There are an outrageous amount of BOGO sales this week.  Honestly, I don’t know what half the products even are.  I did my best to track down the best coupon match ups and find prices for all the items I could, but please check your local ad before shopping.  This is quite the ad (again).  I did check the Rite Aid Load2Card website and there aren’t any coupons that are higher value to make it worth it.  Remember, these will come off BEFORE any paper coupons, so don’t load them if they are lower value.

I went to print the OB coupon for $2/1 and the add said the program has ended. Is there a different place I can get this coupon?

Kitty January 10, 2012 at 8:37 am

My Rite Aid (Washougal) has Crest 3D vivid white toothe paste marked down 75% off making them $1.12 each. Used .75/1 coupons making them .37 cents each

RA on Farmington in Aloha has plenty of OB and Reach toothbrushes in stock. So go get your free tampons!

Reply

charolyn January 9, 2012 at 9:42 pm

They are the best in the area for having items in stock. Also if you don’t see it ask-I have seen the shelves empty before & they still had lots in back.
Sometimes too they will have extra on the back ends of the aisles.

Also, I have a question about rebates. If you are supposed to have bought 8 items and you do a BOGO twice (pay for 4 but get 8), is that considered 4 or 8 items? I have a Spin-brush rebate for from 2-8 items, and would like to max them, but don’t want to be shorted if I send what I think she be 8 and is only considered to be 4. I don’t see any place to contact regarding the rebate.

Reply

Melody January 9, 2012 at 7:29 pm

As far as a manufacturer rebate goes, I would assume they will give you credit for 4 of the Spinbrushes. If it were a Rite Aid SCR offer, they would give you credit for 8.

I just came back from RA. A bit overwhelmed as I had ridden the bus and had my infant granddaughter and then found the 75% off stuff I am stocking up for next year’s Operation Christmas Child. So didn’t watch well enough (they forgot to get my card number on the 3rd ticket and I didn’t want to make them return 130 items and then rebuy them, which is $43 worth) and see on my first receipt that none of the BOGO 1/2 off items at regular price reflected my 20% discount I earned last year. Isn’t that supposed to happen automatically? I know I made my shopping list based on the list above, and that included the discount. Plus, she missed a $3 coupon, so that is almost $8 total. What do I say to the manager to get the discount? Or is the above information in error? I think it should have come up. It came up OK on the Visine (not buy one get one 1/2 off). Thank you.

Reply

Melody January 9, 2012 at 6:59 pm

Your discount will only come off on a single regular priced item, like the Visine. If an item is BOGO 50% off and you buy 2, the 50% discount on the 2nd item will override your Wellness+ discount. Same as with a straight BOGO sale, you will notice that you will pay full price for the 1st item, $0 for the 2nd but your Wellness+ discount will not go into effect. So it sounds like your items rang up correctly. Does that make sense? All of the scenarios listed above are shown with full price for the 1st item, 50% off for the 2nd item. I only list the Wellness+ discount when I know the items to be at regular price.

As for the $3 coupon, I’m not sure there is much you can do. The next time you go in, they won’t have the coupon in their registers anymore to check. You could call the store tonight and ask if there is anything they would be willing to do?

Has anyone had the $3 +up on the Bic, Sharpie, Uniball, Papermate and Expo Writing Utensils++ items work out? I looked today & there are tons of items with this label, but I know it hasn’t been working as written. I asked a clerk who thought the way it was worded if you got two items (as they are BOGO50%) it should work-but I told her it hasn’t in practice & she hasn’t seen anyone get it yet.

Question on the Neutrogena rebate – does anyone know if it’s $30 before or after coupons? Some of these rebates are picky, so I wanted to be sure it was before coupons. The form says ‘purchase $30 worth” so to me that says before coupons…
thanks.

Reply

Julie B January 9, 2012 at 12:04 pm

Update — I just found this in the fine print on the rebate form itself: “Purchase requirement calculated before taxes and after other discounts have been applied.” This means you have to spend $30 after coupons and +UPs.
Bummer!

Reply

kris January 9, 2012 at 1:28 pm

i think you are all reading into that small print too much, i believe it means before taxes and after all other discounts have been applied…………..i think it means if its BOGO 1/2 off you have to use the final price not the origional of both.

