I have a question in general regarding the quantity in rain checks I request:
If an item has UP rewards with a limit of 1, but that item is on sale and I have a good manufacturer’s coupon, I should be able to get a rain check for more than one, right?
It is hard to explain that to the person issuing the rain check, but the limit is on the UP reward, not the sale price isn’t it? or does limit of one mean that a person can only purchase one item???

The Finish dishwasher detergent. I can not find the SCR for $3. I looked on the rite aide site and did not see it. Where is the rebate from and how do we assess it? It would be a great buy with the $3 rebate but not so without it.

Note that this week’s +UP- buy $10 scunci or conair hair accessories get $5 +Up
overlaps with this one on the black friday ad:
Scunci Elastics (18 pack) on sale $1.99
Buy 1, Get $1.99 +UP Reward – limit 2

Reply

so if you buy 5 of them on Wed-Friday you will pay $10, get 2-1.99 ups and 1-5 up?

Reply

charolyn November 21, 2011 at 2:19 pm

Yes, that’s how I see it. As only 2 scunci give you +ups-you can get other hair accessory items (scunci or conair types) for the other $6.02. Also you can buy the $6.02 amounts any time this week.
I agree-great stocking stuffers.

Air wick deal is working fine with Aerosols. There is a coupon .50/2 making it a mm or u can use e-savings coupons if it was downloaded.

Reply

Amit November 20, 2011 at 5:24 pm

What I meant by it works is that there is a tag under Aerosol that says submit for $3 SCR. But it also said the price was $1.69 so I was confused but I decided to take it to the cash register and ask them to do the price check for me and it turned out that you pay $1.69 without Store Loyalty card and w/card it is $1.00. Phew! that was a huge relief.

I just bought two Garnier dandriff shampoo’s at $5.49 before coupons and didn’t get my $3 UP’s. I looked at the ad and it says for items that regular retail are $3.99-$4.99. So the price would be $1.99 each after $4 rebate, not .49.

Reply

Melody November 20, 2011 at 3:38 pm

Thanks for updating us. That’s why I left the disclaimer under the deal, asking to check your tags before purchasing. I wasn’t 100% sure if my store just had a higher price than others.

My Rite Aid will not let me return an item if I paid with +Up Rewards. I had an item last month that did not qualify, actually I went in twice and bought the item a second time by mistake, but paid with +Up Rewards and they would not let me return it, not even for another product, not even putting the money on a Rite Aid Gift Card as they have done in the past. What this created was the purchase of an item I really didn’t want at a price I would never had paid for it. Stuck with it. I guess people were doing this in my town to get their money back when they got the +Up Reward for the item which they kept. Greed creates problems for all of us. Just stating because of what you said about an item not qualifying you could return it to the store, be aware, find out for sure from your store before you pruchase with +Up Rewards.

Reply

Melody November 19, 2011 at 7:14 pm

That’s a really good point Dianne, thank you. When they changed their policy regarding coupon usage, they also included rules about returning items paid with +UP Rewards or that coupons were used for. I’m glad you mentioned this!

Actually, I spent a lot of time going around and around with a certain Rite Aid manager on this very subject before contacting both the corporate and district/regional Rite Aid offices. The outcome? If an item is purchased using an UP reward, you cannot return it for cash nor will you be issued a replacement UP reward. Rite Aid IS, however, supposed to apply the UP reward portion of your return to your new purchase (if you are returning something and buying something else at the same time) or put it on a merchandise return card to be used sometime in the future. The problem is, some people (managers, too!) misinterpret the wording on the UP rewards (about it being for one-time-only use) to mean that you cannot reuse the value of the UP reward. You absolutely can…it’s yours, as a reward for shopping at Rite Aid, after all! What you cannot do is reuse the UP reward coupon itself. So, say, if you had a $5 UP reward, you cannot buy $5 of merchandise with it, hold onto the UP reward instead of surrendering it, and then use it to buy another $5 in merchandise. You might say, well, duh, of course not, but stores and manufacturers often state the obvious on their coupons just to further protect themselves. As for returning something bought with an UP reward, you can return it, use the credit to buy something else, even return that, too, if you want. In the end, you’re still talking about the same fixed amount of money that you were issued in the form of an UP reward, regardless of how it is ultimately spent at Rite Aid. Hope that helps!

Reply

Dianne November 20, 2011 at 9:34 pm

So Since my Rite Aid refuses to do this what would you suggest that I do about it. What would be the way to pursue it. Do you have anything from Corporate in writing etc. that I can show them? Thanks for your input, it is so appreciated. This is how we learn when we share our experiences with others, thank you.

Reply

Melody November 20, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Unfortunately, their coupon policy doesn’t address this at all. You can contact Rite Aid directly through their website to see if they will send you something in writing, but I truthfully don’t know the answer.

