I love my SodaStream. I bought a more expensive model at BB&B, but I’m sure any model would be great, especially at the Target price. I’m hooked! I love fizzy drinks, but don’t want caffeine and all the other chemicals in commercial soda pop. I bought several different flavors of SweetLeaf liquid stevia drops (chocolate and grape are my favorite, and they are coming out with a cola flavored stevia which I will try), and add those to my sparkling water for a nice calorie/chemical free flavored fizzy water. With stevia, a little goes a long way and a bottle lasts a long time. I don’t use the SodaStream flavors because I don’t want the calories, or the chemicals & artificial sweeteners in the diet flavors, or the added ongoing expense. I did buy one of the SodaStream diet cola flavors just to try out of curiosity. It reminded me of Diet-Rite cola, which I happen to like, but I won’t use it on a regular basis, or buy again. Next, I’m going to figure out how to make my own sparkling mineral water by adding the proper minerals, which are healthy for you.

We have had ours for almost two years. But only have a charger for it about half the time because it’s sort of a pain to make a trip to b b and beyond for the refill (yes, use the mailer coupons and this is the cheapest place for charger exchanges). Love this product, and my husband is thrilled when I remember the new charger. Isn’t much cheaper than fred meyer’s carbonated water option, and the few times I bought a soda flavoring, I did the math and found it similarly priced to shopping a soda sale. For us, it’s just convenient and less wasteful to not buy the cans, and so nice that we can control exactly what goes in our drinks.
buy this for sparkling water, or as a fun adventure in making healthier soda-type options, but I doubt it’ll save major money or replace a favorite soda flavor–they just don’t taste that similar.

that said–the above deal is an excellent price!!! Will be telling a few friends who have envied ours…

We bought one around Easter. We like it so far. We have noticed for die hard soda fans there is a difference in taste. Out of the flavors we have tried, we only like the coke and even that taste more like Pepsi. Our favorite thing is to mix it with cranberry juice. I have heard that coffee syrups are good too. I just haven’t bought any yet to experiment with. I do like that the syrups are healthier than regular soda. They also have a natural line of flavors. As far as cheaper goes I really can’t say, my husband went to 4-6 cans a soda a day to one 90 calorie can for lunch and carbonated juice in the evenings to satisfy any craving he had. I feel like I buy more juice but my husband has lost 13 lbs in four weeks.

I purchased this for my boyfriend for christmas. He suffers from stomach issues and carbonated water helps alot. I like the fact I can make a fresh glass right when I need it. I haven’t had to change the Co2 cartridge yet. The Cola Zero tastes exactly like coke zero!

I just won the SodaStream Starter Kit through a raffle drawing. It’s valued at $129.99. I don’t drink soda but I’m happy to sell it for $50 (matching the Target deal listed above). It’s BRAND NEW and still in the box. If you’re interested, please reply. Thanks!

This is a fantastic deal. We have had ours for 2.5 months and use it every day. We are carbonated water fanatics, so we don’t even really use it for cola-like sodas. Considering we used to buy twenty 2 liter- Talking Rain bottles at a time, this was a very smart purchase for us. I am not sure if it is a big money saver; as it costs about $25 at Macy’s to refill the CO2. We had to refill ours after a month and a half because we use it so often. So we probably save a little money, but it is just a very useful and convenient product for us that we really enjoy.

If anyone knows the cheapest place to refill the CO2 tanks, please fill me in!

I use it for carbonated water. I don’t save much money, if any, over club soda from Fred Meyer because the cylinder is $15 for a refill. I like the convenience of making my own but the quality is not as good as at the store. (Water will not hold as much carbonation as purchased soda/bottled water)

I like the environmental benefits and not running out of carbonated water when I have a sore throat.

If you do buy it, you can get refills at Bed, Bath and Beyond and use their $5/$15 purchase coupon.

The CO2 regulations in the US make this an expensive choice compared to Europe.

Clarification: The plastic gasket that attaches the soda bottle to the cylinder leaks at a lower pressure than what commercial CO2 is sold at. That’s why I can’t get the level of carbonation with my system that I get from bottled water at the store. It means the carbonation doesn’t seem to last as long. I bought 1/2 L bottles and drink them immediately, but I probably wouldn’t buy this again.

Save yourself the money and make your own soda for pennies. Let’s Brew on SE 83rdish and Stark sells soda making extracts and champagne yeast to make your own soda for about the same cost it costs to buy the soda in the store full of high fructose corn syrup. If FLNW is interested I will email a PDF sheet that has some helpful tips on making it.
