Has anyone used the Frozen Foods on fish products? LIke the Fisher Boy that is one sale for 2.99 this week with a $1 blinkie. The coupon shows chicken wings as counting, what about frozen fish??

I get the meat and seafood thing but then why show chicken wings, aren’t they meat? Thanks

I got stuck with a stickler of a cashier at self-checkout two days ago. I bought 8 boxes of fruit snacks and didn’t get any Catalinas. I’m bummed. Who do I call?

kate March 6, 2011 at 8:38 am

Try this (877) 210-1917. I think that’s it but I’ll keep looking

I did 2 doubler transactions yesterday morning and then 2 more last night. I went to do my final 2 this morning and was told by the cashier that the rule is only 1 doubler transaction per day, and that they do not double ANY IP coupons. Ever. Anyone had that come up? I told him that I’d done 4 transactions already (all with ips) and the other cashiers never said anything, so he let me go ahead as a courtesy. I hardly ever shop Safeway, so maybe I really am out of the loop….

Hi, when you say Use $5/$15 frozen foods coupon (in-ad), does that mean the ad that you can pick up in the store?

Reply

Jerseygirl'smama March 6, 2011 at 8:27 am

Your store might have them left, but I’ve gotten mine in the mid-week Columbian in my mailbox as well as in the Reflector which gets delivered to my house weekly at no charge.

Their Vitamin Water are also on sale 4 for $5 (the big 32 oz ones). Used (4) $.50 manuf. coupons from Diet Coke booklet, (2) $1.00 off 2 Safeway coupons from the Live Wholeheartedly booklet, and used (4) Safeway doublers = FREE VitaminWater (the big ones!) :)

oy, goofed up on this one! cannot use the Safeway doublers on the VitaminWater manuf coupons from Diet Coke book (they’re DND coupons).

I just went and got 9 Green giant veggies for $15.01 used a $5/15 coupon and 9 $.50/1 coupons and a double coupon for $2 more off. My total came to $3.51 for 9 boxes of veggies or ~$.39/each.

Reply

Kelly March 4, 2011 at 10:48 pm

Got 4 boxes of cereal, 12 bags of Birds eye veggies and 4 boxes of fruit snacks earlier and ended up paying less than $4 out of pocket.

Went to Safeway yesterday to use my $5 off $15 and I was told that Safeway has a new coupon policy. Has anyone else been told you can only use 2 of the same coupons per transaction? I had three of the Sweet Potatoes and 6 veggie coupons and she said I could only use two towards each item.

Is it possible to use the $5/15 frozen food coupon in the same transaction as the $10/50 coupon?

The Cheerios on sale include the Cinnamon Burst Cheerios for 1.49 wyb4. If you use the .75/1 from GM 2/13 and double it works out to .24 a box!

I did the $5/$15 frozen foods 4 times today, and didn’t have any trouble at all. AND, I got a cat for the large CA Pizza Kitchen pizza and the small!! So it looks like it doesn’t matter what size pizza you get, you still get the $1.25 cat! Sweet!!!

charolyn March 3, 2011 at 5:13 pm

Thanks for the report-I wondered if it worked on the little ones-it has in the past.

Reply

Jeanette C. March 4, 2011 at 6:45 am

Rachel: When you go with four transactions, do you leave the store and come back in or do you put the items on the checkout and separate them all but do four transactions-just wondering as it is hard to go in and out of the store multiple times and to different cashiers.

Reply

Rachel March 6, 2011 at 1:39 pm

Jeanette- I did leave the store to take the stuff out to my car since I had my baby in the cart basket and was running out of room. But I did go to the same cashier twice, and she let me use the doubles twice. They didn’t seem to be picky there at all and were very coupon friendly. I went to the Boones Ferry Store.

Leanna March 3, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I FINALLY got to do the $5/15 deal today. It was my 3rd time back at my Safeway, hoping that Totino’s pizza’s would be in the freezer.