Reply

Steph January 10, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Actually, Julie B. is right. Check out my response above dated 1/8. Neutrogena’s customer service is VERY adament that the $30 must be met AFTER all coupons and UP Rewards, etc. are used. They’re claiming that it’s too hard to differentiate between their own coupons and UP Rewards. Really?!! It seems pretty easy to me to tell the difference when UP Rewards show up on your receipt as “Wellness Plus Coupons.” I’m not sure what’s really behind the decision to handle it this way, but I certainly don’t like how they made wording of the rebate so vulnerable to misinterpretation. I’m definitely sitting this one out!

charolyn January 8, 2012 at 6:52 pm

FYI on the J&J items in the center of the ad-the BOG50% off items-aveeno, clean& clear & Neutrogena-you can mix types and still get the 50% off the second one. I got the Neutrogena face cream & a Clean & clear cleanser & got 50% off the cleanser. These items weren’t terribly close in price (OOP would be better if they were), but they were items I needed & still is going to work out for a great deal!
I am getting bengay, 2 visine, 2 reach floss, neutrogena face cream & clean & clear cleanser-cost of $32.24 (I have the 20% off-& my store does run about .30 more expensive on some of these items)-after $10+up and coupons will cost $2.24 for 7 items!!
The visine and bengay really help to lower the total price.

Reply

charolyn January 8, 2012 at 6:55 pm

Also the clean & clear-as all three of these items also have coupon in the ad.

Reply

charolyn January 8, 2012 at 7:22 pm

Just realized the VV was for Reach toothbrush-not floss, so will cost $3.24-still I am not complaining at all!!

Reply

stephanie January 9, 2012 at 10:28 am

Oh shoot- I used on the floss! How did I miss that! I guess we all mess up sometimes, and the register never beeped to let me know. I thought it was for a reach product:(

Reply

charolyn January 9, 2012 at 2:18 pm

Yes it does happen to us all. Not too long ago there was an in ad coupon that really was a manu coupon (which never happens) & I missed it & used it with another manu coupon, before I figured it out-think a helpful reader clued me in.

Lorena January 8, 2012 at 5:48 pm

The riteaid I went to said you had to buy the items pictured in the ad to get the $3 up reward on the pens…..as I did the sharpee deal and nothing happened. So I bought 2 bags of big pens and still nothing, so they gave me a gift card with $6 on it since the ad is not clear at all.

Reply

deanna January 8, 2012 at 5:34 pm

I had my Manager at rite aid give me store credit on the bic deal, there was nothing in the add that said. “must buy 10$” so they honored the up rewards.

did anyone else have trouble with smart source internet coupons? my cashier couldn’t get the visine or the desitin one to work. she even tried punching in the numbers.

Reply

Melody January 8, 2012 at 5:19 pm

I totally did! Those bar codes are crazy. Thank goodness my store was just willing to enter them in as a generic manufacturer coupon. Would they take them at all? If not and you bought the items anyway, you could print the ones from Coupons.com and have them do a post-coupon.

Reply

Julie K January 8, 2012 at 6:39 pm

I had trouble too. She even wasn’t able to scan the visine one and a couple others from the newspaper! Apparently barcodes are changing to make them more accurate, but Rite Aid scanners don’t work with the new barcodes, oops!

In response to doing a post-coupon… I used to do this quite a bit and about a month ago went to my normal RA which I’ve been shopping almost weekly at for 2 years and was told that an e-mail was sent out that they aren’t allowed to do post-coupon’s anymore. Use caution on doing post-couponing. My store is VERY coupon friendly to me but it was a corporate e-mail.

What is a “post-coupon”?

Reply

Melody January 9, 2012 at 5:58 pm

There have been a few times where I have forgotten a couple coupons or found additional ones that I could have used when I got home. I have taken them back in and they basically credit me the amount of the coupon. You could also just return and rebuy with the coupon, same idea.

charolyn January 9, 2012 at 9:44 pm

Thanks-there is always more to learn in couponing! :-)

So… I apparently bought the wrong Nature Made Fish Oil. The shelf price said 8.49 but when I looked at my receipt, each one rang up 13.99! It was a hectic trip and I didn’t catch the mistake until I got home. Unfortunately I like like 30mins from the closest Rite Aid. What should I do? Can I return them?

Reply

Melody January 8, 2012 at 5:06 pm

You can definitely return them, just do it on your next trip. Rite Aid is pretty good about returns.

There is a post on hip2save that the Citracel deal is an ad misprint and has been pulled.

I didn’t either in the Oregonian-I always like to hear others didn’t either & it just isn’t me missing it! There was a $1/1.

We had it in the Everett Herald

Hey, I am not sure where to post this, but I went to rite aid today in Albany. They have some physicians formula make up 75% off. The 5 up reward is printing for these!

Reply

charolyn January 8, 2012 at 6:07 pm

I wonder if that was a +up from last week-I saw some today for 75% off also? Didn’t try, as I was going to check for coupons first.

Reply

charolyn January 7, 2012 at 1:53 pm

I also had a $1/2 arm & hammer coupon-looks like it came from the parade -don’t know when.

Can you use 1 in ad coupon for both stay free and ob? Or do I need to use 2 coupons. It says one per person.

Reply

Melody January 7, 2012 at 12:44 pm

Back in the day, my store used to allow multiple coupons in one transaction. However, since the coupon does say “1 per person” you probably will be only allowed to use 1. Your store may let you do 2 transactions and use 2 coupons, you’d just have to ask what their specific policy is.

