Portland Parks & Rec’s $5 5K Runs (Portland Metro)
I’m not a runner but I have caved to peer pressure and will be running a 5K this year. Running is not cheap. Some events are $30-40 for adults and $15-25 for kids. That’s why I was super pumped to have just found Portland Parks & Rec’s $5 5K Runs!
Yes, five dollars for adults and kids under 17 are FREE! There is also a 1K for kids under 8. Jogging strollers are allowed. This is a great family event held several Sundays from May to October at local Portland Parks. Each park is family friendly and the traveling climbing wall and other family activities are included. Plus, Gabriel Park even has a skatepark!
Here are the 2017 runs and locations:
- Sunday May 21 – Fernhill Park
- Sunday June 11 – Lents Park
- Sunday July 16 – Gabriel Park (SW Portland)
- Sunday August 13 – Laurelhurst Park (NE Portland)
- Sunday September 17 – Westmoreland Park
- Sunday October 15 – Pier Park (N Portland)
All races are on Sundays and begin at 9:00 am. Go here for more information and to register for an upcoming run! You can also check out the $5 5K Facebook page.