Great deal!

paintmom March 2, 2011 at 9:21 pm

Make sure your frozen purchases are $15 AFTER coupons. I just bought 9 boxes of the Green Giant Frozen Vegetables (3/$5), and then used 3 $1/3 GG coupons. The cashier told me I couldn’t use the $5 off $15 because I only had a $12 purchase. I tried to point out that no where on the coupon that it stated it had to be after coupons, but he told me it had to be a $15 purchase. I called the corporate Safeway number when I got home, and they confirmed it too.

Reply

charolyn March 2, 2011 at 10:35 pm

I have been able to do it as long as I have other items, so the total after all the coupons are taken off (and before the $5/$15 frozen one) is more than $15 (however I didn’t spend $15 on the frozen foods after my coupons). I agree with you that it isn’t stated after coupons on the frozen food coupon & the cash register system wouldn’t allow it, if that was required. I do notice the clerks check my total before they use that one, and ring it up last. I have done it twice so far, at two different stores.

Reply

Jenea March 2, 2011 at 10:39 pm

I’ve used the $5/15 coupon three times, and didn’t have a problem once. I just gave them that coupon first, before I gave them my other coupons and doubler. In fact, I probably got lucky, but in my sinus infection haze today, the $5/$15 worked even though it turned out to be $14.95 before other coupons, didn’t even realize it until I got home (I did the frozen veggie deal where they were $2.49, darn pennies).

Reply

sarah March 3, 2011 at 12:04 pm

I have been able to do this when my total was 15 before coupons/doubles but whould be 11.50 after coupons and doubles. what i do is hand the cashier my safeway card and 5 off 15 coupon first then after he scans it i hand him my other coupons and doubles…

Here is what their coupon policy says:
12. Purchase reward thresholds (if any) will be calculated based upon customer’s final price (after deducting Club Card savings and all other discounts and savings) before deductions for any manufacturer coupons. As an example (and not as an offer), if a $10 minimum purchase is required for a customer reward, a customer’s order at full retail would be $12, a Club Card discount of $1.75 applies, and a manufacturer’s coupon of $1 applies, the customer would be given credit for a $10.25 purchase, and would be eligible for the reward (assuming compliance with all other requirements) even though the customer’s cash payment would be only $9.25. The manufacturer’s coupon would not be deducted from the total for purposes of determining reward eligibility.

This is just saying that minimum purchase requirements are to be calculated AFTER club card savings but BEFORE manufacturer coupons. This is a good thing!

Jenea: Do you bring all of these items up at one time and do three different transactions or do you do one, bring it to your car, go in again, etc etc….??

Reply

Jenea March 4, 2011 at 10:51 am

I did the california pizza kitchen transaction earlier in the week, and I got the three $1.25 off purchse catalinas from that transaction. Then on Wednesday I brought the two transactions listed above to the cashier at the same time. I’ve had a lot of luck at our Safeway being able to use doublers in two separate transactions without having to go out them go back in. I just try to not do it at a busy time, and I don’t try to do more than two transactions in a row. From what I hear it depends on the store and cashier whether they let you do two transactions with doublers back to back. Hope that helps!

with the frozen food deals I think its time to adjust the freezer. nice and packed with 3 turkeys and 800 ounces of breast milk. can’t wait to see what we can get.

Reply

Carla March 3, 2011 at 12:23 am

800 ounces of breastmilk? How did you stock up that much? I’m currently trying to increase my milk supply and we’re supplementing with one 4 oz. bottle per day (my milk seems to dwindle in the evenings!?). My baby is 5 mos. old. Do you have any advice for me or were you just blessed with a lot of milk?

Reply

mara March 3, 2011 at 7:32 am

Pumping a lot is the answer. My daughter only takes the breast at night. So I pump 5 times during the day and get up once during the night. I generally try to go no more than 3 hours between pumping and pump for 15 minutes. Its a pain but my daughter is not a fan of food yet. Also in the nutrition section of Fred Meyers they have a tea called Mothers Milk. If my production goes down I drink at least one cup of this tea. It always seems to help. My little one is 6 months so I keep worrying about lack of milk.

