Will up rewards still print if you’re short by only a few pennies on qualifying purchases? For example must spend $10 on “x” items to earn $5UP, however total only comes to 9.97 or 9.99. I know the CVS policy is the reward will print if at 98% of the spent value. Can’t find RA’s policy or blogs on this. Thanks!

Brenda October 5, 2012 at 4:02 am

Jess,
Unfortunately, RiteAid has stopped rounding up on deals. You have to actually spend $10 or more for it to print the UpR.

I bought the Pull ups yesterday. They were suppose to be $10 they rung up at $9.99 so I was 3 cents short of the $10 up!

I bought the Wet’N'Wild nail polish, 5 of them, had 5copupons.. I was informed you can only use 4 of the same coupon in one transaction, and that is all stores is what the cashier told me. I did not know that, she took all 5 ” I will take them all this time, but next time I will not, she said.

Reply

charolyn September 21, 2012 at 9:02 am

Yes that is their policy now-to only take 4 like coupons at once.
And it is your rite aid discount-probably the 20% that gave you the price of 9.99 on your diapers. You have to watch that-because if 20% off the regular price is better than the sale price-that is what you will pay.

What is the stock-up price on toilet paper? The Scott TP deal, buy 4 at $8 each, use 4 $1 coupon, receive $10 up reward, net $18. Right?? I am needing TP this week and need to get some stock in the bathrooms. Suggestions?

Reply

Howard September 20, 2012 at 3:50 pm

I like the Walgreens Real Soft, regular price $5 for 400 sq ft of 2-ply. Occasionally they have it for $4. Winco house brand TP runs abour $4.88 for same size. If you go with big-name brands, you will pay a lot more for less paper.

Reply

Barbara September 20, 2012 at 4:54 pm

I always shoot for 1 cent or less per square foot.

Reply

charolyn September 21, 2012 at 9:08 am

The Scott extra soft TP (which is what the $1 coupon is on-in this week’s SS) is my favorite-and at $4.50 on this deal (you are correct Nancy-$18/4) /656 sq ft beats yours Howard :-) & your .01/ square foot Barbara by a long shot!!
And you don’t have to use a ton of it like the regular single ply Scott.

Reply

NancyF September 21, 2012 at 10:49 am

Thanks for the help. I picked them up and am enjoying stocked bathrooms.

Reply

Laura, SW Pdx September 21, 2012 at 11:02 am

Isnt the Scott Extra Soft 1 ply? I need TP but prefer 2 ply and I think Howard’s fav is a 2 ply….???

Melody is it possible to remind the “memory challenged people”of what the monthly deals are….on a weekly basis? I have the worst memory and sometimes I don’t even see that something is a Monthly dealio.
Or is there a special ad or place that says soley what the monthly deals are? I would save it to my monthly calendar and refer to it while shopping with the regular weekly deals.

Reply

Melody September 17, 2012 at 9:10 pm

I do my best to notate the monthly deals in the weekly posts, but I’ll try to focus on it a little more.

The Schick Hydro 3 razors are about $1 less with the 20% discount also-regular price is about $9.99 (stores vary a bit).

DK September 16, 2012 at 7:16 pm

If you do the Biore deal above with the Wellness Plus discount, the total will only be $6.39, before $5 +Ups, making each item only 70 cents!

Reply

Melody September 16, 2012 at 8:22 pm

Oh man, you’re right! I wasn’t even thinking about the discount triggering on both items. Thanks!

Also found a decent deal in the Sally Hansen beauty tools sale.
2 pk emery boards for $2.49/1.24, used a $1 coupon from today’s insert, paid $2.73 and will submit for 2 $1 SCR.

There’s a possible moneymaking deal on The Natural Dentist mouthwash.
It’s on sale this week BOG50% and receive a $1 UpR when you purchase 2. Plus, there is a monthly $3 UpR printing for each one (not sure what the limit is on this, but I received 2) and a $5 Mail In Rebate and a $2 coupon.
Here’s what my transaction looked like:
Buy 2 Nutural Dentist Healthy gums mouthwash $6.99/3.49
Used 1 $2 coupon (available on commonkindness . com)
Paid $8.48
Received 1 $1 UpR, 2 $3 UpR’s and will submit for the $5 rebate.

Here’s the link to the rebate:
(note: rebate is valid on the antigingivitis rinse only, look for the red caps and white bottle)

Here’s a pretty good deal on L’Eggs (although I didn’t buy them):
3-pack trouser socks $4.69, 2nd pair half-off $2.34. Pay $7.03, get $5 UP. Limit 3 UPs per household. There are numerous other L’Eggs products at $5.29+ that also qualify (2nd pkg is 50% off) for the UP.

