You can double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons per transaction, up to $.50 each. You may not double a coupon marked with “Do Not Double” or an internet printable coupon. The double coupon is found in the weekly ad at the bottom of the middle page and look’s like this:

Some stores don’t let you use manufactures and just 4u. :-(

Erin February 5, 2013 at 3:04 pm

Agreed. Unless the J4U coupon is a store coupon the register beeps otherwise, so has been my experience.

Brenda February 5, 2013 at 11:32 pm

JFU has both store and manufacturer coupons available, that’s why Brittany added the disclaimer in her match-ups that you will have to double check once the new coupons are available online to load to your card.

Sadly, I have experienced where the people checking me out will not even try my coupons if they noticed a J4U price, even if it’s not a manufacture coupon. I explained to them that it will beep if it is indeed a manufacture coupon on my account, which I know the difference very well now, but one checker refused. She called her manager over and he explained to me, what I explained to her, haha, and she finally attempted them… It was very frustrating, I’m a huge rule follower and to feel like I was doing something wrong… well, I’m a sensitive rule follower and I about cried ;) Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t know what to do, I now refuse to go if she’s there, sometimes I loathe that I love couponing because of how the checkers treat me differently since I’ve picked up the wonderful mind to coupon.

Oh Renee, I’m sorry you’ve had such a hard time at Safeway. It can get frustrating and embarrassing…I’ve felt that way too. Every couponer has to figure out what works best for them because it’s a different experience for everyone.
Now that I have couponed heavily for a few years I’ve learned what works for me and how I can be successful at it. It is important to me to follow proper policies and rules (like you) wherever I’m shopping at so when I have issues with a cashier it’s easy to get upset and hurt. You will gain confidence in yourself the more you do it and that will help when you find yourself in a troublesome spot.
Some people will say to stand your ground, call corporate and do whatever it takes until the store backs down…but that is not something I’m willing (or able) to do. Instead, I make sure I know the store’s policy and plan for the worst case scenario, which means I briefly stop before I get to the register with my coupons in hand and decide what my plan of action will be if they choose not to honor my coupons. Sometimes I want the product whether they will honor the coupon or not, other times I plan to politely ask them to just keep the product if I can’t use a coupon on it. I find myself more relaxed when I plan for possible issues at the register…no surprises!
Remember, most cashiers’ just want to do their job and earn their pay without getting in trouble. I worked several years in retail and know that even the best businesses do not train their employees enough, and often when we find a cashier that is resistant it’s just because they are not sure of the policy and don’t want to get in trouble. We shoppers just need to learn not to take it too personally.
The other thing is I’ve learned which stores are coupon friendly and which ones are just meanies! Most weeks I drive by 2 Safeway’s to shop at my preferred one because they are the friendliest and have the best stock. Not everyone has the luxury of multiple stores in their area, but it’s what works best for me.
I know it’s really hard at the beginning, trust me I swore I would never coupon again many times that first year, but when you remind yourself that you are not doing anything wrong, that you are learning to use your resources wisely for the benefit of your family, it’s worth it.

Brenda, thank you!! Your words mean so much, I am SO thankful for this site and everyone on here! When I am out couponing and a mistake happens or my coupons are questioned I always keep in mind that the cashiers are human, just as I am, so no matter what I am respectful… I suppose that’s why it was so hard when the cashier did not extend the same respect. I can’t even share how much of a relief couponing has been for my family, it has helped to create a more joyful, carefree sense in my home knowing that we are stocked, can have company over whenever without worry, it’s just been wonderful. So, I will carry on knowing it benefits my family!! Thank you so much for your response Brenda, I really can’t thank you enough for saying that you can relate and I am not alone!! Take care!!

Great reply, Brenda. I’m nominating you for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Can anyone get the Hallmark link to work? It is not doing a thing on my computer! If so, could you tell me the web address?
Thanks!

Hmmm…I just printed it. Did you sign into Facebook before you tried printing it? You might have to like the page as well (I’d had previously liked it so I can’t tell if that would make a difference).
I just used Brittany’s link above to find it, but you can also locate it by searching on Facebook for “Tell Them”.

This worked for me today. I was signed in and it let me print the coupon twice.

I get a message that the Hallmark coupon has exceeded the maximum prints. Since I haven’t printed it before, it could be that they ran out of coupons.

There is a “$3.00 off two Starbucks coffee’s” that you can load to your card thru the Safeway coupon center. I also have (2) $1.00 off one bag of Starbucks coffee loaded to my card thru the coupon center. Can I use the $3.00 off 2 Starbucks mq coupon? Will all these coupons come off if I buy 2 bags? When I checked my savings list, one of the Starbucks coupon was in the coffee section and one listed in the Deli section which I thought was rather odd.