Reply

Katie March 5, 2011 at 6:35 am

Mothers Milk tea worked really well for me, too — they recommend something like 4-5 cups/day, but I started out with one cup/day to see what happened, and that was PLENTY to get me going.

spent $20 at Safeway today (3 different trans) I ended with a $3 cat and will submit for a $10 cash card (boxtops~got it in a email..I(heart)myschool) So 17 boxes of cereal, 4 boxes of oatmeal and 15 boxes of fruitsnacks for 7 bucks! Thanks!! Would have been better but I accidentally bought the wrong size box of cereal (ouch) in one of the transactions. FYI you can buy 5 or 6 or 7 boxes of cereal and still get them for $1.49. Same with the fruit snacks 5 will get you a $3 cat instead of a $2 and they’re all still .99! So you don’t have to buy in increments of 4 :)

My in-ad coupon for the Quaker oatmeal says the 1.77 price is good with a minimum purchase of $10. So if I buy 4, will they come up at the regular price of 2.50 each (and a $10 total)? Trying to see if I can just buy 4 of the oatmeals in 1 transaction or if I need other items to get to the $10 minimum. Does that make sense?

Reply

Leanna March 2, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Your question makes sense, but I’m not sure of the answer. When I did a peanut butter deal last month, I had to purchase an extra item because, for some reason the peanut butter was ringing up less than the regular sale price.

Maybe someone else will post who’s tried it.

Otherwise, you could have some type of other item handy as a backup.

In Safeway’s official Coupon Policy, #12 states the following:

FYI-there were quite a few other cereals included-not listed in their ad. A different Quaker cereal (not the oat squares) was .99 on the sale (but I don’t see any coupons for it-so the oat squares are the best buy).
Also FYI-the honey bunches of oats does NOT include the raisin variety-even though the oz listed was the same -did include most of the other types (disappointed as I had a great coupon I got from a catalina for it & also see there were insert coupons for it).

Reply

Reply

My husband works at Safeway. He reports that they just posted a coupon usage policy for the employees to look at next to the time clock. He says it doesn’t look very friendly, especially regarding internet coupons. He said this is the first time he has seen a policy posted like that. I’m hoping he brings me a copy of it today so I can see if it has changed or not.

Reply

Natalie March 2, 2011 at 7:30 am

You actually get a better deal on the fruit snacks if you buy 5 because you get an extra $1 back.

Reply

Carrie March 3, 2011 at 9:28 pm

Actually if you buy six it’s better. Since you can use another .50/2 coupon and get the extra dollar by spending .99

Reply

Stefanie March 2, 2011 at 7:03 am

Thanks for posting these deals – esp. the frozen ones. We are big frozen veggie users and will seriously stock up with this sale!

I bought 5 or 6 Sunday newspapers this past Sunday and none of them had a Safeway double manufactuers coupon in them. But yesterday I got the coupons that come in the mail and it had a Safeway ad in it that did have that coupon where you could double any manufactors coupon up to 50 cents. Is anyone else have this problem? Please message me back with suggestions on how to get those Double coupons.

Reply

andrea March 2, 2011 at 5:56 am

Safeway sends out doubles in the Tues/Wed paper, but not in Sunday’s. They ALWAYS have copies of the weekly add in store though. Just grab a few on your way in for your shopping trip.

Reply

Angela March 2, 2011 at 6:53 am

Thank you for that information. I will check into that and see if the ads have the double coupons in them. Is there a limit to how many you can have?

Reply

Stefanie March 2, 2011 at 7:02 am

A Safeway doubler allows 4 doubles per transaction.

Reply

charolyn March 2, 2011 at 2:32 pm

You can use one (which as Stefanie said will double up to 4 coupons-up to .50 each) for each transaction. You can use as many as you want in a week-just have to keep having separate transactions with each one.

