing the Amazon subscribe and save and my husband thinks all that tp in our closet is too much
When I find myself in this situation I end up getting things that I have no coupons for….in this house it’s coffee or some cleaning supplies
I was thinking of using mine on electric tooth brush heads which never seem to go on sale (except that crazy target mispricing deal recently that I missed out on).
I do need to get more Vicks vapopad refills for my daughter’s humidifier- any idea about coupons for those?
The 3/3 PG insert has a coupon for $1/1 any Vicks product, only exclusions are VapoDrops and the ZZZquil, so it should work on the pads.
Thanks again- I am figuring this out and was so proud today, but now I’m kicking myself…I did the pantene deal got 6 using the (2) $3/3 and the (3)BOGO and I got 2 Vicks Vapopads since not on sale (and not listed as part of the Vicks $30 get 10 +up) and used (2) $1/1 and with my 12.99 +Up I had a .26 credit that she just reduced the final coupon to make it 0 balance – I should have grabbed a candy bar or something!!! If this happens again I will know.
For these purchases like $30 for $10 +up, can they be from multiple purchases over the week?
They can! There should be some tracking info on the bottom of your receipt.
Some of us had trouble using ONE Pantene $3/3 along with 3 BOGO cpns–I have no clue how you could use TWO $3/3s successfully. (3 of the products were free with the BOGOs, so only one $3/3 at most should have been used.) In your case it would have made that deal a moneymaker.
I did the BOGOs first, then it wouldn’t scan the first $3/3 she she had to manually enter them. Last week she didn’t want to scan one of the coupons because the +up already came off so there would be an overage and she thought I would be happy paying $2…She started over and scanned everything and coupons first before my rite-aid card and then I ended up owing 0.
thank you!!! I cut it out but didn’t notice it was for any product, was scared I didn’t have it anymore, found it!!! going tomorrow!!
Another point, on this week’s deals-I finally went in yesterday & was studying the price tags:
Several of the lotions: Eucerin, Aquaphor, Aveeno have weekly and monthly tags. Has anyone gotten double +ups?
In my past experience with the weekly/monthly tags-somtimes they do & sometimes they don’t print both. AND sometimes they do, but just for a limited time.
As there was still product on the shelves (and especially Aquaphor- which would be free with both +ups)-I am thinking they aren’t both printing, but want to double check with others.
I did a little experiment today: Dove Men’s body wash also has weekly/monthly +ups, and with the VV and printed manu coupon-was a good price (plus used one of my +ups from Poise last week-so a great price either way).
It did NOT print out two +ups-only one. Then I looked closely at the weekly ad & the lotions above have in small print that the +ups run the monthly dates-so I think that is a clue that both monthly and weekly +ups won’t print out.
Thanks for figuring this out for us!
will this work?
Buy 5 Pantenes (3.25)= $16.99
Use 1 BOGO coupons (-$3.25)
Use (2) $2/off 2 coupons
Use (1) .50 cents off 1 coupons
Pay $8.99 – $5UP = 3.99 = .79 each
I think it will because the 2/2 is just counted as one coupon-even though it is on two products (just read a reply melody gave explaining Rite Aid allows this).
Everything but the $.50/1 coupon. The BOGO coupon will attach to one item and the (2) $2/2 coupons will attach to the other four items, so you wouldn’t be able to use the last one. Otherwise, looks good!
The best way to go, if you have the cpns and the store/cashier don’t reject it, is to buy 6, use 3 BOGOs and the $3/3 cpn. Some of us have faced issues with that, though. Seems to me you could also buy 5, use two BOGOs and either the $3/3 or $2/2 to reduce the price, but again, that may not fly. RA’s stated policy–which may be in a state of flux right now–is to allow use of a cents-off cpn with a BOGO promo or cpn, as long as the cents-off cpn doesn’t exceed the price of one item. (To further complicate it, I think the Pantene cpns say something about one cpn per product and quantity purchased.) I got 6 for $1.75 but only because the cashier said she’d make an exception for me. Good luck!
There is a VV for men’s dove-body wash $1. Also one for shaving/hair/deodorant, but I don’t see that those are part of this week’s sale.
Also a printable $1 on http://www.dovemencare.com/offers-promos/.
well only had one BOGO
Buy 5 Pantenes (3.25)= $16.99
Use 1 BOGO coupons (-$3.25)
Use (2) $2/off 2 coupons
Use (1) .50 cents off 1 (off the one buying in the BOGO?)
Pay $8.50 – $5UP = 3.50 = .70 each
the bogo beeped but was manually entered.
but the russel stovers eggs $3 for .99 and the $1 off 2 mars items
she said wasnt the same thing.. even though its a mars /snickers product but shows a package instead of individual on the coupon.
