Regarding the pantene deal, I dont read the policy the same way you seem to be. To me this states that if Rite aid was selling them BOGO then you could use a cents off coupon. But that we can not use a coupon to make the deal BOGO and then use the $3.00
**Rite Aid accepts Buy One, Get One Free coupons, however only one coupon can be used for each pair of items purchased. A customer can use one “cents off” coupon (a coupon of fixed value such as $.50, $1.25, etc.) in conjunction with the item they are purchasing on a Buy One, Get One Free promotion (or with a Buy One, Get One Free coupon), although the value of the cents off coupon cannot exceed the selling price of the item. Customers can use up to two coupons with a Buy One, Get One at a % off promotion, provided the total value of the coupons does not exceed the selling price of the two items combined.
I had the exact same concern a few weeks ago when we debated this online. The first two sentences are contradictory. However, I think I FINALLY figured this out. If you insert the word “BOGO” in the first sentence after “however only one” and before “coupon can be used,” then it makes a lot more sense. So it’s one BOGO cpn per 2 items, PLUS ONE cents-off cpn per 2 items, the latter NTE the selling price of one item.
Not to add any more confusion to this matter (by the way, I think the instructions regarding this matter were rather poorly written), but from talking to Rite Aid’s Corporate Customer Service (and trying to figure out what would make sense from both the manufacturer’s and Rite Aid’s points of view), I believe the intent is the following:
1. you can use one BOGO MQ when purchasing two items;
2. you can use one cents-off MQ when purchasing two items that are part of a Rite Aid-promoted BOGO promotion;
3. you can use two cents-off MQs when purchasing two items that are part of a Rite Aid-promoted BOGO%off promotion.
What is confusing is what they included in parantheses (“or with a Buy One, Get One Free coupon”), because it makes it sound like you can use a BOGO MQ and a cents-off MQ. However, that inclusion is referring to Rite Aid BOGO coupons (like what would be found in an ad), not BOGO MQs. Otherwise, Rite Aid would be allowing both a manufacturer’s BOGO coupon AND cents-off coupon to be used in the purchase of two items, which is generally a no-no.
That’s what customer service told you? That’s really strange, as they have told me completely different. It is a strange wording, but I take it to read that you can use a cents off with a BOGO coupon (which is also what they told me). The only reason I would question about the RA coupon from the ad is that as long as I’ve been doing RA match ups, I have never seen a BOGO store coupon in the ad. Did they mention those q’s to you when you talked to them?
Yes, that’s what I was told by a customer service rep a while back. It makes me think that not only is the wording in Rite Aid’s coupon policy confusing to customers, but it’s confusing to the employees who are trying to enforce it!
I finally went to one of the manufacturers who had both a BOGO coupon and a cents-off coupon out at the same time and asked them how they wanted customers to use the coupons. They said that they wanted customers to use one or the other, not both, so that’s what I’ve been doing. If Rite Aid does, in fact, accept both a BOGO and a cents-off coupon on two items, I think that they are doing it without realizing the impact to the manufacturers whose coupons they are redeeming.
never mind I re read and re read and then i got it
The Schick Hyrdo Silk razors should ring up to $9.59 with the gold discount. If done in one transaction, will only round to $29, not the $30 to trigger the +UP. So if you are at the gold level, you’d need to do each razor or refill as a separate transaction to get it to round up to $10 each.
I have a question on rite aid return policy.
ok so I bought some thing using my +ups and I have to return it because it does not work and they did not give me any back so basically I just used my +ups for nothing, I mean its like throwing my +ups away. is that the way it is with riteaid?
NO! Those UPs are yours to use in the store. If you return something that you purchased using UPs, then you should be able to apply them to something else. I’ve had them give the credit back to me in the form of a gift card and also cash. Call Rite Aid’s customer service number if you have any problems…I had to do this once with a very stubborn (and very uninformed) Rite Aid manager. Good luck!
I had the same issue, they changed mid stream. I purchased two of the same rebate items (seperately) in the same week not rembering that I bought the first one. So when I went to return the second one that I didn’t need or want the same thing happened to me, I used +Up Rewards to purchase the item. Previously they had just put it on a gift card but said things had changed. After reading blog comments, I contacted Rite Aid via the chat feature, I hate the telephone. They said that was not what the manager was supposed to do, I should get credit for my purchase and that if the manager still had a problem with it to tell the manager to contact corporate and they would explain it to him/her. I copied and pasted my “Chat” into a word document, printed it out, took it into the manager. She said she would talk to her District Manager because if was coming from him and gave her the copy I printed. The next time I was in the store, she apologized and said I would indeed get the credit that it was a wrong interpretation that was made and apologized. So…don’t let this happen, they are missinformed and Corporate will back you up.
