It’s tax return time! Or at least it will be come February 1st! (Why? Because employers and other agencies have until January 31st to get your tax forms to you, so you’re supposed to hold off until then to file.). If you’re a do-it-yourself kind of gal (or guy) and like to file your own taxes (and avoid finding all the information yourself), you should give these two options a try:
H&R Block At Home: File your federal taxes for free (for simple returns) or upgrade for more complex situations — prices for these range from $19.95 – $49.95 (homeowners & small business owners).
TurboTax: Use TurboTax’s free option, which is FREE to prepare, to print and to efile your simple federal tax return. You can upgrade to an option that gives you more options and services, which ranges from $19.99 – $74.95 (the small business option).
For both deals, you may have to pay extra to file your state return for all lucky Oregon residents. Hey, there’s always a downside to shopping tax free!
Has anyone used either H&R Block or TurboTax to do your taxes? What do you think?
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s edition of “Tax Time” where I will share why my husband and I pay someone to take care of our taxes + our very favorite tax preparer EVER and why he is currently rocking our world. No exaggeration.
