Today bought 6 corn flakes ($1 each wyb 4+), 1 Scrubbing Bubble Extend-a-clean (on sale $6.99 each), 1 refill for the Extend-a-clean (on sale $3.50). I only had one $5/1 Extend-a-clean, but it was still a good deal at the end with this scenario because you get a $1 catalina for the refill:
Would have been $16.49, then used:
$5/1 extend-a-clean
Buy Extend-a-clean, get refill free coupon (- $3.50)
3 $1/2 Corn flakes = $3 off
4 safeway doublers = $2 off
= paid $2.99 out of pocket
got:
$4 kelloggs catalina
$3 scrubbing bubbles cat
$1 scrubbing bubbles cat
= $5.01 moneymaker!
(would have been even more awesome with two $5 extend-a-clean coupons so I could get two and “make” even more, but I’m very satisfied with the deal I got!) P.S. Sunnyside Safeway was VERY well stocked on the sale cereals!

Did you use 4 double coupons in the same transaction??
The cashiers at Gresham don’t allow that.

Amy May 12, 2010 at 9:15 am

Nevermind…I was thinking you used 4 coupons but I see that you used just 1. Thanks!

Amy, what is the catalina for the refill? Do you get a $1 cat for buying 1?

Reply

Jamie May 12, 2010 at 3:12 pm

oops, I mean Andrea! :)

Andrea May 13, 2010 at 9:13 am

Yes, that’s correct – I bought only one Extend-A-Clean refill, and got the $1 catalina! So, got $3 for the Extend-a-Clean trigger, and $1 for the matching refill! cool!

Questions:
Is there a minimum purchase to use Safeway double coupons? Could I just go and purchase cereal using mfqs and double coupons?
Also, would the Kellog’s catalina roll? Could I buy Corn Flakes and then use the catalina to buy other Kellog’s cereal and still get another catalina?

I am new to couponing and to shopping at Safeway; thanks for the help!

Heidi, no minimum purchase to use the doublers. Just make sure that if you have overage that you put a filler item in there, because they won’t (shouldn’t) give you money back.

The Kellogg’s Catalina should roll!! I would DEFINITELY do the Corn Flakes first and roll the Cat to your next transactions. Brilliant!

Are all the Cherrios flavors part of the promo deal? And you have them listed at $3 each but I thought the cherrios were $2.50 before promo savings? Thanks for your help!

There is a good deal on the Kashi cereal too if you have (4) $1 coupons. You can find Kashi coupon booklets at Fred Meyers to get 4 boxes for $2 since the coupon will double.

I bought quite a few Post cereals and Life and thought I would be getting 4 different catalinas and got NONE! and I asked and got tough luck answer and no one knew anything about it, Help!

If you think you did the transaction right call the Catalina company. Have your receipt on hand and they will send you the catalinas. (sorry I don’t know the number)

I just bought 20 quaker cereal, they actually came out at $6.00 instead of the $8 listed above. I think they forgot about the doubles. So that was $.30 each!

Just wanted to give a heads up that Cherry Park Safeway in Gresham will not allow the doublers to be used as it makes some of the cereal free. That was the excuse of the cashier. Bought 4 cornflakes and used 2 $1/2 coupons. Paid $2. Turned around and did the same deal at the Highland Safeway and they allowed me to use the doublers with no issues. Paid $1. Received $3 catalina at both stores.

Are there catalinas printing on the quaker oats also?

Keizer safeway will only accept 1 internet printed coupon per item type. (can’t use 2 coupons of the same type, even though the coupons sites let us print out 2) Anyone else have this issue? I called corporate and they back them up, even though a” limit of 1″ is not stated in their IP coupon policy. Corporate says that a limit of one is their policy.

My Safeway will allow 2 internet coupons per type of item, but I’ve heard of some stores only allowing one. They also won’t double any internet coupons.

Just in case anyone’s contemplating it, the General Mills cereal Catalina (listed in the Catalina Deals section) isn’t valid at Safeway; according to Catalina Marketing, it’s a Kroger-only offer. I would have commented in the CD section, but no comments are allowed — so I’ll try to let y’all know here!

The cats are rolling…I did it today four times with the Corn Flake deal…made $8!! :)

Boy, I guess I am lucky…my Safeway has no restrictions on IPs…and will also double them. I live in Kelso, WA…we have three Safeways and they all allow it.

I went tonight and got 2 cornflakes and 2 rice krispies. The checker said I did a great job when it came to $5. I said “but wait!” and handed over $2 in coupons and a $3 cat coupon from last week, and told her it would print me out another $3 cat. Her jaw just dropped when it came to zero and printed me off the cat. The guy behind me asked if I could do that for him!

I did the post deal at Albies today. It does not roll. They had to force the cat on the 2nd transaction. They are great there and did it but he was not suppose to. Sooo I went to another and used my old Albies card with my home number on it. I was told you could only do “the deal” once a day. I got the Only Bunches using Honey Bunches of Oats save $1 off 2. The price was also only good for the 1st 4 you bought at $1.49. The 5th one I tried to get was $2.49. I had used a $5 cat I had from last week so I put out only like $4 to start the with out of pocket and am now just rolling them from day to day. :) I also did the Safe way one and they had not limit on the amount of times you could do it but would not double my coupon cause it said dnd. Oh well. I figure I am paying .20 a box of the bunches at Albies and they are really good.
So I do have one question. There is not mention of a Quaker catatlina. However you mention them in the scenario. I also have the $3 off 5 for Quaker and Life is $1 at Safeway. I am wondering if a cat will print for that also.
Thanks and Happy Couponing!

I went to the Safeway in Sunnyside to do the Kelloggs Corn Flakes deal. However I couldn’t believe I left without noticing that the cashier never gave me the Catalina or maybe it didn’t print!! Any ideas on what I can do now?

By the way, some Safeways have $.75/1 Snapple drinks and some vatieties are on sale for 4/$5 or $1.25 each. With doublers, they’re FREE!!!

Love this deal! And I love cereal!

After 7 transactions, three cashiers, and a good long time in the store with a fussy baby, I ended up with 33 boxes of cereal for $8.80 ($0.26 per box). And I still have a $3 cat left over. A lot of the Kelloggs boxes have $5 worth of Breakfast coupons inside, so try to grab those boxes if you can. I just might have to go back tomorrow. This is fun!