Howard September 16, 2012 at 3:12 pm

For anyone who uses haircolor: Excellence by L’Oreal is in the RA ad, two for $16.98, less $5 in-ad cpn. There is an UP offer of $10 on $30 purchase (they do NOT have to be in the same transaction). There are $5/2 and $2/1 cpns in today’s paper. (NOTE: the in-ad $5 cpn reads Limit 1 per customer. Some stores adhere to this, some don’t. I went to 2 RAs that are near each other.) Bought 5 @ $7.19 each (20% Wellness discount came off the $8.99 regular price); used two $5/2 and one $2/1 cpns and two $5/2 in-ad cpns. Paid a total of $13.95 and rec’d a $10 UP in return. If you have the 10% discount, buy 4 (should ring at $8.09 each), use two $5/2 cpns and two in-ad $5 cpns, pay $12.36 and get $10 UP. With no wellness discount, pay $33.96 for four, use the 4 aforementioned cpns, pay $13.96 and get $10 UP.

Howard September 22, 2012 at 4:12 pm

You’re welcome, although I haven’t rocked much since the 1970s. (I actually was in the Woodstock movie for about 3 seconds.) My wife and daughter like Excellence, so you might too.

Here’s an alternative to the Allegra deal mentioned above:
Buy one for $17.99 and four Hall’s drops for $1.79 each. Total $25.15 (WARNING: if any of these ring up with wellness discount, you will have to add more Hall’s or something else in that UP category).
Use Allegra cpn ($7 that expires today, or one of the $4-5 online ones) and two $1/2 Hall’s cpns from today’s paper. Submit for SCR $2 and get $10 UP for spending $25. Could be as low as $4.15 net.
Didn’t try this yet, as I didn’t think of it before going out today. Might go back tonight to use that $7 cpn.

Reply

Howard September 16, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Went back and it worked perfectly. Wellness discount never came into play. Bought 4 Halls drops, 1 30-count Allegra, used $9 in cpns, total was $25.15 before, $16.15 after. Rec’d $10 UP and submitted $2 SCR. $4.15 net for over $33 worth of products.

Does RA take a mfg coupon issued from Cat machine that says redeem at Safeway?

Reply

Brenda September 16, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Laura,
I have had luck doing it before, but it was at a store that is really coupon friendly and they will only take it if it scans properly. I would encourage you to give it a try and see what the cashier says.

Here are a couple other monthly deals to watch for:
1. Buy $25 get $10 +up-
I did this this week & got 2 childrens advil, 2 migraine advil & 1 Dimetapp-the Advils have $2 SCR (2 of each)-and there are printable coupons-net OOP is .63! My friend has a rebate form she ordered coming also which these might qualify for.
Note I have a 20% discount & they are all regular prices now -without it you may only need to buy 4 items.
2. Ampro Goo hair styler-if your store carries the small $1.99 size-buy 2 get $4 +up (I have checked several stores now & only saw it in one of them-and they were out)
3. Rite Aid home fragrances (again for those stores that carry it-possibly only the larger ones) buy 2/$3+up. There are 1.49 sachets & some kind of incenses reported.\
4. Party Balloons (I have seen some by the cards-but not labeled, so haven’t tried it yet) 1.99 buy 2 get $3+up

Brenda September 15, 2012 at 3:39 pm

Thanks for the reminders, Charolyn!
Last week I did a similar deal to your first one, I’m assuming the rebate that you are referring to is the Pfizer one?
Bought
3 thermacare = $5.59 each (after my 20% discount)
1 Advil migraine 20 count = 3.99
1 Advil migraine 40 count = 5.59
Total = $26.35
used 3 $3 coupons (thermacare), 2 $1 coupons (advil)
Paid $15.35 plus tax
Receive $10 UpR, $10 MIR (themacare), 2 $2 SCR (Advil)

I noted the balloon deal last week, are you saying you think the upr is going on this week as well? I was in a hurry when I spotted it; there were hang tags but I didn’t think to look at the limit. I’m hoping the deal is still going on- after I left I thought “where else can you get 20 balloons for .18 cents?” I love RA <3

As I understand it-it is a monthly +UP. My stores haven’t had the tags up-so I can’t confirm that & I haven’t tried buying it yet-makes me leery when there isn’t a tag!

Thank you Charolyn for posting these monthly deals. I wouldn’t have seen the Ampro hair gel deal. I bought the smaller and bigger size with my 20% discount total was $4.14 then with $4 up it was .07 cents for each. It looks like molasses but I’ll try it for that price ;) .

Yes that is the nice thing about these deals-you can try something new & even if it ends up being terrible-you aren’t out much :-)

Maybe this is old news to some people, but I just realized yesterday that my ups were being applied with the ones with the longest expiration date being used first. So, I still had several ups in my account that expire tomorrow, while more recent ones had been redeemed.

Oh no, Carol that is horrible! Well, at least you figured it out before they expired, right?!
I opted out of the Load2Card the first chance I got, because I was afraid of things like that happening.

