I’m finally getting to the age I need makeup to even things out so I’m getting the CG deal but I have no idea what to do. I’m splitting with my sister so I don’t have all this stuff to buy but if I understand right is it true when we buy 6 that the 3 cheapest of the items will be 50% off?
I think I will go with one true blend and a concealer stick but I can’t think of anything else I would need. Any thoughts or ideas. I just want a smoother/even color look to my face. I don’t like the dry powdery look. I got a sample of natural foundation and liked the look and feel but it is 13.99. So that price isn’t helping my deal:(
Any suggestions and help would be appriciated:)

I don’t have a definitive answer for you but I would be worried about buying 6 items of different prices because I think the three cheapest ones will ring up 50%.

One good way around this though is to make your purchase in three transactions, i.e., buy two $10 items, then buy two $8 items, then buy two $5 items. That way you know you will get the item of the same price at 50% off. The UP reward is cumulative (you don’t have to buy all the items in one transaction like Walgreens) but you will want to make sure your purchases are getting added to your UP Reward total at the bottom of your receipt because sometimes it takes a few minutes for the computer to catch up to the register.

I end up coming with in cents of the $30 or $50 so I’m going to bite the bullet and just do one big transaction to get the $10 up and $10 mail in rebate. And buy a round of Dove Shampoo and Kleenex I think my sister will be happy to pay out $6-7 dollars and get all this then not:)

Reply

Melody October 4, 2011 at 7:55 pm

Kathy gave great advice! I did something similar with the Aveeno deal and ended up paying a few $$ more because different items triggered the 50% off than I thought. I had my kids in tow so I wasn’t thinking super clearly. :)

In regards to the makeup, I was thinking about going with the Trublend mineral makeup which is $9.99 at my store. I’ll pay a few dollars more out of pocket, but I like the mineral makeup for it’s coverage and lighter feel. Might as well get something we want instead of what is the absolute cheapest, especially if the difference isn’t that much!

Sid anyone have probs with the P&G spend $30 get $10 UP? Bought $35 worth of items including Covergirl make up, Secret antiperspirant and Venus razors. The only items that counted toward my UP reward was the makeup. I do plan on going back when a manager is there to fix but am wondering if I did something wrong….

the ricola cough drops are on sale 2/3.00, with a $1 up when you buy 2. there is also a buy 1 ricola dual action (which is included in the sale/up) & get 1 regular free. I just did this & it worked perfectly.
Scenerio: buy 2 ricola cough drops (1 must be the dual action) 3.00
get $1 up
get 1 free $1.50
total cost $.50 for 2 (.25cents each)

P&G Scenario – pretty simple one!
2 CG Makeup – 9.99, 4.99
2 Olay Regenerist items Microderm (love it) 31.99, 15.99
total $62.96
-$8, $10 cpns
Paid $44.96 – $10 up – $10 mail in = $24.96 oop

oh and bottom of receipt printed codes where you can get free Taylor Swift merchandise – no shipping costs either!

Cindy October 6, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I split my CG into 2 transactions (used my card & my mom’s) so I got the $10 +up twice, then submitting for the $10. It was a $15 MM or so plus I got lots of points toward my status for next year.

I read they are doing this deal again in 2 weeks so saving my CG coupons for that.

charolyn October 2, 2011 at 6:14 pm

The 1.60 Oral B toothbrush SCR deal-also includes the complete type that is on this coupon also:
$2/1 complete-toothpaste, mouthwash or toothbrush coupon from 9/11 SS insert
so will end up being a money maker!!
On sale for 2.59.

Tracy October 2, 2011 at 1:35 pm

I saw a deal scenario someone had posted about doing the cg deal with foundation and mascara and end cost being a dollar and some change. The coupons though say for face products. I wouldn’t thInk mascara will work? Right?

Reply

Lori October 2, 2011 at 6:13 pm

Correct, mascara will not work. The face coupon is for foundation, powders, bronzers, blushes and concealers. If you look at the CG website it has these items listed under face products.

Got a great deal on Covergirl this morning! Just make sure to double check the prices before you buy. My store didn’t have their sale prices posted and I had to re-calculate at the register (with two toddlers in tow). Not fun! Totally worth it though :)

Carla October 2, 2011 at 9:16 am

Southern Cali Saver says that there are 2 overlapping Aveeno deals but I sure can’t put my hands on the coupons she mentions. But just in case others have it, she says there are TWO overlapping UP deals:

■Purchase $30 of select Aveeno or Neutrogena items, Get $10 UP (weekly deal)
■Purchase $20 or of Select Aveeno Hair or Skin items, Get $10 UP (monthly deal)

Did I misplace our coupons or did we not get them – 9/11 SS $3.00/2?

Rebecca October 2, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I can’t find the Aveeno coupons either. Maybe the Oregonian did get them?

The Seattle times got those coupons and the deal worked great today!! I bought 4 Aveeno baby washes, 1 aveeno hair conditioner, and 1 120z lotion. Used (2) $3/2 coupons, (2) $1/1 coupons, (1) $2/1 Aveeno hair care video value coupon, and (1) $1/1 Aveeno baby video value coupon from September. I got (2) $10 up rewards making my total oop 84 cents!!!

Carla October 2, 2011 at 2:52 am

(Yes, it’s 3am.) :(

Tylenol Precise Heat Patch is on sale for $5.99. Spend $20, get $5.00UP and there are $3.00/1 Q, exp. 10/31. So, buy 4 (@$23.96) – (4) $3.00 Q – $5.00UP = $6.96/4 = $1.74 each. Did I do that right?

Reply

Melody October 2, 2011 at 8:11 am

Perfect! Sorry I missed that one, I got the flu about halfway through the match ups, so I was really hoping I got everything. :)

Reply

Carla October 2, 2011 at 2:37 am

For the Pantene, I have a $3/2 coupon, exp. 10/31, making them $2.00 each. Since I clip all coupons, I don’t know which insert it was from. :(

covergirl: I am completely out of foundation so trying this one.
4 liquid at 11.49 (1 will be 1/2 off). 2 powder at 9.00. (both 1/2 off) . comes to 50.21.
10 rebate
10 SCR
3 $8 coupons.

equals $6.22 cents for 6 foundations! absolutely crazy..

only problem. since I have discount I need to up the purchase to get to the $50.. maybe try out the more expensive foundation or extra product (eye shadow/make up pads.. something).

If my theory is off on this please let me know.

Reply

Christy October 1, 2011 at 9:42 pm

typo.. the $9 is $9.99 on the powder.

Reply

Melody October 2, 2011 at 8:10 am

That’s a great scenario, thanks for sharing!

You’re fine on the math, your discount only kicks in on non-sale items. So when products are BOGO or BOGO 50% off, your discount won’t trigger.

Again, thanks for the scenario, great deal!

Reply

Kim October 2, 2011 at 6:06 pm

I did kind of the same thing but just bought 2 foundation and 2 powder. There are other products that work for the rebate, not just CG. I have a receipt with $6 from Aussie last week and might do some cheap CG at Walmart with the $8/2 to get the rest that I need. I hear Walmart has blush for less than $4 so mm with the coupons.

NOT a good price on the EmergenC! You can get these at New Seasons right now for $7.99! Great stuff though.

Thanks for the feedback, Anna. I guess it’s not too bad of a price for those of us without a New Seasons, not too much more. I’ve never tried it, may have to pick some up.

I need makeup, I am on my last bottle of CG age defying foundation from when it was free last spring. So….I plan to do 2 foundation and 2 powder using 2 of the $8/2. Not free but I need it and have UPs to spend and can use it towards the PG rebate.