Kari March 2, 2011 at 8:41 pm

be sure to read the SMALL print on Safeway Doublers… I believe it says something like one set per family per week. So… loading up 2 or more transactions with doublers on the conveyor belt may not work with your cashier. I have had the same cashier on different days accept or NOT accept more that one set of doublers in 2 transactions.
kari

charolyn March 2, 2011 at 10:29 pm

I double checked because there is a lot of fine print & it tends to change:
says- 1 double coupon per manufacturer’s coupon-4 double coupons per family this shopping trip (which is what the double coupon is-up to 4 coupons with each one).
Not per week-so I have always heard that you can use one with each transaction.
At Safeway I don’t ever do two transactions in a row-don’t think they would go for that like Albertson’s or Rite Aid does.

Kari March 3, 2011 at 11:19 pm

You are right Charolyn. I started couponing last June and went to Safeway and they just have their doublers and papers out front of the store so I grabbed 4 papers and set out my “four” transactions with doublers etc… the gal did all four and gave me the doublers too. then a few days later (same gal) she told me about only one per trip… oops… my bad… I remembered reading that YEARS ago seriously years… and thinking “well that isn’t worth the trouble”
… still makes for a lot of mini trips which is hard to do with little guys… but i have recruited a friend and we split the kids up and shop away!
happy shopping

Lately I’ve been getting Smartsource in my mailbox on Tuesdays and I noticed that there was a coupon for 55cents off of any variety of Oroweat. So ladies check your mailbox and/or be on the lookout in Sundays paper for this one. With the doubler and the store coupon you can score great bread for only 74 cents!

Reply

Beth March 1, 2011 at 5:21 pm

If you are having problems using their coupons from their coupon booklet I would suggest using the self checkout lane. That is what I do so I don’t get yelled at for using coupons.

Reply

Stefanie March 2, 2011 at 7:01 am

Yes yes yes! If you have access to self-checkout, this makes using couples – esp. for b1g1 deals SO much easier! You scan the coupons yourself and the machine (at least in my experience) does not beep or anything for b1g1 deals when you use 2 coupons and then you put the coupon(s) in a slot yourself, so the cashier never actually sees them. Then – if you have a double coupon – when it comes time for that, I just give it to the cashier and say, yes, I had 3 (or however many manu coupons) and they might glance at your transaction to look at it and then double it and go on their way. I’ve found this helpful also for using the $10/$50 coupons too. Plus, things usually move much faster on the self checkouts than they do in the regular lanes.

Reply

yvonne March 2, 2011 at 8:47 am

I did that one time and the machine took of $.01 for coupons (like so many have reported.) The lady had the hardest time trying to fix that. I was late picking up my child from school and they had to send him to principal’s office.

Reply

charolyn March 2, 2011 at 2:30 pm

That would be great, but at my store, their is still a cashier that enters the coupons.

Reply

Jessica March 5, 2011 at 12:01 am

its against Safeway policy to use a coupon on free items, so your essentially using self-checkout so you don’t get caught…..unless I am interpreting the comment wrong, and then my apologies

With the Quaker oatmeal, is there a catalina if you just purchase 2 or 3?

The catalina states Buy 3, get $1, Buy 4, get $2, Buy 5 or more, get $3. Through 3/6/11. Hope that helps.

Thanks Jennifer! That’s exactly what I wanted to know.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post. I kept on checking back all day, hoping someone would reply!

The eggo coupon states 1 per transaction . My safeway is looking at everything and being extremely careful on following what the coupon states. They would not let me use double coupon twice (2 different transactions either said it was 1 per store visit). The checker said they had to be really careful because he didn’t want to be an example at their staff meeting.

Yup, I was told that about 2 months ago. It was the first time I ever tried to do it after a friend of mine said she did two trx back to back with no problem. Same Safeway as the one my friend shopped at. I thought the cashier just didn’t like me.

I am having a hard time getting the $1.25/1 cali pizza kitchen coupon. Do you know if they are all out?

Yes, I believe they reached their print limit the other day.
