I hit the stores this last Saturday without the kids. Heaven!
First, I went to Rite Aid to get some of the free-after-rebate items.
I literally walked up and down the aisles for 15 minutes looking for things to get me to the $20 so I could use the $5/$20 coupon. I finally settled on overpriced wipes ($5.99) and olives for my CrockPot Pot Roast ($1.99 — highway robbery). My total was $11.54. I totally messed up and only used one GE light bulb coupon & forgot my Pampers wipes coupon from the mailer at home. So frustrating.
I will receive a $4.49 rebate for the light bulbs & hair spray and a $10 Rite Aid gift card for the Bayer aspirin.
Next, on to Safeway.
I bought 5 frostings, 1 pork tenderloin & a 2.5 lb boneless pork roast ($1.99/lb). Total was $8.79. These deals are good until tomorrow.
I made BBQ Pork Sandwiches with the pork roast. Super easy.
Rinse the roast, pat it dry & put it in CrockPot. Mix about one half of a bottle of BBQ sauce & 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar in a separate bowl then pour it on the roast. Top with an envelope of dry onion soup mix. Cover & cook on low for 7-9 hours. Remove pork and shred it with a fork. Return the meat to the CrockPot & cook on low for another 1-2 hours. Remove meat and eat it on a bun.
All in all, an afternoon well spent!
