Rite Aid: Changes to +UP Reward redemption and new digital coupons

by Melody on January 1, 2012

Rite Aid has introduced a few new updates to their Wellness+ program starting today (1/1):

  • Load2CardThis is a new program that allows you to load coupons directly on to your Wellness+ card.  There are several coupons available to load, most for Rite Aid brand products.  I was able to load these really quickly.  The policy states these will come off before any paper coupons and can not be removed once loaded to your card.
  • +UP RewardsIt looks like you will no longer be able to roll your +UP Rewards on the same day.  The new policy states “+UP Reward may not be redeemed until 6am local time the next day after issuance”.  This basically means we won’t be able to roll our +UP Rewards until the following day.

I know some of you will be bummed about the changes to the +UP Rewards and I am a little as well.  For the most part, I roll my rewards from week to week so this won’t be a huge deal for me.  This may increase our out of pocket spent, so we will have to revamp our shopping trips a little bit.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.  I’m always a little apprehensive about coupon policy changes, but with Rite Aid they generally seem to work out for the best.

Thanks to Coupon Connections for the updated info!

I was able to use the up rewards I earned today (1/1) on another transaction with out any problems in Oregon City. The clerk who completed my three transactions said she has heard rumor of this but she hadn’t seen anything come through. Maybe it will take a little while to implement?

Yes, I too rolled my UP Rewards on 1/1 for the Pantene deal. I wonder when this new policy will kick in?!

My clerk told me on saturday that UP rewards were now going to be loaded onto our cards instead of a paper version. I hadn’t seen that info anywhere so I don’t know how accurate it is.

I was also able to roll my $10.00 Up for the Bayer/One-A-Day vitamin purchase immediately for the Centrum vitamins, and my $20.00 Up for going over $100.00 showed up at the bottom of my receipt.

Probably a change that will hurt some but help lazy folks like me who will be more likely to find stock on the shelves when we finally make it in.

Just calling Myself lazy…not any FLN readers! :)

I was able to roll my rewards yesterday. It’s hard to be in favor of this potential change given I live 20+ miles from the nearest RA. If this is the case, like so many stores, it’s making it harder and harder to coupon at. Still good deals to be had but will deter me from doing some things, if I cannot roll rewards.

I’m the same way. I live about 25 miles from the nearest Rite Aid, so I’m not going to waste the gas going over there multiple times in a week to pick up a couple things each time. It’s much more convenient to roll the rewards and pick it all up at once. Hopefully this doesn’t kick in for awhile, because when it does, I won’t be going to Rite Aid anymore. :/

I usally only roll my up rewards weekly, unless there is a good deal so the change wont hurt me that much. On another note I’ve only spent $22 oop at rite aid sense Sat and I have $63 towards the $100.

I’m bummed! I’m a newer couponer, so I roll my Up rewards to my transaction immediately following. Grr. But I’m a loyal Rite Aid shopper, so I don’t see this change as being serious enough that I won’t shop there anymore.

I would like to know how do you keep track of your UP rewards when they go on the card. Also do they still expire. This might mean we have to keep track and go on line all the time to check our totals.

Do you mean if the +UP Rewards are loaded to your card instead of printed? This seems to be just a rumor, my local manager said she hadn’t heard anything at all and all her paperwork said they would still be printed.
