Walgreens: NEW Excedrin coupon = one sweet moneymaker

by Angela on March 15, 2010

A big thanks to our reader, Lori, for finding this coupon:

I went to the Excedrin website from the link posted on your page, and though I’d already printed my 2 max for the menstrual ones, at the bottom center there is a green box that says, “Excedrin is not involved in the recent pain reliever recall. Save on Excedrin now.” It will go right to printing a coupon for “any Excedrin express gels” which is the only format the menstrual ones come in.  So it can be used on ANY of the Excedrin Express Gels even though it doesn’t specifically list the Menstrual version.

Here’s the deal at Walgreens:

Excedrin on sale BOGO (2/$4.99)
Buy any two
Use (2) $1/1 coupons
Use $2/1 Walgreens coupon from March Coupon Booklet — register will deduct $4
FREE with $1 overage after coupons

I just tried that deal and it didn’t work. The first one came up at $5.79 and the second $0.20. So my cashier would only take $0.20 off of the second one. She won’t ever let you take anything off of the 2nd one if it is free. She’s a stickler but very nice. : )

same here – Walgreens is being tricky by having the boxes ring up as 2 different prices, so it’s not officially b1b1, its more like buy 1 for $5, get one for 50 cents.

I was wondering if this would work. My cashiers are sticklers too. But if the add says BOGO, I think I might get them to do it. If the ad says it, they are pretty good to do what the ad says.

Here’s a sweet moneymaker that I got off of hip 2 save. It worked like a charm this morning at Walgreens.
But 2 Sudafed OM Sinus Congestion Nasal Sprays $4.99 each.
Total = $9.98
Use (2) $4/1 coupons from the 3/14 RP
Pay $1.98

I hate to complain about free stuff (BUT)…I went to Walgreens today hoping to cash in on the bogo sale with the coupon I got for a free excedrin a couple of weeks ago, (from the excedrin survey). The cashier was completely confused by what I wanted and she called a manager over who said I had to purchase one to get one free to which I replied “my coupon isn’t a bogo- it’s just free”. After a little debate he wouldn’t give me two bottles even though technically I was still paying for one. It was a little annoying. I’ve already got four bottles of free excedrin but I’m putting together a donation bag and thought two more couldn’t hurt. Do they not understand how coupons work or what? I get how they could sometimes refuse bogo q’s with bogo sales but give me a break!

I got that Excedrin coupon and thought about using it with this sale, but I’ve had so many problems with Wags in these types of situations, I decided I’d wait ’til there was a RR deal when you buy this product. Thanks for the heads up – I certainly won’t bother trying it now!

I was going to try it today! Glad I checked the comments. My coupon expires today though, so I may try it! We’ll see!

I tried this today because I had read on another blog about ppl doing this without any problem….well, my cashier wanted to take off $2.50 for half of the cost. I asked the manager to come over and he said it was fine…but was hesitant. I think he also thought the Q was a BOGO free deal. Oh well, I’m tired of the employees at Wags…they treat me like I’m shoplifting everytime I’m there.

I did it tonight and my cashier had no problem at all with it! :) I go every Tuesday night to the Keizer store. The cashier at the beauty counter is the best!