Yes I am like you Brenda & hearing things like this just reinforces my choice. Also someone else shared the +ups come off before the coupons-so then they couldn’t use the coupons.

The whole Load2Card was a disaster. I’m in Seattle so was in the test market. It was awful! Over half of the time UPR didn’t get loaded to the card correctly +/- didn’t show up online +/- didn’t come off correctly at register. You have NO control over which $ value or exp. date of UPR is being used in what transaction. Since you put in your wellness card at the beginning of the transaction, UPR come off automatically before they start scanning the coupons, so if you have more UPR than your total, you won’t be able to use your coupons, which DUH what is the point then?! The only workaround that I found was to not let them have my wellness card/# until after they scanned all my coupons, but they were NOT happy about doing that. It took me talking to cashiers at 2 different stores and 3 calls to customer service to get opted out because it kept saying I was opted out but kept loading to the card. Luckily RA customer service is really nice and had no problem mailing out UPR that I didn’t receive but OMG it was such a mess! Obviously Load2Card is awesome for casual users but for serious couponers it is a massive headache. I highly recommend everyone opting out asap.

Where do you opt out?? I didn’t find an opt out opption but I am sure I just missed it. Thanks for the info I would have been so mad.

charolyn September 16, 2012 at 8:46 am

They can do it at the store for you.

In WA (tacoma area) Dr Pepper is considered a pepsi product. I have purchased DP many many times on pepsi deals (sadly Im an addict) ;)

I always thought dr pepper, 7-up and a&w were separate from coke or pepsi, but dr pepper was included in the pepsi deal at safeway a couple weeks back.

Dr Pepper deals will vary state to state. It actually is under it’s own group called Dr Pepper Snapple Group. However, they don’t have a large network of distributors so they use Coke or Pepsi bottlers (depending on what’s available in each state.)
I don’t completely understand it though, because it does seem like sometimes it’s included in the Pepsi deals and sometimes it’s not in Washington state. I don’t ever remember seeing it as part of a coke deal here.
I would recommend just having the cashier see if it rings up on sale (that’s what I did this week).

Is it just me or is this ad boring?!
Oh well, I will be happy with some free chocolate and wait to see if any other good deals pop up!

Melody,
I’m pretty sure the Dr Pepper coupons are $1/2-12 packs, so you would only be able to use one for the deal listed above.
Thanks for all your hard work on posting these deals so early!

“Free” and “chocolate” are 2 of my fave words. What deal are you referring to?

charolyn September 15, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Me too Howard-It’s under this heading:
Skinny Cow Chocolate (6 pack), Brookside (7 oz), Lindt or Ghirardelli Pouches or Hershey’s Simple Pleasures (5.6 oz)
The Simple Pleasures are free with the insert coupons-money maker if you have the Flu Shot coupon book.

Charolyn’s right, it’s the Simple Pleasures that I plan on getting for free! However, I’m tempted by the Brookside’s Dark Chocolate Acai with Blueberry. These chocolate covered pieces of fruit are like heaven on earth, but tend to be too expensive for me. I might just have to splurge and get a bag of these, too!

charolyn September 15, 2012 at 10:24 pm

Hmm-you have me thinking about the Brookside’s chocolate too!! I do try and watch how much candy I get-even if it is a great price-one should only eat so much!

Howard September 16, 2012 at 2:52 pm

I was surprised not to see this deal in the RA list for this week. Melody rarely misses anything. I was going to post it myself if you hadn’t mentioned it after I inquired about free chocolate. I already used up my 3 Simple Pleasures cpns at Target and got 3 for free, but it took multiple visits.
Chocolate has no calories if you take small bites, my friends.

Howard September 16, 2012 at 2:53 pm

Tigard RA has refused 2X to give me a flu shot book w/o getting the shot. I keep forgetting to try another store.

Melody September 16, 2012 at 3:05 pm

I didn’t miss it Howard, it’s in there! Perfect record intact? :)

Laura, SW Pdx September 19, 2012 at 9:23 am

This feels like a dumb question, but I want to be sure…re the free chocolate..I did it yesterday..even got the flu shot while I was there! Does “Limit 2 +UP offers per household price with wellness+ card” mean I can do this deal again ( limit =2 bags/1 time or 2 times=total of 4 bags?)

charolyn September 19, 2012 at 1:58 pm

Not a dumb question Laura-everyone wonders when they first start. You can do it 2 times-so = 4 bags.
When a +up requires more than one item purchased-that +up = one per group of items.

Laura, SW Pdx September 19, 2012 at 2:02 pm

Thank you Charolyn – you just made my day! More FREE chocolate is always good!

charolyn September 14, 2012 at 9:24 pm

coupontom.com says there are $1 Scott coupons-but it expires 9/16, so have to jump on it the first day.