Steph November 21, 2011 at 1:15 pm

The easiest thing would be to try another Rite Aid. Most of them, from my experience, are good about giving you the full amount back as credit. I even had one store this past weekend give me the UP reward portion back in
cash (!). If there isn’t another Rite Aid close-by, I would call Corporate and explain the situation. I had to do this on three separate occasions regarding my neighborhood store and all three times Corporate agreed with me. Not only did they credit me my UP rewards, they sent me a $10 “apology” gift card each time. The sad part, however, is that the manager at my store (at last check) still refuses to give credit for UP rewards. I don’t know why (when it is hurting so much financially) Rite Aid would rather repeatedly pay out apologies to customers than to permanently fix a management problem, but there you go. Perhaps it is that kind of thinking that explains why they ARE hurting so much. Anyways, good luck!

Dianne November 22, 2011 at 11:16 am

I have two Rite Aid’s where I live, this one is the “friendly” one if you will, the other one not so much so… I wish I lived somewhere where there were more of them.

Amit November 20, 2011 at 5:20 pm

My Store takes back the item if partially paid by up-rewards and minuses that amount (up+ reward amount)and what ever left over we paid OOP gives us back. The whole thing is same as yours. It is sad but you are so right that people who misused this on purpose made it hard for everybody.

Reply

Dianne November 22, 2011 at 11:17 am

That would work but my OOP is NEVER over $.50 so I’m not going to give up $8.00 for a $.50 refund.

Reply

Brenda November 19, 2011 at 5:33 am

My Rite Aid (Vancouver, WA) has the same price as you do ($5.49) for the Garnier Anti-Dandruff Intense Cleanser or Clear Control Shampoo.
I wonder if this deal would work for those of us that have the 20% discount because they will ring up at $4.39?

Reply

Melody November 19, 2011 at 5:36 am

That’s a really good question! If your store would allow it, possibly purchase them without coupons and see if the reward prints. Then have the cashier do a “post coupon”, where they credit you for the coupons you would have used. I can check it out on Sunday morning as well.

There was a question about the Estrogen and the Probiotics on page 1, if you get two $15 UP, one for each and I got one yesterday and went in and asked an associate that I know has been there for years and she said that you get one on both item, because it says per brand.
So I got my second one today!

Reply

Melody November 18, 2011 at 8:31 pm

The math doesn’t makes sense on the below deal…
****Deal Scenario****
(4) Finish Gel Dishwashing Detergent (75 oz) $5.29
Use (2) $1/1 Finish Rite Aid Video Values coupon (October or November)
Pay $8.58, Submit for $3 SCR
$1.40 each after coupons and rebate
**************************
If you buy 4 @ 5.29, the price is $21.16 – $2 (using 2 $1/1) – $3 rebate = $16.16
Or $4.04 each

If you buy 2 @ $5.29 – $2 (using 2$1/1) – $3 rebate = $5.58
Or $2.79 each

Even if the total price for either 2 or 4 is $5.29, and using coupons and rebates (- $2 and – $3) the final price is .29

I can’t get it to add up.

Can you please explain the math so it makes sense – either you buy 2 and pay $2.79 each or buy 4 and pay $4.04 each – but either way the math doesn’t add to the “scenario”.

Reply

Melody November 18, 2011 at 3:47 pm

Sorry, that is a little misleading. If you notice in the first match-up where I list all the coupons, it says all the Finish products are BOGO. If you buy 4 at $5.29, two will ring up free.

Reply

Lori November 18, 2011 at 2:45 pm

Do you just watch all the videos each month and print as you need? I have been watching as they match the ad. How long will the video coupons stay ready to print?

Reply

Melody November 18, 2011 at 3:01 pm

I try to watch them all and remind everyone to watch them before they are unavailable, but I still sometimes forget. :) I do watch them as they match the ad, but the day or two before the offers disappear, I try to watch as many as I can, just in case.

The October coupons, for example, will stay in your account until close to the end of November. The November coupons will stay in your account until close to the end of December and so on.

I’m confused about the Samy fat foam hair color deal. The Rite Aid Video Values coupon says it’s good for “any Samy signature item (Excludes Fat Foam Hair color).” Without that coupon, I get it to be .99 each instead of an overage.
I’m also confused on the Finish Rinse sale. It says to use (2) $1/1 Rite Aid Video values coupons. I have two (1 from October and 1 from November), but each says “Limit one per customer.)”
What am I missing?

Reply

Melody November 18, 2011 at 2:27 pm

The Fat Foam coupon was from October, the Signature coupon is from this month’s offers. I actually missed watching the Fat Foam coupon from October, but it’s on my list that I get from Rite Aid each month. Do you have it in your October offers in your account?

On the Finish sale, you can use one VV coupon from each month. The “one per customer” means that you can’t use multiples of the monthly coupon. So you couldn’t print two of the October coupons and use those. Does that make sense?

Reply

Mandy November 18, 2011 at 2:41 pm

Thanks for explaining those! I don’t have the October offer for fat foam in my account, but I can do the Finish deal. Glad to see I can use two different months to get a great price!

The Samy stylers are also on the $8.99 sale and you can use the Nov VV for $2 off and get the $5 +UP for a final cost of $1.99. (Most of the stylers at my store were regularly $10.49 so $8.39 if you have the gold discount with a final cost of $1.39)
