As most of you know, Rite Aid is running their amazing “Winter Rewards” program again this month: Spend $100 on participating products through March 3rd, get a $20 +UP Reward. I thought I would take you along on my journey to reach $100, to see how little out of pocket I can spend and still reach the $100.
Out of pocket spent: Profit of $1.10
Received: $6 in +UP Rewards
Total spent towards “Resolution Rewards”: $12
Out of pocket spent: $.88
Still have: $6 in +UPs
Total spent towards “Resolution Rewards”: $20
Out of pocket spent: $3.41
Received: $10 +UP + still have $7.50 in +UPs from previous week
Total spent towards “Resolution Rewards”: $55
Week 4:
Purchased:

Blink Gel Tears $7.99
Cars 2 Valentine’s Cards/Pencils on clearance $1
Physician’s Formula Youthful Wear Youth-Boosting Foundation $14.95

Used $17.50 in +UPs from previous week
Out of pocket spent: $8.44
Received: $5 +UP for Physician’s Formula
Will submit for: $7.99 Blink Tears SCR and $14.95 Physician’s Formula mail-in rebate
Total spent towards “Resolution Rewards”: $67
After both rebates from this past week, I will have made a PROFIT of $11.31 while showing a total of $67 towards my “Winter Rewards”. Plus, I still have a $5 +UP Reward to use for my next transaction. I honestly wasn’t even going to try for it this week, as there just wasn’t enough stuff that qualified that we actually needed. I didn’t want to spend money we wouldn’t normally have spent just to get the reward. However, once I realized the Blink Tears were included, I knew I’d be going for it.
A few things to note. In order to submit for the Physician’s Formula rebate, you MUST find a product with the Try Me Free peelie on it. My store had several. Even though the Blink Tears weren’t listed as participating in the “Winter Rewards” promo, they were tagged in the store and counted on my receipt!
Here’s what I plan on doing:
Purchase:
(4) Tugaboos Jumbo Pack Diapers $8.99/$4.49
Tugaboos Jumbo Pack Diapers $7.19 after Wellness+ discount
Use $5 +UP from previous transaction
Out of pocket spent: $29.16
Will receive: $20 “Winter Rewards” +UP
Including all my previous transactions, this will put me at a total out of pocket cost of $17.85. When you factor in the $20 +UP Reward I will receive, I will have made a profit of $2.15. Please wrap your mind around the fact that this includes 5 packs of diapers, not to mention all the other goodies.
I’d love to hear about your shopping trips this week!
Be sure to check out the rest of this week’s Rite Aid deals here.

Nice job! Very inspiring. I don’t see the same kind of ‘reward’ coming up for March at RA, which is too bad. It’s a challenge to see what we can do!
I ended up get my 20 Up Reward when I redeemed 2 coupons for free Prevaid. I ened up purchasing another to get the $10 up reward for that too. It ended up being pretty easy getting to that $100 mark and I spent about $15 all together. I was pretty happy with my purchases
Did Rite Aid change the way they track Wellness Points? Last year they tracked total before coupon, but this year it’s after coupon. I’ve noticed my Wellness Points remaining the same trip after trip when I spent under $1.00 oop. It that happening to everyone or there’s a glitch on my card?
I thought I noticed that too, early this year, although then felt like the points started adding faster after awhile, so am not totally sure.
Today I did 3 transactions & did pay some each time-especially the first two, and my points only increased the first time-so wonder if sometimes it doesn’t show up right away, like when you do back to back transactions?
I never do back to back transactions. I usually just do one a week and if the deals are great like last week I go on Sunday and back on Thursday. Any thoughts?
I looked at my receipts better last night & I do think that it doesn’t always credit right away-so may catch up later. Also something besides OOP must be crediting, because I am sure I haven’t spent that much OOP this year. It is confusing however.
I pay almost no attention to the Wellness points, but I have noticed on the receipt that it gives you your point total as of the day BEFORE.
The Aveeno deal (thanks to a reader-pointing out the double +ups) really made the $100 for me today (although I was quite close already-did the colgate/cold meds deal twice last week).
But I do need to report that while both the face cream & hand cream added to the weekly-buy $15-get $5 +up -only the face cream added to the monthly spend $25 get $10 +up=despite what the store tag said & the other reader reported, so I am going to call Rite Aid. Even if I don’t get it, with the $20 + up I got & +ups I used-the prices were very nice-only paid $6.77 OOP! (especially for the expensive creams!) AND ended up with $10 more in +UPs!
This is what I bought to get very close to $30:
1 face lotion-bought first so I got my 20% off=14.39 (was 17.99)
-$2 coupon
2 hand lotions (one 9.49-oil type, and one 7.49 @ 50% off=3.74)
-2 $1 coupons
small hand lotion-3rd purchase for 20% off = $3.03
too small for the coupon
=30.65 (this store does run a little higher-so double check your prices)
I got the $10 ‘advil’. I bought 4 colgate last week for a profit of of $1.25 each. Then this week I bought 3 robitussim for $1.19 each. Total profit $11.50
We had a lot of out of the ordinary drug store type needs this past month. My net cost for the month is around $6 for things that I would have spend around $175 on precouponing. Even with all the changes we’ve weathered, I still LOVE shopping at Rite Aid!!
I’m so glad to hear that the Blink is on the Winter rewards list as there really wasn’t anything else on the matchups that I was interested in getting to finish out my $20 reward. I only need $7 more dollars to hit $100 so this is perfect! After getting my UPR (and various rebates), I will have MADE $28.13 on the Winter Reward!
Now, what to spend that $20 UP on?!
No doubt in the next couple of weeks there will be more great deals to keep your +ups rolling-for more savings.
A thought-if you aren’t personally interested in anything-but can get items for free, nearly free, or even better money makers-get them anyway & give them away!!
Just bought 2 Hershey Kisses, Cadbury Mini Eggs, 2 Robitussin, 2 jumbo packs of Tugaboos diapers and 2 packages of Peeps as fillers and received my $20 +UP Reward. Overall, I think I spent about $3 out of pocket and received a $20 +UP!
We “splurged” a little bit with this rewards… the first week I only did a little and it cost me nothing oop ( suave deodorants, aveeno hair stuff)… I was using up Up rewards…and then I took a couple weeks off from couponing… In the end our oop was 80.00…I still have 68.00 UPs to use by march 17… Which means i actually paid 12.00 for everything… We did it on purpose. We are avid gardeners and when I cant find anything household/grocery to buy we buy/stockpile gardening stuff/seeds. Just in time for spring…
We did the Colgate deal (four toothpastes, five toothbrushes, aveeno hair care, four razors (the new Schick one for men, two silks and one refill), four Schick shaving creams, right guard deodorants, four dove hair care, one viactiv, etc. Its really not hard for us as we are a huge family of 10… 5 being teenagers, two in diapers, and us parents! lol I truly think RA is my most favorite store…
I had to call RA today for them to send the winter reward and some Colgate ones… she admitted there is a glitch in the system. Beings I only shop once a week and do larger than the average bear transactions… all of which have ups coming back… its too much for the register, I get shorted about every other transaction but they always make it right… We went over my receipt and calculated 138.00 in product BEFORE coupons… and she sent out 34.00 in UP rewards to add to the other 34.00 in my wallet.