Reply

Julie K January 8, 2012 at 6:40 pm

I was able to use both in the same transaction, :) !

I can’t find the o.b. 2/1 coupon or the stayfree coupon. Does someone know where I could find them? Thank you!

Reply

Melody January 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

Looks like the STayfree coupon is gone, I’ve updated the post. I’m not sure about the o.b. coupon, I”ll have to check later when I get a chance. Anyone else? This is apparently a good week, everyone is printing the coupons like crazy and they are hitting their print limits!

Reply

Melody January 7, 2012 at 12:43 pm

Alright, just printed 2 o.b. coupons. You have to enter in your name and watch the ENTIRE video. Then your coupons will pop up, just hit the back button to print 2.

Reply

Brenelly January 8, 2012 at 2:56 pm

Melody, thank you. I was looking for the O. B. coupon on coupons.com. I watched the video, it was pretty awesome… hehe! Got my coupons.

I can’t get the Neutrogena or Stayfree coupons to show up. Anyone?

Reply

Melody January 7, 2012 at 9:23 am

It looks like the Neutrogena coupon has hit its print limit, bummer! Just checked on the Stayfree coupon and it’s gone as well. Those went fast!

Reply

Edie January 7, 2012 at 3:58 am

“Purchase requirement calculated before taxes and after other discounts have been applied.”

From the Neutrogena rebate form. So you have to spend $30 after coupons, I believe?

Reply

Melody January 7, 2012 at 6:07 am

In my totally honest opinion, I doubt it. I have never had a rebate not filled because of using coupons and the majority of them have some kind of verbage like this. I think what it means is after any discount by the store (ie % off or sale price).

If you’re not comfortable with it, definitely add a few more items to your purchase. It’s still a great deal, especially if you are a Neutrogena user!

Edie January 7, 2012 at 12:23 pm

All right, thanks for replying. :)

Steph January 8, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Hi…I called Neutrogena on Friday because I felt a little wary, too, about the rebate given its wording. I was told by the woman that you have to spend $30 out of pocket in order to get the $10 rebate. She said that neither manufacturer coupons (i.e., their coupons) nor any type of store “coupons,” such as UP Rewards or RRs, could be used to lower the the $30 threshold. This woman sounded very savvy about couponing, so I trust what she was saying. She even admitted that the UP Rewards/RRs aren’t really coupons and are more like cash to use in the stores, but that Neutrogena had taken the position to not reimburse for them, either. Boo! This is the second time in the past two months that I’ve encountered this. (The other is with the September 2011 Prevacid rebate). By the way, has anyone received their Prvacid rebate yet and were there any problems with it?

Reply

Melody January 8, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Thanks for the update Steph. If they had all of that “officially” figured out, I wish they would have put it in the fine print. For example, “Must hit $30 after all discounts, store coupons or manufacturer coupons”. Just make it super clear.

Either way, you could potentially do the scenario above without any coupons and it would still be a great deal on Neutrogena products. Or you could add in a few more products to make up for the coupons being deducted. I still think it’s a great price!

Thanks again for letting us know what you found out.

They have always printed in the past on BOGO scenarios like this one!

Tracy January 6, 2012 at 6:21 pm

So, did rite aid change their coupon policy again? I thought the big uproar from last year was that you couldn’t use a coupon on a free item anymore? These scenarios list coupons for the free items. I’m confused.

Reply

Melody January 6, 2012 at 6:52 pm

Which scenario are you talking about?

If you are buying 2 items on a BOGO sale, you can use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon (so 2 coupons total) for the two items.

Or you can use a manufacturer coupon that is x dollar amount off 2 (for example, $1/2). The policy states that you can use one “cents off” coupon per BOGO sale, so even though the coupon is off 2 products, it is still technically only 1 “cents off” coupon. Does that make sense?

Amber Jackson January 6, 2012 at 3:01 pm

Ya, I tried the Sharpies but it turned up as $3 +UP on $10 on my receipt. They should have written it as such in the ad. I looked all over to find somewhere that it stated you have to buy $10 for the UP, but it doesn’t! :( I just returned the Sharpies.

Reply

Charlotte January 6, 2012 at 2:57 pm

I read the discussion on slickdeals about the bic scenario. Looks like people have to buy $10 worth to get $3 UP so they aren’t getting any UPs for buying just two. Maybe Rite Aid will fix its system over the weekend.

I love the ‘deal scenarios’… It helps me know EXACTLY what to print and take with me. Thanks for helping me be prepared! :)

Reply

Melody January 6, 2012 at 8:20 pm

You’re welcome Jessica! It can be a crazy amount of information to sort through. I figure since I’ve been staring at it for so long, I could probably whip up a scenario quicker than someone who is looking at it for the first time. :) Plus, that makes it easier to swap in an item or two if there is something you don’t need, instead of creating a scenario from scratch.