Thanks a lot for all your hard work. I love the day you split the deals and what/how we can do.
Hey I haven’t looked the ad yet but in your deal scenarios for The schick you list
Deal 1: Hydro Silk Razor $6.99
and then
Deal 2: Hydro Silk Razor $9.99
Why are they different prices?
I think deal one should read 9.99 for razor. That is the only way it works.
My fault, typo!
Can’t seem to find a Softsoap cpn in 4-15 SS (Oregonian) or on their site. But still a good deal even w/o the cpn.
Also don’t see that cpn listed on the flnw.com coupon database.
It’s not in the Seattle area papers either – I think the Pacific NW was skipped. However, there is a $1/1 Softsoap bar soap coupon in the coupons that came in the Colgate toothpaste bonus coupon pack (a WAGS deal awhile back) and a $.35/1 coupon for Softsoap liquid soap in the Kroger “Get More from your Pharmacy” booklet. (Found mine at FM a couple weeks ago.)
There is also .50 coupons for the Softsoap liquid soap in the Colgate toothpaste bonus coupon pack that you mentioned. Man, those coupons in that bonus pack are great, I wish I had more!!!
If you buy the Physicians Eye Pencil at $5.50, and you get the 20 percent gold status discount, won’t that put you below the dollar amount necessary to trigger the Up reward?
If the ad says, “Buy 1, Get $4 +Up” it should not matter what the price of the item rings up to. You should get the Up for buying 1.
are you sure you can even buy the eye pencil priced at 5.50? because in the ad it states buy any of “THESE” items and get a $4up…
It says buy these items, but lists Physician’s Formula Eye Makeup under the picture so you should be fine. It doesn’t have to be what’s pictured.
felicia,
It works. I bought an eye pencil today that rang up at $4.40 (after my 20% discount), used a $1/1 coupon and received a $4 UpR.
I checked ALL FOUR of the cited SS inserts (Oregonian) and did not find a single Phys Formula cpn. The only one listed on the flnw database is 3-18, but I don’t have that one in my insert.
Maybe that “Physician” isn’t licensed in Oregon?
You’re too funny, Howard!
Apparently the “Physician” is licensed in Washington!
We got them in all 4 inserts. I generally buy 1 Columbian and 1 Oregonian each week. Usually the Oregonian has better coupons, but every once in awhile the Columbian wins the coupon race!
Sometimes there will be “regional” coupons that don’t show up in the Oregonian but show up in another paper. I usually get one of each, just in case.
It was not in the Oregonian but in the Statesman!
Howard – I have been entering the coupons into the NW Regional Coupon database for the Oregonian for over a year now and we have never received a Physician’s Formula coupon. This is definitely a regional coupon.
question about the pantene deal. if i pay $4 for the first transaction and use the up rewards for the second trancaction would i get another up reward? would it be a rolly deal?!
it says limit 2 so only 2 up rewards per a family or limit 2 up per transaction?! im not familiar with riteaid!
Jessica,
You can roll all UpR’s (so much easier than Walgreens!)
When there is a limit on a sale, it is tracked by your wellness card. For the Pantene deal, you will only receive 2 for the entire week.
will the schick hydro deal work even though it does not equal 30
I wondered that myself. I see these deals on this website sometimes, and they don’t quite add up to the minimum amt. Yet some readers post that the deal worked for them. I spent $24.27 on the recent L’Oreal deal (I didn’t factor in the 10% wellness discount ahead of time), so I had to buy another product to make the $25 threshold to get the $10 UP.
As long as you are within 49 cents of reaching the threshhold, you will get the +up. So you only have to be at $29.51 to get the $10 +up for the Schick Hydro. That is why this did not work on the above-mentioned L’Oreal deal. You would have needed to be at $24.51 to receive the up in that case. HTH!
So, if I buy the Jet Dry B1G1 at $5.99 or $5.40 (if my discount rings up), will I need to buy something else in addition to that in order to get the $2 +up, since it’s just a few cents short of the $6 needed to get the $2 +up?
Beth,
Since the Jet Dry is B1G1 your discount will not apply. You will only receive your discount if the item is not on sale or if the sale price is less than your 10% discount. You should be fine paying the $5.99 price and getting the $2 UpR. The register will round up the price if is it .49 or less than the necessary amount.
It didn’t at my store (Milwaukie). I purchased (in 3 transactions) 2 Hydro Silk razors, and one Hydro5 refills. My receipt tracked and showed $29.97 toward the +up.
Thank you, Brenda!