I think “$x OFF” is a store coupon and “Save $xx” is a manufacturer coupon. So it depends on which kind you loaded to your card. You can stack the store coupon and the MC, but not two MCs.

I found a $1 off Halmark Card coupon in my j4u account, makes ‘em free if you missed out on the $2/3 coupon :) And I scored a bag of free salad in my personalized deals so check yours out!

Susan February 6, 2013 at 9:22 am

I have those 2 offers, too. I LOVE all the little FREE-bies they give us!

Reply

Nicole B February 6, 2013 at 12:09 pm

Nicole do you know if the $1 will come off each card or just once?

Reply

Howard February 6, 2013 at 3:07 pm

With very few exceptions, a one-time use coupon can be used in the same transaction on multiple items. I’ve never had a problem with this, or maybe once tops. I had the $1 Hallmark cpn last week and it took $1 off all 3 cards. This week, however, I have a $1/1 Hallmark Valentine’s card on J4U, limit one, so it’s different.

Reply

Howard February 6, 2013 at 3:09 pm

BTW I also had the $2/3 card FB cpn last week that I used successfully with the J4U $1/1 deal. Turned into a $2.64 moneymaker for me.

Brenda February 7, 2013 at 1:56 am

Darn, I decided I wanted to use the paper coupon so I didn’t bother to load the e coupon. Oh well, still got nearly $10 worth of cards for $3!
Heads up Howard! Looks like the Campbell’s soup rewards (we discussed previously…last week?) just got easier. I got a reminder catalina yesterday that included a website and pin number to track your progress. Make sure to keep an eye out for it, funny that I got the catalina now since I didn’t buy any Campbell’s this week.

I went to Jantzen Bch store today and asked for a list of the “over 300 participating items” for the Buy 6 save 50 cents on each promotion. Unfortunately, they said there was no list available. So I passed on it for now–didn’t feel like buying 4 cake/brownie mixes just so I could get two Barillas pasta meals for free. I’m hoping other readers will post some of these products the next couple days (other than the ones listed in the weekly ad, of course).

Brenda February 7, 2013 at 7:33 pm

I bought 4 Knorr’s Pasta and 2 Barilla Meals. After coupons and doubl’r they were only .19 each!
I kind of lost interest when I noticed that the end dates on the shelf tags for that deal was only 1 week, not enough time to cook up some really good deals…or maybe I’m being too lazy!

Reply

Howard February 10, 2013 at 4:53 pm

I ended up doing what you did. 4 Knorrs, 2 Barilla dinners, a bakery sourdough bread, 2 Alexia fries, 2.25 lbs bananas. Total was only $2.99 and cashier took my $3 OYNO cat from last week.

Reply

Susan February 8, 2013 at 8:42 am

I asked at my store, too. They looked at me like I was some kind of alien from outer space!!
I went up and down every aisle and didn’t find anything worth while. I put my 2 Barilla meals back on the shelf.
I thought maybe they would have a list, since QFC seems to whenever they do these sales.
Like you, I’m hoping others will find things maybe I just didn’t notice.

m February 7, 2013 at 3:56 pm

I bought 2 alexia sweet potatoes and got back a $1 catalina.

Don’t waste your Planters peanuts coupon. I tried to use it with the J4U deal and it scannned fine, but after I left the store I realized that it hadn’t taken it, so I lost my coupon. Shucks!

Reply

Brenda February 7, 2013 at 7:35 pm

That’s weird, I used 2 on Wednesday and it worked perfectly…no beeps or anything. I got both for .99 each.

Reply

Sara February 8, 2013 at 9:45 am

The Planter’s deal is better than what’s listed. There’s a $1/1 in the 1/27 SS insert. That makes the nuts $.49 after J4U coupon and double.

Howard February 11, 2013 at 5:12 pm

Didn’t see this in the newspaper ad, but they are selling the frozen Gorton’s fish fillets (they’re often in a case near the meat dept, not usually with the fish sticks or cheaper fillets) BOGO. They come in several flavors, including salmon, tilapia, lemon pepper, etc and cost around $5 or so. I have $1/2 cpns from prior purchases, so only $3.50/2 with doubler. Don’t know how long this deal will last–maybe only till Tuesday? My wife, who actually eats veggies and other creepy things, likes these fish fillets a lot.

Reply

charolyn February 11, 2013 at 9:18 pm

I especially like the salmon & works great for me & my son -2 fillets!

Reply

Howard February 12, 2013 at 8:27 pm

The new ad starting Weds has pretty much all the Gorton’s stuff on BOGO.
