The big Target toy clearance is mostly likely starting tomorrow (7/26). A few select stores will begin their clearance today but I’m not sure which stores. I checked out Fairview on Monday and many of the toys were signed 30% but marked 50%. Here are a few tips for navigating the clearance.
:: Make a plan & a budget — Remember our post about Christmas in June? It still applies in July. Do you have birthdays to attend? Will you be donating small items to Operation Christmas Child, Toys for Tots or another Christmas charity? Do you have the money to spend? How much?
:: Go early for the best selection — There will be tons of other people there. Many will have their carts stacked high. This is a much anticipated event that people get geared up for. Don’t get annoyed with the amount people are buying. You never know why they are buying and how they plan on using the toys (donating, saving up for birthday’s through the year, Christmas, etc).
:: Keep expectations low — Seriously! You’re not going to find the hottest toy on the market for super cheap. But you may find a great deal that fits your needs. I find it’s best to go expecting to walk out with nothing. Then when I do find something I’m pleasantly surprised.
:: It’s just stuff! — Most of our children don’t need any more toys (and neither do their friends). If you don’t get the much sought after toy or the best deal, don’t let it ruin your day. It’s just stuff!
I plan on hitting the store early Thursday morning to get in on the action. I may not buy anything but just watch the chaos unfold. Keep up with us on Facebook and make sure to post your pictures and updates there for others to see.