In the May 13th SmartSource there is Save 1$/2 Sour Patch/Swedish Fish coupon that would bring the price down to $1.00 each.
dang we always get hosed here in the North East, no Schick coupon this week or that one.
I didnt get my 10 up+ on the schick deal.. kinda mad.. spent over 30$ it didnt even trac it
I did the same thing today and NO $10 Up or tracking of it. Am hoping that someone can explain why that would happen??
Sandra and Robin – Contact Rite Aid customer service, have your receipt in hand to give them the info and they will send you an UP Reward very shortly.
I didn’t get the $10.00 Up from the Schick deal either. Is it because I did it in two separate transactions? I knew I was in trouble when my first transaction didn’t track on the bottom of my receipt like it normally does, but went ahead anyway with a second separate transaction to put me over the $30.00 requirement. DARN!!
No-it still should have worked-call 800-riteaid & they are generally very good at mailing you your +up. I have had this happen a few times in the past month.
The $1/1 Visine coupon is in the 4/15 Smartsource, not the Redplum for those that are having trouble finding it.
AND I got a $2.00 cat with the two Visine’s I purchased as well as the up rewards…….
I purchased two 184 count buggies sensitive, thick baby wipes and they’re marked as $8.49, but rang up at 75% or $2.12. I couldn’t find any coupons for these, but you may have some in a stash! This is an excellent deal on wipes. Does anyone know how long these will store, sealed in original packaging?
That is an awesome deal on wipes! I’m not an expert, but I’d think they’d be fine for a good while … at least 6-12 months (maybe longer) in a temperature-controlled environment.
Has anyone tried doing the Pantene deal where you buy (4) use (2) BOGO’s and (1) $3/1 coupon to see if the deal actually works?
I did it worked perfectly with no issues.. but now im concerned it was right from what others are saying
Worked for me today!
I have been wondering about this too. I learned that you can have one coupon per item & if you are buying 4 items-the 2 BOGO are for two items & the $3/2 would be on the other two items. Does this make sense to anyone else?
My store did not accept this. Only one coupon allowed.
Yes when I went to do it today-they only let me use the 2 BOGO on 4 pantene-it’s not my usual store, so I don’t know how knowledgeable the clerk was. Still pretty good-$3/4 pantene!
Are the Hydro Silk REFILLS included in the sale? Then I could use both $4 coupons that came this sunday. Thanks.
As I listed in the second Schick scenario, they are included and you definitely can use the coupons from this week’s paper.
They weren’t listed in the ad so I wasn’t sure. Thanks.
That’s strange! I’d have to look at the ad again, but I swear they were in there. I finished the match ups last Thursday so it’s been awhile.
Either way, I know they are working.
Just got back from the store and the Hydro Silk Refills are ringing up 16.49. So I ended up buying two Hydro Silks, 1 Hydro5 and 1 Shave Gel for get the deal. I thought I was looking at a 4 pk. Is there a smaller pack on sale?
Oh my goodness Suzanne, please accept my apologies! I just went back and looked at the ad and realized it is just the Hydro5 refills that are included. I’m not sure why I assumed they all were included??? I’m so sorry you made a trip, hopefully you got some things you needed. I guess I also assumed when people said the deal had worked for them that they had done the refills. Ugh. Sorry for the confusion!
Oh gosh Melody, I would have made the trip anyways. I love my RA! I usually try to buy the refills (you get 4 vs 2)when there is a sale like this as I have and keep just about every refillable razor handle made. I just wanted others to know that . Thanks!
On Sunday, I bought Zantac and Extra gum and used cpns from previous Sunday circulars. Tuesday afternoon I received the June All You mag in the mail and clipped out cpns for both products. The RA cash register rejected BOTH of them: it gave the cashier a msg that one was not useable until May 25, the other June 1 or something like that. I canceled the transaction. This has NEVER ever happened to me in my long history of using coupons. (Both have expiration dates on them, but not a beginning date.)
This has happened to me before…when i occasionally receive the weekend coupons in the Food Day or postal RP on Wednesday…Maybe the mag cpns are not good until the 1st of the month?
I have actually had this happen to me a couple times before as well. It’s part of the “new” barcodes on coupons- it includes a start date as well as an expiration date. It would be nice though if they are going to enforce that to have it visible on the coupon so that we aren’t blindsided when we are trying to use them legitimately.
Haven’t been to Rite Aid in awhile, but had a good trip today for a few items! I found several bags of the Wonderful pistachios – bought 4 of them, and got 3 $1 +Ups as expected … but also got 2 $2 +Ups on pistachios as well! What a deal! This was in Richland, WA.
